    Need Help

I have a feeling you just don't understand the question they ask. I'm a pretty intuitive guy and if someone explicitly asks me to solve a math problem a certain way I'll do it in a hitch. However, when textbooks and tests ask questions in a different way it's hard to understand what they're asking for. The ONLY way to get around this is to do a few practice examples in your book and pay close attention to the wording. You'll know you've mastered the chapter once you can look at a question, understand what they're asking for and then assume you can answer it but decide not to. Goodluck
  2. Even diamond is riddled with noobs. I feel like the leagues just separate who can macro and who can't, while people who actually understand the game and strategies could be in any league. I get lots of people in high diamond that rage because their strategies fail simply because they're terrible strategies. I'm building a custom computer to run SC2 because I'm tired of lagging when I play team matches. Actually, it's even more of a problem when I lag in 1v1's when we both have 150+ food armies. It's about time too, my computer is about 8 years old with DDR ram and a 2.4 ghz processor :S
  3. I find it annoying when people feel like they have to retell every detail of their night out to me. I mean sure I find it interesting if you hooked up with a girl or fought some guy in a bar but just because you giggled at something doesn't mean I will, too. TL;DR: people who do not TL;DR IRL

    Today...

Is it a fractal hobo jacket? Like, instead of having hobo jacket arms there's just more hobo jackets? Is each stain on it that makes it look more like a hobo jacket just the accumulation of infinite hobo jackets stuffed into that finite space?
  5. The plumper & firmer the ass, the tighter the snatch. Erkel: Oops did I say that??
  6. I sometimes think in french but mostly it's in English. I'm pretty sure it has to do with how much you've read and written in a language that decides how much you think in it because it's a matter of vocabulary - the more you have the more eloquent your thoughts will be. I learned math in French so I count in French out loud, but in my head it's in English

    Jobs

I was a security guard/janitor (although I only did the janitor job once) this summer. It payed extremely well and I got to read & nap my entire shift sometimes. But tomorrow is my last shift and I don't think I'll be coming back next summer because I'll be doing school stuff (not paid)
  8. I feel like you find folks deserve an update on my progress. I dabbed in most of your suggestions but concentration only on a few. In no particular order: - Learning to program: too logical and redundant at times. I stopped mainly because I didn't see it as a useful skill to have and still don't. - Learning a new language: kinda too big of a task to work up to. I was looking for more of lifestyle changes that I can ease into. - XKCD forums: this was huge for me. I had lots of interesting conversations about things that plagued my mind with geniuses. I also found many great scientific articles linked to me from there. - Scientific articles: when I made my original post I didn't have access to much. But now I'm in university and have access to a VPN and thus have everything at my fingertips. I have a 2" binder of articles all highlighted and annotated, but over the year I've been reading less articles and more scientific books, and other books too like novels. - Rick Roderick: I downloaded all his lectures to find out I couldn't stand sitting for an hour length listening to stuff I had no experience with. I have to read more philosophy before going back to him, which I will one day. - Learning advanced Math/Physics: I'm not sure if I had chosen to go into Biology in Uni at the time I started the thread but now I am confident that I don't want to bother with math and physics anymore. - Going to the gym: I'm a freaking monster now, I do pushups like they're nothiiiing. I'll update my "my progress" thread in the health forums once the summer is up. - Venomai's post: let's just say I'm glad he's been inactive for a bit because I didn't read any of the stuff he linked. The last paragraph did influence me a bit but meh. Not really. That's the recap of your suggestions. But I've also gone out of my way to start writing. Lately I've been jotting down ideas about my theory on how the human brain works and all the philosophy behind it ect. ect. and it's been really rewarding. Sometimes after I'd been sitting thinking for hours and come up with something really smart I get butterflies in my stomach, it's great. Writing is a great skill to have and I find that writing each night helps me compose myself sometimes. As for reading, here are the books I've read since the end of my winter semester (in 3 months) -Life Ascending -Collapse -Farenheit 451 -Consilience -Slumdog Millionaire -Isaac Newton -Chaos -And Another Thing... -The Origin of Species (I read the first half last summer, 2nd half in a week in July) -The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul -Sputnik Sweetheart As you can see, the list is pretty much all scientific books with a sprinkle of novels to keep me sane. I'm not going to dive into experiences with girls/drugs because just looking back at my post I think there's enough here to make someone decide to do what I'm doing. The experiences I won't mention are in their own right enlightening but not necessary for the goal I'd set for myself, if that makes any sense. I guess I'd say they didn't make me smarter, but gave me a wider view on life, and made me appreciate things worth appreciating. I guess I should write more because I'm not too eloquent over here. Anyways, no need to reply unless you have more suggestions. I don't care if this plummets back down to page 50, I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm sticking to it

    Food

Earlier my friend was explaining how we're doing to make a burger but with pizzas as the buns. Something about frying up a pound of bacon and a [bleep]lot of meat and stuffing it between two pizzas. And I thought poutine was taking fat to a whole new level.

    Today...

\:D/ Anywho, my day wasn't half bad. My last shift is this Friday so I'll have a full week of vacation before another semester starts.
  11. If you want an easy explanation of light speed travel then read this: In order to not make my head explode when my terrible physics teacher was explaining relativity, I came to a simple conclusion. Let's say I have a twin and he becomes a (douchey) spaceman. We send him off to colonize a planet 10 light years away. In his ship you can think of him floating around in slow motion, except that he doesn't perceive it as being slow. Since I'm stuck on earth everybody ages the same except for my twin who's all slow and stuff. Let's say it takes 100 years to travel 10 light years, I'll be 120 years old when my twin arrives. Physically he'll only be 30 years old and it will only have felt like he was in the spaceship for 10 years. It's really not that complicated. And I don't see humans colonizing other planets until we figure out how to jump around in the 4th dimension.
  12. Rain annoys me the most. I'll be tossing and turning for hours if it's raining. Rain and mosquitoes? I live with people that snore like truck drivers, and the walls/floors are the least soundproofed walls/floors I've ever listened to someone snore through. I sleep better in the rain because it drowns out all other noise and I can concentrate on falling asleep more easily.
  13. It's creeping up... I don't like this feeling. I know I should be partying harder since I know I won't be able to until Christmas but something inside me wants me to 'prepare' for the semester and I've become more boring. Which makes the wait even worse, ahhh!!

    Food

I undoubtedly posted this before but I just had a family sized portion of this stuff and it's heaven. God I love my province.

    Today...

Today I woke up at 1PM exhausted and I've just decided (breaking news) that I'm not going to do anything (other than work). I'm gonna sit here all day until my shift starts and I'm not doing to bother putting effort in at work and I won't manage girls either. People will just have to deal with me not being available for 24 hours now.
  16. Woops I got him mixed up with Elias Koteas. They pretty much look the same so I'm not entirely off the mark.
  17. that she is,shes a babe, shes actually from my home town of greenfield park, quebec. i know her brother, and i seen her once at a grocery store, shes not all that hot without makeup :D Yeah, she's from Longeuil (bleeeeeh). Also, the badass from Law and Order that Saruman is in love with is also from there, they went to the same high school (the biggest English highschool in Quebec). I remember seeing Elisha in The Girl Next Door after watching Popular Mechanics for Kids all my life and I literally blew a load in my pants.
  18. Like many, mine was during my first highschool party, so I was about 13. We were playing spin the bottle with my (now good) friends older sister and other people and I used my psychic powers to make the bottle stop on her after I'd been chosen. I was like "YESSS!!!" when it happened because she was soooo hot (at the time, now that I look back she wasn't really) but the kiss wasn't romantic and didn't feel that good.
  19. UK university seems pretty stressful. Here in Canada Quebec universities have all access to our grades online (I'm not sure if they have elementary school grades, they probably do) and all you have to do is click a couple of buttons on their internet site (and pay them 30$) to apply. I think the only truly hard thing to get into over here in med school, and I know some chowderheads that still got in  BUT CONGRATS! Cheers to the future
  20. I jsut lost 5 ladder games in a row and im fuming. I play random and I spawn zerg, my worse race, four time and each time was versus Terran. I can't believe how [bleep]ing imbalanced that matchup is. Zerg is always on the goddamn back foot and has to correctly respond to each thing terran does or else you lose automatically. And the one time terran has to respond (when he sees fast muta), if he has a well placed scout terran can make a [bleep]ing engineering bay and turrets before your mutas can even arrive. I tried everything in that matchup and NOTHING WORKS.
  21. this stuff goes down like water for me now. Sometimes i'm on my 6th Ex (or M or Dry) and it's only been an hour since I arrived.

    Today...

This weekend's binge was a success. I'm too exhausted to go into details but 4 guys drank 6 24's in 2 nights... you do the math. There were so many life changing moments (when I say changing I mean slightly altered in a hilarious way) and enough laughter to make you puke.

    Today...

Shhhhhutthe [bleep] up no you didn't. I was going to make a post about how I'm about to go on a 3 day drinking binge but I'm very intrigued about your story EDIT nevermind i'm going on the binge peace out bros
  24. My Fall semester schedule is gonna be a pain in the balls but I'll get through it fine. Thursday 8am to 6pm? No problem, I'll just snort some various chemicals in the lab that tempt me all day. What's that, I finish at 530pm on Friday again? Easy peasy, I'll just jump out of the fifth floor window, no problem. Easiest thing in the world.
