manaleak Posted October 24, 2007 Share Posted October 24, 2007 What's up with javelins? They're not an alternative range training item like knives or crossbows or even chinchompas. They're just terrible; slow, inaccurate, and weak. I recently tested training with rune xbow and bronze bolts vs. rune javelins. Bronze bolts won over rune javelins. What exactly is the point of these items? It's not so much that they're terrible that I'm CONSTANTLY getting them from dragon drops, literally 2 out of 3 will be rune javelins. Not all weapons have to be "amazingly cool and powerful" People take advantage of things in RueScape in any way they can,so jagex has to make some things a little less 'good'. I guess it's true not all weapons or items can be useful, so I treat them as a novelty item rather than a serious weapon to be use for training or serious combat. As I'm able to make my own Nature Runes, I do remember aching the last lot of Rune Javelins just to see if they're world keeping as a drop. They weren't. Maybe a few tweaks are in order. Basically other forms of weapons that became obsolete. Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(. If you think about it you're throwing a wooden pole with a metal tip in a high arch to hit something far away, that would have to pick up some momentum and hit hard. I have a small collection of rune javelins from dust devils that are just taking up space, I really want a reason to use them. Plus, they're extremely handy for when you need to enter the Dagannoth Lair. But yeah, they do seem pretty worthless. Maybe there is a monster they work well against?
