LootShare 16 October 2007

This week we have added an extra feature to the Clan Chat system: LootShare! By switching this option on, all monster drops and rewards will be fairly shared between the clan members fighting with you. LootShare even remembers if you were unlucky enough to receive nothing in a battle, increasing your chance of being lucky next time!

Because it is based on the existing Clan Chat system, setting up a group is simple. To activate it, turn on the LootShare option on your Clan Chat menu. You can organise yourselves into a LootShare clan beforehand, or you can invite people to join your chat channel in any multiway area. Once organised, you can chat to your friends using the Clan Chat system and work out tactics for defeating any brutish beasties!

The Clan Chat owner can set the minimum rank for anyone wishing to LootShare in a multiway combat area.

After two minutes, LootShare will become activated and you will be included in the sharing of the monster drops. As long as you are within 16 squares of the defeated creature, you will be considered for LootShare!

To get a better understanding of the LootShare system, we advise you to read the Knowledge Base article, here.

In other news...

The ring of life has had its behaviour slightly modified. It will now remove any poison that you may have been affected with as well as its usual effects.

A few seagulls on Karamja were getting a bit stuck. They can once more fly freely around this lush area.

The Hunter pitfall trap has had some tweaking to fix a graphical problem for certain camera angles. Also, the gnome scarf and the Fletching Cape of Accomplishment have been altered to fix render issues.

White knights have been re-trained to hold swords correctly and not hit themselves on their heads!

The ambient sounds of magic trees have been somewhat toned down and adjusted so the result is a less intrusive and more pleasant magical jingle.

A change has been made to the mechanics when a player is killed by a monster. Your items will remain on the ground only visible to you for one minute should you wish to run back to recover them. After that, anyone nearby will be able to see them. Previously, if a player died to a monster the items were appearing instantly for everyone.

It kind of ruins the concept of dying in a training spot ( risk -> rewards )

Now if you die = high rewards -> small risk ( presuming you have a teleportation method to you'r training spot, like a glory if you kill lessers... ):o

only thing i see wrong whit this is if you die at dk or at kq, you offen have your friends geting your items back, but now they have to stand the monster for 1min till they can get them back, that might be hard a specialy at dk as you get more enemys.

corect me if wrong, havnt been to the dk's :XD:

BOO!! at the last change in "In Other News..."!!! Stop trying to change our old faithful game, Jagex! We like it the way it is!

In other news, there are tons of important character issues, and graphic issues, and stuff that can be majorly important to fix, like Autoers. But instead, jagex fixes Seagulls -.-

I think the dying update will be more beneficial than not. Ape Atoll monkeys is one thing... as long as you can get back there quickly enough, you have less worry of other players taking your items.

  • Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.
  • Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler.

The "waiting 1 min" for items to appear isn't so great, what if you die at a boss and your friend now can't save your armor because he has to stand there alone for 1 min? :?

The Loot Share system looks good tho, no one can hide the drops anymore.

Napa! is that you? Hia :)

I personally don't think I will ever use this feature, as I am not in a clan, and nor do i kill boss monsters (i'm rubbish :P)

Having said that though I am very glad Jagex are finnaly recognising the clan asspect of the game which they have been naglected from for so long.

The Lootshare is pretty decent but the thing about no one else can see your items if a monster kills you for 1 minute...thats bull. I think you should at least be able to activate it on or off for things like Kq where you really don't have that good of a chance to get all the way back in time and you partner doesn't have enough food/pots/prayer to wait 1 minute.

Also monsters are supposed to be dangerous...Jagex keeps making this game worse and worse by changing things that are FINE the way they were.

Still eons from clan support.

What would you like to see done, then?

And yes, it would make the most sense for items to appear immediately to those people in your Lootshare if you should die; otherwise, it makes KQing and GWD vastly more dangerous. But alas, expecting Jagex to use logic is like expecting the insurgents in the Middle East to willingly cease their hostilities, even though we mean their people well.

What would I like to see done? I would like them to start. All they have done is added extra chat and mediocre loot system that only works in some worlds.
