My totally unscientific SWAG at the new update:

 

 

 

1. The bunny thing next to the BTS article is a Wolpertinger, which comes from Bavarian folklore.

 

 

 

2. The first foreign language version of Runescape was German.

 

 

 

Soooo....

 

 

 

My guess is a new, large area of Runescape that is based on the Bavarian/Alpine area of Germany, rooted firmly is German folklore. Think "The Brothers Grimm do Runescape." Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, etc. All of that is public domain. Maybe they want to expand their German membership base.

 

 

 

Or it could be a new GUI. It's anybody's guess!

Well... this could probably be way off... but here's another theory im thinking of....

 

 

 

You guys might not remember the poll a few months ago about what the majority of screen resolutions and your computer specs are and such...

 

 

 

I think that they're working on improving the resolution of the game window to a higher res, so that you can see more of the map and such.

 

 

 

Even the posibility of live maps is out there...

 

 

 

but then again, time will tell...

well, i hope its not that. it could be, dont think im trying to be negative on this or you. but i dont want weather in the game, unless it seems fit.

 

 

 

 

 

what seems fit? well, what doesnt? the sky darkening, the sun setting? those thing are very basic and seem reasonable. rain? why? what the hell will that add to the game except small detail. this could be done further down the road. id really wish they would make a lvl 90 def requirement armor(bandos could have been a good 1 for that)

 

 

 

weather that seems good to the game? sand storms in the desert, blizzards in the mountains.

 

 

 

tbh, we already have a weird and unique weather system better defined as a "climate zone" i guess, deserts and snowy areas that do damage.

In my 2 1/2 years of rs I have never seen them take as positive attitude as this to an update, (have they been like this before? maybe at the release of rs2?) we've had skills, new land etc all before. I'm looking forward to it and it'll be inetresting to see the speculation as it gets closer, especially once the hints start coming in.

Hell, in my SEVEN years of runescape I haven't seen a hype like this from Jagex except Rs2. Its gotta be something huge.

Well i stopped playing RS in jan and now play WOW so I am thinking they need to bring the people in from WOW back to RS.

 

 

 

I can see them increasing the size of the screen as being a big update but can Java cope with that?

 

 

 

I would say a new version will be released which is client side and uses an exsiting 3d engine like Warcraft, I love runescape but time has come for it to be ramped up, java was fine a few years ago so "the masses" could play the game on any pc, but the cost of pc's now are so cheap that a pure java game is just medieval < notice the pun :)

 

 

 

Imagine a warcraft style runescape, it would be perfect and would move Jagex up a gear and allow them to start making mega bucks, i would imagine they have lost a massive number of people in the last year, I have stopped paying for 5 accounts and know of 3 others who now play WOW too.

 

 

 

We can only hope, but i still visit tip.it every few days to see whats going on, and am just waiting for that big magnet to pull me back into runescape.

 

 

 

Oh and just to say, in runescape i played for over a year and as you can see my level was "ok". In warcraft i already have a lvl 70 and am enjoying raiding and all the end game stuff, Runescape lost its apeal once I reached a high lvl, I cannot thing of anything else i need to do in it, where as in wow the game is just starting now, and when i get bored i just create a new character.

I personally think that the new update will consist of some sort of combination of the following.

 

 

 

-Sailing or seafaring skill

 

-Archeology skill

 

-New continent in the eastern lands of RS

 

-The digsite barge island being released

 

-Possible a spherical world for RS (I saw a postbag from the hedge article where it is stated that RS is a spherical world)

 

-Wolpertinger on the new world? (lol)

 

-A new themed world called "tip.it" :mrgreen:

 

 

 

Anyways those are just some ideas and id bet 10m that at least one of these ideas will be implemented in this HUGE update that jagex just had to make us get excited for 2 months before its release... :XD:

i think they will have bank tabs/more bank space

 

they have recently created tabs in shops and i think they will use them in the grand exchange so why not in banks? it would make alot of people happy to have a better organized bank.

What I am thinking is somewhere on the lines of a new graphic update or pets in the game where they fight for you. Like you woul have pet controls togo defensive, agressive and stuff like that. Not as similar to WoW, but close to it. :-k

i think you have missed the point really, rs is supposed to be different if i wanted to play a copy of something i could just play some other lame rpg but the appeal is a unique thing that appeals to different people. but i see what you mean maybe it is to pull people back in, only time will tell
