Bad Internet Shopping Experiences!

Featured Replies

This is just a thread for those who want to share their bad experiences with internet shopping...

I've bought over 75% of all my dvds and cds off the internet (over 350 of them combined!) and have rarely come across anything terrible.

Once I bought a cd on eBay, and the cd itself was completely cracked in half so it didn't play at all, and just recently I was sent 2 cds wrapped up in nothing but a few pieces of sellotape and cheap A4 paper - ofcourse the cases were completely wrecked, and half the packaging was torn off by the time it arrived at my house.

I'm sure someone's had worse experiences...?

(Please don't name any specific sellers' accounts, although I think naming the sites would be ok!)

When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!"

Apart from having to deal with some RMA stuff from newegg I really haven't had any terrible experiences.

Never had any problems thankfully

Got a bad motherboard from newegg once, didn't figure out what was wrong quick enough to RMA it (thought I was getting bad video cards). A few comics I ordered from MileHighComics weren't the grade they claimed. I've ordered thousands of dollars worth of stuff over the internet the past few years, so I am doing pretty well.

That's the only problem I've ever really had also, makes me never want to order the wrong part again.

Not much. Sometimes I receive a damaged item from amazon, but they always replace it. Only webshop for dvds and cds that I tend to avoid is cdwow. crappy service, they make promises they can't live up to. strange business goes on there.

I bought an Xbox (not 360) on Ebay and it took 5 weeks for the guy to ship it. He was probably new so I cut him some slack.

Accidently bought a few fake replicas but I returned those without a hitch.

Ahh, actually, once my dad bought a car door for when we had an Audi (my mother crashed the side... women drivers  ) and silly me didn't check it and there was a huge dent in the side. They wouldn't return it or exchange because I already signed for it :S

Not looking enough and ended up paying for an e-book.

Whats worse is the bastard had the cheek to charge postage and packaging. And it came like a [bleep]in' week after a game.

I only ever buy new, just incase something bad occurs! So Play and Amazon have always served me well. :P

I ordered a Vinyl Album once, despite me saying "if i'm not in when it arrives, please DO NOT leave it outside." They left it outside and it was stolen. JERKS!

Luckily I got a refund.

and again, recently I ordered a CD, and it hasn't arrived. I'm still waiting for the seller to get back to me for where my item is O.o

Thanks to Hawkxs for my signature :)

Only bad experience was buying a dvd on eBay and it finally arriving like a month later. And if that wasn't enough, it was a bootleg copy (the seller had said it was authentic). It was all good though, because he got some angry feedback, and Paypal refunded me :D

No bad experiences so far.

WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME

#1 Wongtong stalker.

Im looking for some No Limit soldiers!

I bought an mp3 player at amazon. Took like 3 days to ship even from the US.

Brought a TV from Dixons, I paid £10 for special delivery so that it would arrive within the next few days. Dixons managed to make the TV arrive a week after the normal delivery slot so effectively I paid £10 for it to be delivered later than normal. Then again, it's Dixons, I'm not sure why I didn't expect them to screw it up.

Haven't had anything worse than that really...

Once ordered a couple of DVDs off amazon for my mum's christmas present that never cam so I didn't have anything to give my poor mum on christmas day. :(

That is my only bad experience though and they sent me the DVDs again. Didnt get a refund on the first class delivery I paid for though. :x

Bought a video-card for my computer, it was an EVGA 9600GT, but ncix.com (a site which is Canadian for canadians btw), but 2 months after, still didn't have the card. Had to deal with the costumer service for a few weeks until I decided to change my order for an EVGA 9800GT that was almost the same price I had paid for the 9600. Had it 3 days after, but one thing they didn't tell me was that they took an additional $4 from my credit card for the price difference, like come on, it's such a small amount, and they had already lost me as a costumer, only makes me want to make bad publicity for them. Anyway, I gave their costumer service a bad rating and am still checking in case they took more money from my card.

Only ever thing gone wrong is that I ordered these headphones but the bloke ripped me off as the company went bust kinda.

Wasnt answering any calls or anything, nothing I could of done.

Always check the sellers ratings on ebay, and I only buy off major store outlets from other sites. So I've always been safe, never even had a defective program.

One time, though, when buying memory for my computer, I accidentally ordered high-density ddr-sdram instead of low-density, which I didn't know my motherboard wouldn't support. I was able to return the ram and buy low-density.

I don't buy much, but when I bought my stereo receiver from Amazon and speakers from Crutchfield, they were both fast and helpful and nothing went wrong. So no bad experiences yet!

I bought a book from Amazon once. It got to me in a timely manner.

In Spanish  Despite the product page displaying it in English and all that. I sent it back and got a refund, nothing bad ever since.
