What movie(s) did you last see?

Featured Replies

I saw Green Zone today. I definitely enjoyed it, though I would have liked a bit more action :P

I wanted to see that last night, but they didn't have a showing until 10:00 so my friends and I didn't want to wait.

Repo Men.

We saw this instead. I liked it, it was a bit bloody at times though. It was definitly worth the ticket price.

Exactly what I thought, except I enjoyed 'Sylar' and 'Ryan' in the movie. I can't help but see some actors/actresses as certain roles only.

I also saw The Hurt Locker. It definitely deserved Best Picture.

It's Drive-In season again! Went tonight and saw:

The Bounty Hunter- Despite the bad reviews in the local paper (they never get it right), I thought it was actually pretty good. 7/10

Legion- It wasn't bad, but not quite ranking high enough to buy. 6.5/10

Wasn't a big fan of In'Ba' but it was good. Saw Alice in Wonderland, despite being male I thought it was a good movie. Gunna see Green Zone later this week.

The Bucket List, pretty good.

Watched all 4 lethal weapon films one per night for the last 4 nights. I really wish somebody could make an action comedy to that calibre now. The two just have so much chemistry. For some reason the ending 30 seconds and credits in older movies always seem much better to me than modern ones, not sure why i pay attention to those parts.

Rocky Horror Picture Show. Wtf.

Get back here so I can rub your butt.

Watched Alejandro Jodorowsky's the Holy Mountain. Refreshingly weird. Great film. I don't think it's right for me to even consider it a film. It's that weird.

I just watched V for Vendetta, and it was AMAZING. Perhaps what made it so powerful were the facts that I was reading "The Count of Monte Cristo", (about 800 pages in), and the fact that what happened really seems possible. Whatever it was, from the beginning, to the ending, I found the movie INCREDIBLE. 10/10 for sure.

@Kc, Ye, I loved star trek too.

@Jem. I liked IB, but I thought Gamer simply SUCKED. A movie that needs THAT amount of sex themes to carry it through, because it is so lacking in story, well forgive the pun, but it sucks.

Stonewall337 you ought to read the original Alan Moore comic. Both film and graphic novel are standalone but they're still awesome. I prefer the graphic novel though.

Rocky Horror Picture Show. Wtf.

Heh, if you want something weirder but on the same lines as that film watch Pink Flamingoes :P

Went to see Shutter Island at the cinema with my friend the other day, really messes with your head but it's a very good and smartly worked out movie.

Well I've finally done it, I've watched all of Star Trek. That's right, 599 episodes and 11 movies and it only took around 4 months to do.

It all started around 6 months ago. I am a huge sci-fi geek/nerd whatever you want to call it, but I watched Star Wars as a child and therefore I fell on the Wars side of the Wars/Trek battle. Up until 6 months ago I had only seen bits and parts of very few various episodes/movies, not enough to even recognize but one or two scenes as having been seen before. I knew a decent amount about Star Trek though because of pop culture references and the like. So when I was looking through a torrent list and saw the new ST film on there, I figured it was about time to give it a chance. Firstly it was a reboot so I didn't need to watch anything before it, and secondly it was J.J. Abrams so I figured it would be good. When it turned out to be good I started to acquire all the other TV series and movies. About a month later I started watching, and have been watching pretty steadily since then. There have been some weeks when I ended up watching none (playing Mass Effect 2), and another week I didn't have any work that I must have watched a hundred episodes.

"Star Trek" - The Original Series is often considered peoples favourite. This I just don't understand. Since these are the first I watched them first, and almost gave up on my mission to complete ST. I knew some of what to expect, as mentioned above I knew a decent amount about ST and had just watched the reboot not too long ago, so I was really excited when starting to watch these and when they turned out to be boring as [bleep] it was hugely disappointing. The boring part is probably the biggest reason for not liking them, I didn't care for the acting all that much either or the often nonsensical plot (meaning they often do the exact opposite of what their characters would do or any rational being would, just for plot purposes). I also found it to be pretty racist and sexist at times. I'd say I disliked about 95% of it, but after a while of getting to know the characters even when it is bad sometimes you don't mind as much. There were a few cool parts, almost exclusively something to do with Spock, the only likable character on the show. Now this is my review in the way that I felt, as far as I can remember, 3-4 months ago. Since then it has changed some. With time the disappointment wore off, I also finally got around to trying to judge the series in late 60's terms. Most all my qualms with the show were about just the way TV was back then. So in the end I wouldn't say I hated it, just that I thought it was boring.

Then came some of the movies but I am not reviewing any of the 10 movies because I can barely remember what they were amidst everything else.

"Star Trek: The Next Generation" - I came into this series after being extremely disappointed with TOS, so at this point morale was at an all time low. There were still over 500 episodes and 6-7 movies to get through, and up to this point I had not enjoyed my campaign at all. I marched on though, mostly because I like to complete things but I also wanted to choose my side in the Kirk vs. Picard debate (Picard). After watching a few episodes I realized I would like this show a lot more, and I started to see why people like Star Trek so much. This series was probably my favourite of the four (maybe tied with DS9). Still it is not even close to being in my top 5 sci-fi TV series. It was good, but not great.

"Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" - There were more politics in this show than the others, and I really enjoyed that. Reminded me a lot about Babylon 5 (which still blows all Star Trek out of the water). Actually now that I am writing the review I think I will go with DS9 as my favourite, but will leave the previous review like it is so you can see the sudden change.

"Star Trek: Voyager" - Didn't like this one as much as the other two modern ones. Firstly the captain was just annoying as hell. Secondly the premise of the series could have been good but I don't think it was executed very well. Thirdly there were a ton of those god damned time travel episodes, and I hate time travel.

Overall I am glad I watched the catalog. I realize I left out "Enterprise" but many said it wasn't really in continuity and it wasn't very good. I finished the catalog a few hours ago, then re-watched Star Trek for fun. It got me started watching, so might as well finish it off too. There was some different satisfaction from watching it after seeing all the catalog than from watching it before. I knew most everything that was referenced in it before watching the catalog, still it was cool watching after the catalog.

I watched Shooter twice last night.. literally back to back. I watched it and 15 minutes after it ended my mom came home and wanted to watch it too so I watched it again with her. The movie is just *that* good.

Watched Zombieland, which was goddamn hilarious.

Now, I'm watching the Watchmen. Har lame joke. :3

Got like a bazillion movies (well 250ish) off a friend's harddrive, so I should have a lot of things to watch over the holidays.

Planning a movie marathon with some of my nerdish brethren and sistren (I don't know if sistren is a word D: ) tomorrow. Gonna watch Shaun of the Dead, the entire LotR series and then just play it by ear from then. Gonna be so awesome. : D

I watched Zombieland for the third time, and then was forced into watching about 30 mins of some movie with Amanda Bynes where she cuts her hair to play soccer.

Last movie I watched was Hard Candy.

This actually interested me at first because it seemed sort of a thriller, and that's one of my preferred genres (Overall, I like horror the most). It's a film I'd reccomend to anyone, actually going to watch it again.

Saw my favourite film of 2009 again last night: Moon.

Highly recommended to anyone into classic Sci-Fi films (2001: A Space Odyssey, Twelve Monkeys, Blade Runner etc) that are more about making you think rather than blowing things up. Truly amazing film, especially considering how cheap it was to make.

And I completely agree with you Skully regarding Shutter Island. Really does mess with your head, and despite it's B-movie sensibilities I loved it.

I don't think it's right for me to even consider it a film. It's that weird.
