I HATE the argument that "they make things cheaper." Who cares? That's a seriously selfish argument. Bots are illegal, end of story. And just because they make things cheaper for YOU, doesn't mean someone else isn't suffering. Maybe some people enjoy chins. They used to be a decent source of cash, I do believe. Maybe some people hunted them for money. Maybe some people want to use chins to level up. Or any other method of training any skill that bots are ruining. Ugh stop justifying botting! It is NOT justifiable!

I still get excited about drops, but I never got THAT excited in the first place. I think the thing I got most excited about recently was beating Nomads Requiem. :D I'm not much of a boss hunter, so I found that fight hard and frustrating. But when I won I took a picture of him laying on the ground and made a triumphant post on my clans forums. :mrgreen:

I like them but... I also think things would be better without them. They really are a large amount of free exp. And that's their only purpose. Seeing as we have them though, I'm going to use them. :P The only skill I have that I can do my own effigies is 92 mining though. I've gotten three from slayer, but that's it. Seems like some people are REALLY lucky with them, and others aren't so much... not a lot of in between. :P

Yes. Of all the effigies, only one out of the two skills can be assisted. Try the Assist Clan cc. You might want to read up on their rules on the RSOF first though if you can find it.

I heard that there was rioting over the delay of this update... It makes me sick. Seriously. I wish everyone would grow up and find something else to do for ONE WEEK. It won't kill you. Yeah the treasure trail update sounds absolutely great, but is it really that big of a deal that it's not out RIGHT NOW?? Ugh. I hate impatience. I like reading BTS every month. I don't care if they're late on the update. I want it to work when I go to use it. Not just sit there looking pretty while we can't use it cause it's glitched. Know what's even more sad? If this update did come out when planned, and all the game graphics glitched or whatever the problem would have been, there would have been rants and riots that Jagex doesn't know what they're doing, and maybe they should have TESTED it before releasing it, and that people would GLADLY wait as long as it worked. But no. You people are never happy. Grow up. EDIT: This isn't necessarily directed at the OP. This is my personal rant at all the "rioters" and people who complain all the time. The OP has a good point about reintroducing the BTS.

Hmm I really don't mind waiting an extra week for a graphics update like that! I was really excited for the update though. :( Ah wells, means I can go kill Bork today without worrying I'm missing out on Elite clues. :P

I like this idea for the same reason the OP likes it. We don't lose anything at all, and it would be cool to see whose really good NOW, not who was good first. :)

It seems to me that the game itself would be the cake... I don't see why you're all so offended that he doesn't like the idea of all this free exp. If you like it good, if you don't, fine. Everyone's entitled to their opinions. It's not like he's trying to shove it down your throat. :P

I don't really see a problem with being able to assist WITHOUT gaining exp. I'd support that. :D

I think you really have to learn from your mistakes. Every time you die, figure out what went wrong. One thing I did wrong a couple times was not approaching Nomad after getting him down to 1/4 health. Just a couple seconds after he was gonna start to melee, he would yell "Coward!", tele to the middle, and heal completely. :( I didn't know I had such a short time to get to him. :P When he's about to hit the unavoidable 750, switch to diamond e bolts. The rest of the time use ruby e bolts. I never bothered with a spec weapon, but if you have access to a bgs, by all means use it. I also never used a Kyatt, but I have the level for a tortoise. Definitely try to remain calm. He's definitely hard on the nerves, but you WILL beat him eventually. :) Good luck!

That's just for the most expensive butler. You can get cheaper ones, depending on your needs.

Wheel of Time is definitely my favourite series. I'm reading it for the third time, so I remember what has happened and can read the books Brandon Sanderson is writing. The release date for the next book is November 13 or something? I'm excited! Only one more book after that one to draw the epic series to an end. :) Robert Jordan tells a wonderful story. :D Brandon Sanderson is supposed to be starting a series too, which looks interesting. After I finish with my very long reading list I'll look into them. :) Someone on the thread mentioned Graceling. I read that book, and it was pretty good. I recently bought The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and the other two books in the trilogy. Once I'm done with the WoT I'll be reading them! I'm also waiting on Christopher Paolini to and hurry up and finish the damn Inheritance cycle. There was supposed to be 3 books, but then he decided it was too long, so now there'll be a fourth book. I've been checking the Eragon website periodically over the last couple of years, and STILL NO NEWS WHATSOEVER. He's really taking his time. EDIT: In fact I just looked at the website. The last time it was updated was march 2009... Come on now.

Wouldn't I have to buy the OS before I can make it into a live USB anyways? The OS is 60$, and its still 60$ on the flash drive, not more.

You can also use Humidify to fill vials. I'm not sure how profitable it is anymore, but it used to be decent. I'm also not sure of the exp rate, but its good enough that people use it sometimes.

So what would be the advantages of making my own live USB as opposed to ordering the one from Mandriva?

The flash version is missing a few features it looks like, but I'm not really worried about that. I won't be using it for my everyday stuff anyways. I have no idea how to make my own usb version of an operating system. :P I would give it a try if someone made it sound easy though!

Hi, I'm just looking for opinions, and perhaps a little clarification! I'm a second year computer science university student. Everything we've done so far uses Unix, and a lot of people (who pretended they knew something? Idk) told me to get a Windows laptop. What I'm looking into right now is getting Mandriva Linux, mostly for ease in doing my homework. I've tried out the OS a bit on university computers, and while it's different than Windows 7 (<3) it's a lot nicer than the macs I've used. :P I was looking at the Mandriva site and 60$ seems reasonable to me. What I'm mostly curious about is the flash drive version they seem to have.. How does this work? If it works how I think it does (plug it in, and you have access to Mandriva on boot-up?) then I think this is perfect for me! I can keep using my laptop exactly how I always do, with Windows and everything. When I want to do my homework I can just boot up from the flash drive instead. If that's NOT how it works, I can always install the OS on my laptop and choose which one I want on boot-up right? I'd prefer not to do this however, as I don't have as much hard drive space as I might like, so I want to conserve it. I welcome whatever anyone has to say, opinions, advice, information on Mandriva. Thanks to everyone who can reply!
