Extremely confusing for a while, but eventually it made enough sense for me to appreciate it. It grew on me in the second half and will most likely require a second reading, which I will happily undertake. Overall I think it's a new favorite. Hawks Posted September 9, 2009 Share Posted September 9, 2009 So I just put two books by Haruki Murakmi on hold because of another book I read where the characters were reading his books (book was 'So Punk Rock (and other ways to annoy your mother)' or something. was good and about kids who form a Jewish rock band). Kafka on the Shore and the one about a Wind-Up something. Also looking into Walt Whitman as my English teacher says he's interesting. Also have book two of the Travelers (from Pendragon) that I've almost finished, tells about Aja, Ellie, and Alder before they were Travelers. Just have to finish Mostly Harmless, which sticks to the general rule - contradict everything, confuse the [bleep] out of the reader, laugh. That is why they are such great books! I recently read "The Starcraft Archive" which is just the first 4 books of the Starcraft series. Now I am reading the first 4 of the Diablo series. The only one I still have interest in is Ninjas. The other 2 I was never interested in very much, anyway. As for Ugozima, I'm sorry but I cannot kill you. Okay, a bit extreme if this is just grade school, but there is nothing you can teach students by using Twilight as a source, except how not to write a novel. Today I got some books I ordered in the mail though, and I'm pretty excited. I might just put off my (less-pressing at least) homework just to read them. :P EDIT: Oh yeah, I should say what they are. I've read a lot of the CHERUB series by Robert Muchamore, they're really well written. I like spy books mostly, and I read before I go to sleep in the evening, helps to fill my mind with things to dream about. Do you read? Yeah, I enjoy reading too. I've got all of those CHERUB books and I've read all of em like 5 times lol. Now I'm going through a few Chris Ryan and Andy McNab books. I'd recommend Seven Troop by Mcnab and The Hit List by Ryan. Both authors have a range of childrens books, but the adult ones are better if your over the age of 12. I've read both Eragon and Eldest, and bought Brisingr the day that it came out (I actually ordered it months before it came out, and it was shipped directly to my house the day it came out 8-) ) Hoooowever, it had been so long since I had read Eldest, that I had forgotten everything that had happened in the first two books -- and I can't bring myself to read Brisingr without first re-reading the two other books :lol: The first two were great though! My favourite authors are Dean Koontz and Tom Clancy. I also like Frederick Forsyth. My favourite is definitely the Odd Thomas series. He never fails to dissapoint, even after 4+ books (not sure if there are any more, I lost track of the series after book 4 and I've been meaning to catch up). Moby [bleep] is good, I really enjoy it, the prose is much simpler than you'd expect for the time period. I absolutely hated For Whom the Bell Tolls, though. I was curious last year (or in eighth grade, although if that's it I bet that's the reason I didn't like it), and read it. It took foooooooooooreeeeevvvveerrrrr. A Tale of Two Cities went faster than that book. It seems like hundreds of variations of the paragraph: "This guy wanted to blow up a bridge. He was walking towards the bridge. He still wants to." And then, in about eight pages, you get: "ACTION MICHAEL BAY EXPLOSIONS DEAAAATHHHHH".
