Lenin64
saxamophoooooooone :D Which? Alto? That seems the most common. Anyone ever play a soprano? Those are rather interesting. yep alto. I have played baritone before, that was alot of fun lol :P also soon i'm trying a sopranino, the 12 inch one, I dunno if it's the same as soprana. that will certainly be interesting :) i do classic mainly but im part of a jazz band, so a good mix :) do you play sax? Yes, I play the alto as well :P I sort of regret not choosing tenor, though; band parts for alto sax are all harmony, while tenor seems to get a lot of melody. And let's face it, harmony sucks when you're practicing alone. I began in 6th grade, and caught on pretty quickly. I had to- by the end of the year I was the only sax player in the band, and we only started with three. (and one guy sucked the fat [wagon], let me tell you what). Then in 7th grade I was at a new school, new band members, and plenty more altos. Not to sound boastful, but I was the best there, and it was generally agreed upon. 8th grade saw the same people, but a few less, and it was agreed even more that I was supreme. No first chair, though, the teacher didn't roll that way :| Then I started high school and haven't touched the thing since. I really should....And sopranino? I'm guessing that's even smaller than soprano....wow.... :P Command the Murderous Chalices! Drink ye harpooners! drink and swear, ye men that man the deathful whaleboat's bow- Death to Moby Dick!BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! About tenors and altos, the fingerings' the same, isn't it? So I guess if you can play one, the other should be pretty easy, the only problem would actually be owning/renting/using two different saxes... What grade did you get to? (if you do grades.) i started in september 06, im taking 5 this year, hopefully, and jazz 2. some of my friends think they're pointless though
Lenin64
Yea, it'll probably feel pretty good to play again, but I'll have to do some serious mouthpiece/reed cleaning :P Fingering's the same across the board, I think, alto, tenor, baritone, soprano. Never played baritone, so I don't know for sure, though. Not sure what you mean by grades, so I guess we didn't do those. Command the Murderous Chalices! Grades - kinda like tests, they're not compulsory, obviously, but alot of teachers encourage doing them. It's just a way of saying how good you are, basically. A guy at my school hadn't played for ages, his whole mouthpiece was full of mould/fungus, it was disgusting  I think he had to buy a new one altogether

Intriguing
I play violin, guitar, and bass. I started violin 10 years ago, so I'm pretty alright at it. Going to be doing my AMUS next year, once my HSC is out of the way. Also planning on doing part-time violin teaching from next year on. Guitar, I started maybe 4 years ago. I had lessons for the first 2 and a half. I play a really crappy Squier Strat, the frets are all messed up. I put a nice Seymour Duncan humbucker in, so it sounds alright. I also play a $100 Valencia classical. It's incredibly good quality considering it was so cheap. Bass, I only started about 2 months ago. I picked up myself a $400 Squier P-bass. It's pretty fun, and the previous experience with guitar makes it a lot easier. Also wanting to pick up the drums, but I'll leave that for about 2 or 3 years. Tell me you can read that without thinking what a pretentious [rooster] I am. Shame. Cool.

speedofsound
Mainly drums but I also play guitar casually. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you." dragoonson
Used to play harmonica like...ten years ago.I still remember where my notes are,I just can't remember suck/blow and what some of the notes are.My trick was that my harmonica had three octaves and I marked out the "do" of each,I put my thumb at each mark and presto I know where my notes are. so i herd u liek devarts? If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".[hide=This's why I'm hot]The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".Amen, brother :lol:Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)amen Bruder! It's really hard. I have a high-pitched seven-piece blues kit from Hohner, my brother got it for me for my birthday. I want a lower set, these are for skilled players. And people always look at me funny when I can't pull some crazy blues [cabbage]. jjrox32
I play clarinet (yeah... shut up) for school and then guitar outside of school. I took up guitar because I hated having people ask me "what instrument do you play?" then having to say clarinet. Don't worry, I USED to play the clarinet, but then I had to quit band. I can still play too :P But I mainly play the piano. I've been playing since I was really young, but I don't remember exactly when I began. [hide=Funny Quote]Cbow! Cbow!!!!! +120 range is orgasmic.
