  1. The riots don't work. Partly because Jagex is as stubborn as a Texas Mule with a thorn in its side and partly because of how they're conducted. Although they should have posted ideas in the forum, lets be frank. How many of the ideas that players gave, and had supported by up to 200 or more players, actually were used? The riots were the only other way, aside from the rants section, to vent their spleen. If Jagex HAD implemented some of the ideas, a lot of frustration would have dissipated, because it would seem as though they actually listen to their customers.
  2. Ravenkana replied to Meta_Mucil's topic in Rants
That sounds like a good idea. Jagex could increase the respawn rate of critters and resources for a few days to a week after the update. Then they return them to normal, similar to the way in which they boost drop rates of newly released items to get them into circulation.
  3. Three skills I could live without are Firemaking, Attack, and Strength. Firemaking's current abilities could just be fused with Woodcutting. Attack and Strength could become melee, therefore making maxed combat level the same for all three points of the triangle.
  4. Actually... That's happened to me. See, my cat's food and... er... cat box are both in the room my computer is in. When I'm in here, after he's finished, he'll occasionally want to be petted. So he jumps onto the desk, right in front of the keyboard. Mostly. Occasionally, he'll land part of his body on the keyboard. It'll press down on it and give a random string of one or two letters. Once, however, he went one step further and hit the enter key. Luckily I was on WoW at the time, and no one really saw anything. So it does happen, albeit rarely.
  5. Wow! Roleplay as argument. I give up! Obviously me and my familiar live in the same body permanently. I don't know where people get that "pouch" idea from :?: Oh wow, reading that I just realized that my idea of combat is simple minded and that I honestly dont realize theres more to combat than offence! Omg, I just noticed theres a defence level in melee! Thanks, it would have taken me atleast 3 more years to realize that without your help! Says who? Oh wait, right, you are God overlord Outsanity? Wow, I better watch out or Im going to get struck by lightning. :ohnoes: A maxed player with a steel titan beats a maxed player without a steel titan. Summoning affects combat. Maybe. What weapons and armor are they using? Is one using potions? If so, what kind? Does one have better food? Is the area multi-combat? And, aside from all of those factors, we have the good ole Runescape luck matrix.
  6. News flash: Then don't do the quest instead of whining about how you don't want to train smithing. I WANT to do the quest. It sounds funny and quite interesting. But I DON'T want to train smithing. I'll probably do it in the end, but it'll be more grudgingly than anything. And, by the way, your news flash makes little sense. I'll whine about training smithing because I CAN'T do the quest.
  7. I think it's funny that people are telling others to work on their smithing. Guess what? This is a game. Last time I checked, games were meant to be a method of escape from work and the pressures of life. Instead, we are meant to train a skill that is hated by many and has very few rewards. I don't like training smithing. It's dull, often expensive, and the exp rewards are based on the bars used, not the level of item. And it's also monotonous. It feels like work. Erego, I don't want to train it just so I can do a quest who's major rewards are experience. And I have observed that experience rewards are quickly forgotten after they've been received.

That's all they ever tell you- they know that you were in control of your account. I can't see them getting away with this for much longer. But then again the sheeple of runescape are a very forgetting people.
  9. We were already warned that Jagex could intervene. I seem to remember something when I first joined RS, along the lines of "Jagex reserve the right to cancel your account at any time, for any reason etc., etc." Just because they CAN, doesn't mean they WILL. And I'm still confused over why the burned meat thing is such a big deal in the scheme of things. Teeg Okay. As has been said MULTIPLE times, it's NOT the item that we're concerned about. It's the precedence of removign certain items from the GE. Burnt food was NOT a "resource" and could only be traded in quantities of 100 per GE "cycle". So only a few hundred could be RWTed a day. Now Jagex has removed something that most players could care less about. And I'll tell you right now they will do it several mroe times over the coming weeks. They HAVE to do this. Though these trivial items aren't the main reason they are doing this. They are doing this as an EXAMPLE, to use when they remove items of more "importance" from the GE later on. Because if they are removing burnt food from the GE to PREVENT RWT abuse, then they HAVE to remove other items from it that ARE BEING ABUSED RIGHT NOW. As players show, and are even showing on this thread, they are willing to accept ANY loss of content in this game as long as it's done slowly. Much like boiling a frog. And interestingly; much like current politics Jagex is also using "class warfare" to keep players attacking each other instead of Jagex. It's not skillers, pures, honest merchants, duelers, collectors, and mains against Jagex and what many consider "bad" updates. It's all of us against each other, and it's AMAZING what a company can do as long as they can keep their customers attacking each other and "ignoring" what they are removing from the game. And it's very interesting to see the theory in ACTION here on the forums. I don't see removing burnt meat from the GE as a precedent. When Jagex removes something important, I promise to change my mind. So you don't care about collecting, free trade, gifts, pking, staking, wilderness, normal trade, looting, sharing loot(LS is a joke). Well, it just shows that as long as it's done slowly, people will accept anything. Ever read "Animal Farm"? I have, and I see it already happening. The only things they have left to do are to sell the horse and imitate the humans. Well, technically they're free to do anything, but they can't. Why? The players who pay may stop paying. And, right now, they're trying to do whatever they want WITHOUT telling players and, when players find out, they talk down to them and say "No, YOU'RE wrong. We're protecting you."
  10. But... The familiars ARE finished! Jagex said so!
  11. But you have to carry a pouch or multiple pouches to use it. If you're not, you've basically just fluffed up your fur like a cat to make yourself appear larger and more dangerous. It also takes up more inventory space with the pouches and the (unmarketable) potions.
  12. Ha... Whats next? Lol? I got a black mark for censoring myself once, i said @#$%@$ instead of letting it just do the ****** Doesn't Jagex read Garfield?
  13. For higher levels, I think there's a higher profit with beavers, level 33. Two green charms, two willow logs, and about 150 shards (can't access the main website right now, at school), soon to cost 4k total. Get a beaver and ten scrolls, and head to the mage training arena. Unleash your special 5 times, for 15 magic logs. Run to the duel arena bank, and bank the logs. Go back, unleash 5 more times, for 15 more logs. Bank. 30 magic logs * 750 gp each (I imagine the prices will fall as this becomes widespread) = 22500 gp. Profit over 15k. Best part: you don't even need 75 woodcutting. 1) This only works if the special gives you magic logs from magic trees. I think it does, but I'm not sure. 2) Sorry for harping on about beavers, but I need to ask about 1 until I'm sure, at which point I'll level my summoning and write a guide. Don't forget everytime you use the spec it reduces the spec bar, so you won't be able to do that so many times in a row. But I agree with the priciple of your thread, once people start to understand the benefits the familiars bring the skill will seem a lot better. I think you require the wc level still... But the three fishing based familiars seem pointless... The rock lobster works as a harpoon for sharks only; why not simply buy a wieldable harpoon from another player? The Granite Crab works as a big net... most people only big net fish for seaweed... And the fishing level bonuses are equal to that of a fish or admiral pie.
  14. But the area has to be multicombat for your familiar to battle... and most of Runescape is SINGLE combat... And look at the expense to actually SUMMON the higher level monsters. The Pak Yak requires 5 k worth of shards and the Rune Minotaur requires a 12 k runite bar to summon... Having a level 109 fight by your side aswell as hold 10 items for you: Priceless. The Yak and Unicorn can't attack... Only defend...
  15. What challenge? The Spend Lots of Money, Walk Back and Forth, and Kill a Disproportionately Large Amount of Creatures Challenge? Or, as it's more commonly known, the SLMWBAFKDLAC Challenge?

  17. Did you not read my post about the prices of spirit weed vs the summoning potion? Due to the fact that the price of a 4 DOSE potion is 150 gp and the spirit weed is 7.7 k, how many of either items do you suspect will be sold?
  18. How can you make money from this again? Fight strictly in multi combat zones, while using pouches like a summoning nazi?
  19. Really? When did they last hide a poll? And which one?
  20. Well obviously we are to stupid and ignorant to push our mouse cursor on start -> run and type "calc" in. Over the vastly superior, all knowing and mighty jagex! Indeed!!! And the almighty Gods of Supply and Demand as well as Inflation have been successfully staved off due to the benevolence of the mighty Jagex! All bow before it's might!!!
  21. He's being hypothetical. Like, hypothetically, I could, if I was charismatic enough, wealthy enough, and weasley enough, become President of the USA.

  23. They did stay. Masks never surpassed they're 2006 high. For the first time, rares actually went down about 2% over a year. A YEAR. Construction was easy to pass up as unnecessary. But a counterpart to prayer is hard to pass up, people pay about 50m+ for prayer, but that stays in the economy. So summoning, because its combat based is in way higher demand than construction. It's simple, the value of the GP is rising, the items aren't necessarily crashing. GP just buys more. Then everyone panics at the falling prices and the price goes artificially low, and it goes back up, but with the value of the GP raising again with this skill update, it won't be as high as it was. I warned people not to buy santas after the xmas crash :x But aren't we forgetting the Price Checks on the GE? As well as the floors and ceilings? If GP is flushed out of the economy, the GE will keep prices artificially high.
  24. Can you choose the color of the Lab?
  25. Is it just me, or is the average number of players unsuitably low for it being the day after the realease of a new skill? I remember with Hunter, training spots were hard to obtain for the first week or so...
