Did you forget that RC & Slayer had a 2 year gap in them?

Omg there's a new paragraph that says Glass, does that mean we have new glass armors coming out soon!!! I THINK SO!!!

You fail if you actually thought that I wasn't being sarcastic in that sentence.

If theres going to be a new skill it will probably be summoning, and I can't wait! That's the only skill they've mentioned in the past that they're working on that hasn't been released yet. I don't know what other skill it could possibly be, as far as I know we already can do everything. Except maybe animal husbandry. That one would make sense. It would be like farming but with animals. Glass armors? What have you been smoking? Hunter is pretty much a dud because theres not really any point to it, it doesn't help with other skills, any more than what already existed. Thats why people don't do it very much.

I hope if they release one its a f2p skill. :D

in our dreams maybe.

that would be cool, but it would definitely anger quite a few members. i can't really think of any new skill that would really benefit the game. they should just improve the existing skills.

100% f2p 8-)

I'm pretty sure that I read something a while back that stated that Summoning is planned to come out, but it will NOT be a new skill, but will be part of magic. Of course, Jagex hasn't kept promises in the past... so...

We're not really in need of a new skill, and in reality the ratio of people maxed to people playing is a lot smaller now than it was a couple years back. I won't mind a new skill... as long as it's well thought out.

I'll get shot for this... But a riding skill came to mind. I know the only horses in Runescape are unicorns, but there's a lot of potentially-mountable creatures in the game including terrorbirds, graahks, bears, turtles, camels, goraks, dragons, spiders, scarabs and others. It has been something heavily frowned upon like the extra dragon armour coming out lately as well as deemed unfeasable first for the engine not supporting it (RSC) then for needlessness (running). Who knows... It might not just be used for travelling as cats aren't just eye candy.

Knowing Jagex, they would make the skill similar to agility, in a way it takes several set routes to train and used mainly to access places easily (like a water creature used for crossing waters or a mole to dig through a caved-in tunnel. :-k

Slayer was released 10 months after RC.

I hope Jagex think out their new skill better than they did with hunter. :|

Personally I would like a new skill to be released, but i wouldn't be bothered if they didnt. For ideas of what possible new skills could be, you could look at other games like WoW, we have a lot of their skills, but a few we dont, such as skinning (all i can think of :x ).

^ +1 Iwa... they really should work on existing skills... maybe thieving, has a lot of gaps from 60+, also not nearly as much money as we should get imo. High-end weaponry is definitely over unless Jagex changes HP system... which they are almost guaranteed to mess up :wall:

Summoning would be pretty awesome, as long as it is thought out like construction ((mostly)) was. *cough* boot individuals *cough*.

Anyway, it was probably coincidence. Jagex doesn't like deadlines, I don't think.

well, i was just looking at the updates archive on Runescape, and it has been about 10 months since the release of hunter.

this interests me because:

it was roughly 6 months between slayer(january 26, 2005) and farming(july 11, 2005)

10 months between farming(july 11, 2005) and cons (may 31, 2006)

6 months between cons (may 31, 2006) and hunter (nov 21, 2006)

so, if theres a pattern going on here, we should be getting a new skill very soon.

Whats everybody else think?

Yep, your correct sleuth. Eventually we will have a new skill each week, and no one will train them because they are all terrible due to lack of ideas! And unless you steal peoples names, your highscores could use some improving before you go asking for new things to train. You want to say mine could do the same? I agree, but, Im not going around asking for new skills, Im training the ones I have.

I think that there's way to many new skill topics going around. If there is a new skill, it will get here when it gets here. I quite doubt that they are creating a pattern too. I don't want a rushed skill, like hunter was. I want a well-thought-out, fun to train, and beneficial skill.

I'm going to do some shameless plugging and tell you to click on my Archaeology Idea Thread, which is linked in my signature.

It so far is getting a lot of positive feedback.

And yes...we are in due time for a new skill, I think.

I think they realised that rapidly relesign skills like that is suicidal. They wewrent giving a big enough break, your supposed to get the most out of big updates, now Jagex has moved on to BIG updates that are not new skills, and I think that the GWD was your new skill this year (a substitute if you will). Were looking at anew skill maybe in the first 3 months of 2008. You cant expect them to relese new skills all the time, not even every year, eventualy theres just no point. Id rather wait 2 years and see maybe the last skilkl added in a while be really good.

WoW indeed... It has a few interesting skills that could be added:

Tailoring - I mean seriously, rangers have crafting to make armour, meleers have smithing while mages are left with none.

Riding - Not a trained skill perse, though it does involve non-riding requirements such as a set amount of money and a combat level.

Machinery - How big are they going to make the already-huge crafting skill? I know a lot of engineer-oriented items are being put in there too like the toys.
