a tradeless runescape

this is a 'what if' thread, if youve got nothing nice to say...

Would you like it if there was no trading in runescape whatsoever, between players and players and players and npc's? i.e. players needed to be entirely self sufficient

i think its an interesting idea, and it would allow your combat level to be affected by more skills. For instance, a high level smither or herbalist would have a considerable advantage over lower levels

thoughts?

It's funny I have actualy heard this before with one difference: The previous one was a themed world, not the game. Although it would be fun for a while, everything gets old. Plus a lot of people don't like being balanced therefore making it challenging. I'd play still.

Many skills would be impossible, as many need stuff (construction needs house and materials, summoning needs shards, hunter needs equipment, most of fishing needs rods and stuff, slayer and farming need equipment, etc), which would really mess up the game.

Hail to The Great Big Penguin in the sky. And Guthix, of course.

RuneScape would then become a massive grind-fest, virtually ensuring boredom and disappointment with the game altogether. It would also drop extremely in popularity, as the sheer amount of time required to level up in a handful of areas would be unfathomable.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

The game will quickly grow very boring.

If I had to put more hard work into getting what I want that would mean:

I would have to barrows every day for Barrow armour

I would be GWDing like mad for a Godsword

My bank will be full of rubbish (note: no trading so the options are either alch or drop)

I would quit

Would never happen but I think it could work with the ability to buy/sell back things to certain shops, although it would act like a 1st come, 1st serve basis. E.G.

You buy 3a plate from a general store for its GE price. You can then sell it back for the same amount or wear it etc etc. When it is sold back to the store, others can buy it, and the item stays in there until it is bought (the general store would be catorgorised like the bank system we have now where it would be divided into crafting, smithing, discontinued items, rares, super rares etc.). Any junk items worth under 10K that pile up in the general store would be deleted by the next day.

That way it's basically like a first come, first serve basis, and items would never decrease in value \' I think it could work but they'd never do it :P

That makes it how much different then it is now....?

Anyway, if they were dumb enough to make the game entirely selfsufficient, I'm sure a lot of highscore addicts would still play.

I never trade.

And it's not because I don't want to.

*Looks at your stats* So you use a steel scimitar/mithril sword? :P Well I guess you could've PKed a rune one or a whip, but still

OT: I don't think I'd continue playing then, it would just become really boring I think.

Yes, that sig was annoying.

If they took it away then they'd probably have a lawsuit on their hands for completely ruining the game that we want to play. If it had started like that then it would never have got off the ground.

Player interaction was, and still is, the key to the growth of runescape.

Thanks to Quarra for the awesome sig!

Exactly my opinion, without trade skills would be pointless for repeation

Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,

I like to think I walk this line every day.

Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man.

You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.

And next, they will take out speaking options to completely eliminate other player interactions. No more offensive language!

No more trading? No more scamming!

I think that it would be nearly impossible to get some items, and to get others impossible. However, I think that if more players were more self-sufficient, we'd have a more honest game.

So, basically Earthysun is Jesus's only son.

it was a big :wall: for u to make it a what if thread. personally if u wanted to make this thread and avoid flames at least rephrase everything. write a personal experience on how trading in rs is so useful. then ask others to share opinions on wat would happen to them when rs takes away trading. something like that. otherwise expect the flames.
