Lucky you. I consider myself lucky to have it warm up to -10C during the winter. Although, when it's really cold it doesn't snow so it's kind of a mixed blessing. :P

I see it like this, if it gets to cold for me I just put on some more clothing. Once it hits absolute zero, I can still put on more clothing if I want. As it stands I often find I've run out of things to take off, and it's still getting hotter by the day.

Technically, you can't put on more clothing when it hits absolute zero (if you could even hit it) ;) .

 

being said, it's getting pretty cold around here. Still raining, but I'll give it a couple of weeks and it will all turn to ice.

I stay inside, but there are those times when you have to go out for whatever reason. Along with that I like to do stuff outside all year.

Lucky you. I consider myself lucky to have it warm up to -10C during the winter. Although, when it's really cold it doesn't snow so it's kind of a mixed blessing. :P

Meh, it doesn't snow very, very often, but when it does it piles on most of the time here. Pleasures of living in the Maritimes, now in BC they shut down for 3cm (I had an aunt who lived there).

The cold isn't all that bad, it's the wind that gets you, so the wind chill ends up being way more important than the temperature. Looking at Canada's wind chill index, human flesh can withstand up to at least -25 (this is windchill, not actual temperature) without freezing (freezing is bad). -28 to -39 can freeze your skin in 10-30 mintues. Starting at -40 skin freezes in 10 minutes or less, particularly in sustained high winds, and things beocme officiall hazardous at -55, where exposed skin will freeze in less than 2 minutes. The true perk of living in cold places has to be ice and ski hills though I think (unless you live in Hawaii in which case you can go skiing in the morning and swim at the beach on the ocean in the afternoon, because Hawaii is perfect).

 

I would not however want an Ontarian winter (or an Ontarian summer). They do get wind chills into the 40's and 50's at times, and in the summer they get into the high 30's, neither of which are states I like.

I love Ontario. Neither the heat nor cold really bothers me. In fact I'm going up to my cottage (which is a cabin with no insulation or heater, or running water) this weekend, and it's supposed to be minus 5.

My hands get cold very quickly (they like to turn blue and purple, sometimes before it gets to freezing). Every other part of my body is easy enough to keep warm, except my hands. I wear a lot of mittens because they actually work.

Scratch that. Woke up this morning fine, a bit rainy, but that was pretty much it. Get to school at the same time as a friend of mine living 20 km away. He asks me if it snowed at my house, I told him "no, are you sure it wasn't just some frost"?

 

"Well, my car is covered in snow, so I'm pretty sure it's not frost!"

 

I look back at his car. He was right, the only car in the parking lot with snow on it. Hours later, the snow finally hit us, and my happiness level dropped like a stone.

After months of bullshit coming from my cousin, my parents finally kicked her out. Yesterday I asked my parents to put some money onto the bank account I use to pay my rent and my dad went to the safe under his bed to take out the money for it. He discovered $1,700, their gun, and a couple of other stuff missing. He went into an absolute rage and probably almost killed my cousin. They called the cops and discovered that she had broken into their room using an ID card or something and just went through the safe and she probably gave the stuff to her boyfriend but never admitted to anything. In less than a day they had her on a bus to Florida to live with her mom and if she tries to come back they'll call the police on her for trespassing. My parents took care of her for 14 years and never treated her any differently than me or my brother, but she clearly showed how much she appreciated that by lying stealing from them. Apparently she called her mom telling her that she doesn't want to go to Florida and that she's getting off of the bus in Houston, but she doesn't know anybody in Houston so she's probably going to be homeless or end up dead. We don't care though, she had a good life here and she decided to throw all of that away.

Ok, Windows 8 makes no sense if you're not using it on a tablet. If you open something from Metro, it's fullscreen and has no options that takes more than 2 seconds of touching to figure out. I had to download the Chrome installer twice because I accidentally closed it and couldn't find how to access the downloads from IE. I can't seem to find how to close things from Metro either, my only option has been to use Ctrl + Alt + Del. Now to take a nap and let the last 600GB of files transfer over.

Today I went on a movie marathon with some old friends that were visiting from college, as it(their college) was underwater as of Tuesday.

 

Cabin in the Woods - excellent.

The Hunger Games - enjoyable, didn't read the book so I don't have a strong opinion

Brave - beautiful, predictable and cute. Makes me excited for future pixar movies with this aesthetic quality

Rubber - Honestly the most artsy crazy awesome indy film I've ever seen. 80 minutes well spent.

My parents adopted her when she was 2 because her parents are awful. Ever since she got into high school she's been nothing but disrespectful to my parents and made it clear that she didn't want to be here anyways. She's stolen before, and more recently had been bringing adult strangers she met online into our house when nobody was home, which is a miracle that nothing was stolen before this or that she wasn't hurt. She doesn't learn from her past mistakes and we got rid of her before she robbed the roof from over our heads.

Last night was such a great night. I went to Buffalo Wild Wings with a couple friends, then we went to an amazing free local punk/ska show. After that we visited one of our other friends for a while, then went out to a couple parties. Ended up getting a little tipsy and a little high and grinding with some hot chick from my Engineering class before eventually coming home at like 2 am still high and having an incredibly deep three-hour-long phone call with my best friend back home. Just a fantastic night, haha.
