School is cancelled tomorrow because the possibility of 2-4 inches of snow.

We get a foot of snow around here and don't get school off. you get the possibility of 2 freakin inches, and you get the day off, where the hell do you live?

We used to get a day off with 1 or 2 inches and then the next day we have to go despite 6-8 inches or more.

 

Over the past 2 days I have been trained on 2 different jobs. Sort of. Yesterday I had to dump Raspberry ripple into a ripple vat for 8.5 hours minus breaks. I know how to do that one, now, though I don't want to. And today I had to learn another job on a different line, but the line was having technical difficulties so it started at 1pm. I was done at 3pm and had a 250 minute break at ~2.

 

Tomorrow I am back to the job I like, but still the shift I hate (palletizing and days).

Yeah, I'm just lucky enough that none of my IRL friends are observant enough to/care enough to figure out my online identity. Though funilly enough, after just checking, it wouldn't do them much good. Only two of the top ten results are actually me, one being my forum profile for this site (8th result), the other being my NaNoWriMo (1st result) profile, which contains absolutely zero compromising information.

 

As for today, I planned on going to the dentist this afternoon for a walk in appointment, so I was gonna get there early for the opening of their afternoon session, but instead I woke up at 8 am, decided it was too early to get up, went back to sleep and was out until almost 12:30, at which point It would have been about 1:30 before I got there, much too late to have a hope of getting a walk-in without waiting like 2+ hours.

 

On the brighter side, I saw Sherlock Holmes about an hour ago. Good show, but I almost rather they didn't open up another series possibility.

I took the liberty of counting all the books in my room. I stopped counting at 85, because frankly the back wardrobe shelves were quite dark and dustry.

 

Assuming an average mass of 350 grams, [around 12 ounces], the total mass is :29.75 kilograms.

 

Assuming all of my books were to fall on my head from a height of 2.5 meters [the height of my ceiling], actually this doesn't matter because acceleration due to gravity is constant at 9.8 ms2.

 

Since force is a product of mass x acceleration, total force would be around 291.55 Newtons. Still there are lots of factors to see if this would actually kill me such as collision elasticity, stress at point of impact, momentum. etc...

Same here in Finland - a few years ago the temperature was close to -30C even in the south (the warmest area), and we didn't get a day off or anything. I guess we get a day off when the air you breathe freezes. :lol:

 

Right now it's about -20C, and there's a lot of snow too. I hate too cold weather. :angry:

We've had a pretty calm winter so far, pretty cold by not to much snow wise, maybe 18 inches total, about 7 on the ground now. I'd put that into centimeters but I suck at metric. 45 cm total and like 18 on the ground?
