So now I'm mad b/c I have to watch UK/UAE soccer, women's beach volleyball or boxing... She's more like the hottest girl in your class hot. Went on a bike ride to the beach. It was the first time I've been down to Santa Monica since the whole summer tourist season began, and my god, was there a lot of people. The boardwalk was flooded with people. Duff Posted July 30, 2012 Share Posted July 30, 2012 Holy crap, I just went through the scariest computer experience of my life. All of the sudden Nightly started opening weird windows. I immediately went to open Microsoft Security Essentials to do a scan and suddenly the icon disappeared. I unistalled it and reinstalled it, but shit started happening and whenever I would try and run a scan, five minutes in my computer would shut down after detecting a bunch of trojans. I was freaking out. So I did a system recovery to a state five days ago. I'm now running a complete scan and haven't run into any trouble. But still, I really hope I didn't [bleep] up my computer. And no, it isn't porn or anything. It must've been some of the movies I've been streaming online, though I've been careful not to open ads, etc. Yikes. Guess I'll stop doing that. I don't know what I would do if my computer died. This is why I now run no script and ad block all the time, and have never gone back to that site just to be extra safe. I lost the ability to run all programs (executable just stopped working), except by using the run as administrator option, so I used that to run a system restore. That repaired most of the damage, and I ran a scan once it finished its recovery with the internet disabled, cleared off the male ware, then reconnected, updated and did another scan and all was good. So far my PC has never been infected, and I think with my laptop that was the only infection it ever got, though AVG did once decide that my GTA SA executable was a virus and I had to reinstall the game. I'm not sure if that was AVG being crazy, or if something did sneak on that I have forgotten about, and infected the executable. Anyway, it was a real eye opener to see just how fast a java driveby can do its work. Took two seconds to infect me, and 4 hours to clean it up. Acutally I've known that for a while and my hair used to be thicker than most people, but I'm too young to lose my hair... Trapical was awesome. Also to you guys in the 2 last posts, AVG is a very bad antivirus, and MSE is a good choice. I'd probably also run a scan with Malwarebytes, Duff. I've never had a Virus on my computers in the last 2 years. You just need to know what not to run, and no-script and ad-block plus are very good add-ons. This computer is using MSE, and I can't see changing that for a while. Good solid program. I guess a little over a week now, I was bending over in the kitchen and went to crouch down, and forgot that the kitchen table was right behind me because we are redoing the kitchen, and essentially sat on the corner of it so that the very bottom of my tailbone slammed down on the corner. The thing is, it still hurts. Starting to wonder if there is a nerve cluster or something on the bottom of it. Not overly concerned since it's more of a still sore than actual pain, and sitting or biking doesn't bother it, but it is kind of silly that it still hurts so long after the fact. Today was a good day though. I went to Bluefield high school to help out with the band camp there. I am almost done painting the the practice field but today the director was out of field paint. Good solid program.I was reading an article on computer security that had been sent out to all people working for the government agency I'm working for. The title was something like top ten security programs (not just anti-virus programs; one of them was a password program). Microsoft Security Essentials was one of the top five. Definitely sticking with it since it's updated with virus definitions often. Plus, it's free.
