11 June 2008 - Rocking Out

Featured Replies

There are many mysteries of the seas - hidden treasures, ghostly ships, pirate fashion - but few are as intriguing as the tale of Rabid Jack. Revered by a few, feared by many, his name is known by virtually all that sail the seas.

The problem is, no pirate is willing to talk of Rabid Jack. Whether out of terror or a determination to keep his history hidden, the pirates have taken an oath of silence on the subject: particularly annoying for any adventurer who wants to send Rabid Jack to a watery grave.

All is not lost, however, as one pirate has been given charge of the secret. Is it as easy as walking up and talking to him? Arrr, you should know better than that, landlubber! The pirate resides in 'The Rock' - an island prison for brigands and buccaneers - and he seems reluctant to pass on information without some assurances.

Needless to say, the path to your goal is a windy one, with some interesting stops on the way. Your path may even cross with the strong-arm of the Customs Office, some pirate implings and a multi-purpose seagull...

Summary

Where to start Rocking Out:

Speak to Bill Teach in Mos Le'Harmless or Port Phasmatys

Requirements to complete Rocking Out:

Level 60 Agility

Level 63 Thieving

Level 66 Crafting

Level 69 Smithing

The Great Brain Robbery

Access to:

A new way to train your Thieving skill

Pirate implings to hunt and catch

New pirate clothing, including reverse and double eye patches!

In other news...

The Menaphite action kilt was appearing as blue in your inventory even though it's red when you put it on. It's now correctly showing up as red in your inventory.

Similarly, the iron and steel gauntlets from the Fist of Guthix minigame were the wrong shades of grey, making the iron ones look like steel and the steel ones look like iron. Their colours have been switched round now.

Finally, you can now store broad-tipped bolts in your bolt pouches.

I'm posting this so that when the forums reopen, there won't be a fight over who gets the make this topic first. The last thing we need after a forum reopening is more topics to lock.

wonder what the reward is!

"Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world."

Abraham Lincoln

What a pity I don't meet any of those reqs.

There's a rumor that the quest reward list is so long that it actually has a scrollbar o.O

EDIT: Apparently it was just Darkdude98's screenie that sparked it, which is taken from the quest log, not the quest reward.

I think it's EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to note that you need at least 71 summoning to raise an ex-ex-parrot, before you waste your time wandering around mos le'harmless and talking to various pirates like I did...

The quest was quite easy, was scared the requirements foreshadowed a very tough quest but it turned out to be your average trekking quest. It opens up a whole new bag of marbles for the future of the Pirate Quest series though, sounds like after the cutscene in the end we might see some uhm, island-hopping in our future. The parrot, although it is an Ex-Ex-Parrot (I thought it was a play on the Mont Python Dead Parrot Sketch) looks a bit shabby to me, but ah well, it is undead, so I suppose it should look a little worse for wear. Other than that, I'm quite pleased with it. The experience rewards were quite hefty.

Yes a nice reward and <3 to dark dude for helping me lols.

Good reqs and a pretty ok reward.

I havent found ANY pirate implings yet but i did manage to buy a purple bandana of ge.

Still want the purple top and leggings, hope ge buys them for me soon.

Wish i had 71 summoning.

What are the thieving rewards like? I heard you can get one-step level two clues.

This is by far the funnest quest ever. The rewards are decent.

Uggh I want to do this quest but now I have to raise a bunch of skills......oh well, i've been needing a reason to do smithing. As a side note, whats with the alien head smilies? they creep me out.

~The arus are back~

I did the quest today, without a quest guide got it done in about a little over an hour.

It was also quite humerous and the rewards were a great deal of exp.

[hide=The Parrot]The new parrot is pretty cool. Here's me making it come to life :o. Bird and cage obtained from Bill Teach and 50 Jars Mufassah or whatever the hell his name is. This spot is right west of the Cave Horror dungeon entrance. You have to use a chisel on it first, like Darkdude said.

mith bars (uncommon)

300gp (uncommon)

cooked shark (uncommon)

striped pirate shirt (annoyingly common)

eyepatch (common)
