  1. http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7550 Wanders OT after a couple of pages, but the Raidmax model is identified as being an Andyson model, pretty decent compared to what Raidmax used to do. They seem to be a middle reputation OEM
  2. I'd be tempted to try the Mobility modder - http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php On the Radeon pre-R300 driver (the last ever driver for Radeons that pre-date the DirectX8 models) http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/radeon-prer300-xp.aspx
  3. Ah the dangerous randoms, and woodcutting with armour, sword and food, as they could give a good drop if you were lucky, and if you had enough prayer to to protect from melee, and a decent weapon, - GRIN.
  4. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/250962 - Looks quite good in spec (not a refurb, but a lot cheper than many other places with this model) From other sites, it appears the 4GB RAM (there is a cheaper one with 3GB) is 2x 2GB - not 100% sure if the mobile version of this chipset is dual channel. Radeon HD4250 has more graphics performance than GMA4500M But yes, there is a lot to be said for having a high street store to go back to
  5. My nose, since I was scratching or picking it when I read this.
  6. If you've come back to P2P, then yes, you could use Tears, better to apply some fixed XP boost first, otherwise the exchange rate for tears will be lower. If you've been away a while, there should also be some achievements to do, which tend to come with lamps for 500xp or more. If you're doing it the hard way, then remember those resets whenever you can't advance a floor, do the resource dungeons before you hit the "can't advance", because resource dungeon XP (for 1st visit!) does not open a new floor if you already reached the end of your current open floors.
  7. Going back to Vista examples (not sure if anyone has repeated similar tests in 7) http://www.anandtech.com/show/2163/6 Readyboost showed anything from nothing to major gains on some operations with 512MB RAM (1GB readyboost) Very marginal gains with 1GB RAM when using readyboost (4GB) With 4GB RAM, readyboost is unlikely to generate any improvment, unless you are actually running deep into pagefile usage from large or many programs
  8. The 4 series solves one of the perennial Intel graphics problems by having a full set of hardware features - the lack of hardware T&L in the older GMA was a major stumbling block. However, the performance is definitely "entry level", so while many things could try to run (where it would be totally impossible on GMA900/945/950), the performance may be a limiting factor
  9. http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?quest_calc The quest calc should give you some pointers - enter your done quests in the quest list, get and correct your stats (you'l need to enter the ones below score table level), then it will show the quests you can do, and what you need for those you can't do yet. In seperate lists, you can find quests that give XP http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?page=quest_experience_guide.htm Try to find XP giving quests in things you are short of, especially if they are things you don't like grinding.
  10. Get the false year from one tree (kill by cutting and lighting fires from kindling cut from roots, then search stump), hand it over, then get the 3 keys (start northeast, go clockwise looking for steps), then get the real year and hand it over, when finished, you get the crown as a reward. Killing more trees will add to the charges, which transport members to evil trees - no advantage charging in F2P.
  11. Not sure if IPB supports "section moderators", but they are a good idea, if there are people with particular expertise and interest to take charge of a particular section.
  12. Reminds me ofr a friends one with a virus that could dodge (two or more parts, and they covered each other) - one bootable AV CD later - virus was dead & buried!
  13. WEP is vulnerable to a determined hack, by exploiting the known flaws, so if forced to used WEP for compatibility, you need to secure against possible intruders in other ways. MAC address filtering is overrated, anyone smart enough to use a wep crack tool, will be smart enough to spoof a MAC address, but any extra deterrent is worth a go. Key point, is to use a decent software firewall to protect the PC from an attacker, and to check router logs & stats. Also, it seems the more useage, the easier it is to attack, so if you have to use WEP for a DS, it would be better if nothing else was on wireless. Another possibilty would be to use a second router to provide WEP, and turn off when not needed, but then you may as well go for the cable option
  14. http://forum.tip.it/topic/289404-wip-artisans-workshop-guide/ - incomplete, but has some stats for burial armour, and a link to a spreadsheet - http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AmzuAfbFuFSVdC1RT1lRSW45ZDJPdENuQ2F4ME1kdkE&hl=en#gid=2 Moving from Iron I to Iron II doubles the XP rate, but ore usage is 9x more, so the cost is 4.5 times for twice the speed - certainly, before using higher level ingots, it may be worth earing additional respect and buying the bonus - try to find a world where nobody else is killing the ancestors, as that is a good way to earn additional respect.
  15. Do floor 1-max - you may like to break off and visit resource dungeons as you reach their level, to push the max higher, as gaining XP from resource dungeons after you have reached your maximum floor does not open a new floor. Once you've hit the maximum floor you can, reset prestige and begin another run from floor 1. A regular team > decent ad-hoc party > solo > bad party or waiting ages
  16. Reviews say it's a Ciirrus Logic/Crystal CS4299 - looks like the latest driver around is this one from Dell http://dell.driversdown.com/dell-drivers-downloads/Cirrus-Logic-CS4299-Driver_7643.shtml
  17. One trick I remember, was to create a second profile, and then when booting to a major hardware change, instead of selecting a profile, you choose to create a new one.
  18. Tough question, if you're tanking 40% of the hits using prayer, then prayer boosting kit will keep the prayer up for longer, but the right kind of armour will lower the hits. I guess if your life points run out before prayer, then go for defence armor, or possibly stack the 15% defence prayer, but that will DOUBLE the drain rate! If prayer runs out first, then maybe it's time to try monk robes, holy symbol. The Lumbridge ring is a given, of course, it's only 1 plus point, but there is nothing else worth equipping there in F2P. PS. Bots in FoG? The FoG worlds, or other worlds, and what are the bot hunter/hunted tactics?
  19. If you don't already have the Lunbridge ring 4, then do the tasks for that, as free superheats and high alchs on top of the capabilities of the previous ring (3) are well worth having, and your skills sould allow easy completion. The Artisans workshop - smithing experience quite high for materials used, but at total loss, and not that fast. Moving up from Iron 1 increases costa much faster than XP rate, for instance, Iron 2 doubles the experience but uses 9 times as much ore. Alternatively, smelt while using smelting urns (urns also work while superheating), and then smith. Crafting: Forming & firing the highest F2P Urn (Woodcutting) gives a total of 80 XP for 2 soft clay - another thing that changed is you can now use clay on a water source, without needing to carry water containers. This compares with 33 xp per clay for bowls, 35 xp for hard leather body. Silver is higher, at 50 for holy symbol and 52.5 for tiara Might be worth comparing the rate for doing clay crafting at the crafting guild, also take the silver there if it's not busy (and you can pick up the moulds if needed). With urns, it means only half the number to drop compared to bowls - alternatively, at the sinking price of nature runes, they could be high alched at breakeven, using a fire staff.
  20. No, got it off tipradar, and first thought was "runescape videos without the unregistered banner" - of course there's always camstudio, but this seems a pretty sweet giveaway on something that normally costs $49.95 http://www.tipradar.com/giveaway-screencamera-full-version.html And they got it off Heatweb Registration is a bit of a palaver for a freebie though
  21. The offer on the exchange already, sets the price. If you offer to buy high, then you'll buy one already there at anything up to that price, but if there's no offer there, then your price will be given to the next seller.
  22. Free Pcwinsoft Screencamera via theheatweb - might be useful for doing runescape videos http://theheatweb.com/giveaway-capture-share-screen-screencamera/ Offer runs from March 20-25 Registration required, and registration is keyed to your hardware http://www.pcwinsoft.com/how_to_register.asp - video demo of registration process
  23. 41 def - looks more like a mage tank than a mage pure. The "best" F2P mage pures would be the 1 def, runecrafter robe pure (needs 50 runecraft), or 10 def using FoG robes - or the simple wizard robe pure. Another very useful piece (from Dungeoneering) is the Blastbox (though if going members, hang on to the tokens and get the surgebox instead) - very useful in a 1 / 3 / 4 item setup, as it's a single item that contains your runes and valued at high alch 12000 (18000 for surgebox) - at the number of tokens it costs, you'd WANT to protect it, as losing one of these would be even worse than losing a pile of runes.
  24. Transformers: Sorry, you need a higher transforming skill to become the awesome machine of destruction. Oh dear, you are dead. Rush back to your transformer marker post to collect your stuff.
  25. Not sure if it's correct, but it looks like the antifire potion alone provides very little protection, so the shield is the greater part of the protection. The super antifire, is complete protection.
