That's a bit biased, taking tips on how jagex runs their polls kaida? So I'll add this- like this post if you don't want it changed.     Just playing devils advocate.

  • There will obviously be a huge arena, just like the Colosseum in italy, and server with a capasity to hold 10k players, then, suomi is in the middle of the arena, 10k people sitting on the seats, then,

  • From the data we have so far, it appears that anyone who is capable of achieving 200m in all skills would be overcome by their ego and then fail to get the final xp.   As of right now, it looks like i

Im sorry, but you just cannot compare an accomplishment in game to the real world. Playing runescape is a waste of time, if you cant see that yet you soon will. We play it because we enjoy it, but spending 1000's of hours on a game is not an accomplishment.

I've been holding off on expressing my opinions, but you tipped the tank. If you are looking for a TL;DR, then just [bleep] off.

Look at it this way: Playing Runescape, you learn how to do many skills. You learn college level economics, high school Algebra, how to work in a team environment, basic leadership skills, basic typing skills, and many more things. Most of these are learned by those who are aiming for max or completionist mainly, even 200m experience, but most players learn up to a certain point of those skills regardless of their intentions in game. If expressed properly, these skills can easily translate into an entry-level position in a decent corporate position making $15+ an hour.

You can argue that high school football is the exact same thing as playing Runescape. You will spend countless hours on something that you like, which may or may not improve your future. While playing football is more physical intensive, at the core, it is no different than playing an online video game. Hell, many people have made money doing both, with gaming being marketed via services such as TGN, Machinima, and self-advertising.

In today's society, more and more jobs are heading towards a intellectual basis rather than physical basis. While having physical strength and being able to bench 300 pounds is ok, most companies will rather have a "computer nerd" at their fingertips. As someone who is both a gamer and has worked in several management positions because of skills I learned from gaming, I do not regret the thousands of hours I have spent "wasting my time".

I played Runescape and other games while studying in high school and college. While studying, I would train woodcutting, mining, etc. I still maintained a 4.0GPA and played Runescape or WoW from 3:00PM to 11:00PM every school night. I would also play several hours on weekends. I still maintained my social life on weekends and many of the people I hung out with were gamers anyway and most played Runescape. The only thing which actually damaged my social life was my over-religious parents. I don't really want to go into details, but I had to sneak out a lot.

If getting 200m experience in a skill or all skills is what makes someone happy, who are we to judge on if that is the correct thing to do anyway? Just let them be happy and encourage them to press on instead of bash them for being dedicated. I would love to see someone here do something with as much dedication without the desire for external gain. It frustrates me to end seeing someone get chastizied for doing something they love. I know first-hand how being sheltered and blocked from doing something I want to do can effect me.

That felt good getting off my chest.

This is true. You learn a lot about "free" markets in MMO's. Things like flipping, arbitrage, long and short term investments, psychology of the masses, planning, and the like.

I've made real friends in MMO's- friend's whose house I've stayed at for days at a time. Friend's I've traveled hundreds of miles with. Friends who talk to each other, give advice about RL stuff from legal talk to cars and PCs. Friends who enjoy killing virtual monsters for virtual prestige.

I've learned how to type at over 100 WPM, as well as learning various research skills, basic programming and various other computer functions that are wildly useful but I wouldn't have otherwise learned. Heck, typing alone improves my ability to play the piano.

I'd even say playing PC games such as RS and WOW have saved me money. Sure, I've spent probably 500 dollars on those games and LOL over the past 5 years, but compared to what else I'd have spent on gas, food, entertainment, and anything, I'd say I've saved a lot.

And for the most part I've enjoyed my time.

So whilst some may disagree and say RS doesn't matter, its a waste of time, etc, they are flat out wrong in making that as a universal claim. You just can't make that claim. My one counter-example shows why that argument fails.

It's also worth noting that the people who disagree are the ones not using logic to defend their posts.

EDIT: Didn't see Kimberly's post before I posted this. Feel free to remove it if deemed necessary. But I disagree w/ the mods and think that, as the sub-topic is germane to the main topic, as topics in GD tend to either die or evolve to fit the flow of discussion, including what may technically be considered "off topic" and whereas the types of people who browse this particular thread tend to be the one's to whom these discussions are most relevant, that doing so would be a serious mistake on the part of the moderation staff.

Suomi had some very impressive hunter gains today. That's encouraging to see.

Forget the hunter, I want to know how he got 1.3M farming xp today.

Grate_Scot.png

S u o m i's 22.5m farm xp is going to cost 330m? Because I don't see how hunt or thieve could cost any

He would need to do, if he does perfect farm tree runs and pays for protection of all tree's:

2 tree runs (10 trees) : 1 Fruit tree run (6 trees)

3 tree runs (15 trees) : 1 calquat run (1 tree)

The odd one and thus the most difficult to calculate with is the fruit tree's. Often taken over 16h while tree runs mostly are steady at 8h a run. (Own experience) So I try to convert rates to X fruit tree runs to X calquat runs.

3 Fruit tree run : 2 Calquat run : 6 tree runs

This one covers 2 full days or 48h.

Assuming he does the highest tree for each of them: Palm for fruit trees and magic for normal trees, he would need 18 palm trees and 30 magic trees aswell as the 2 calquats.

Magic Seeds are currently at: 249,721 each. Netting a cost of 7,491,630 gp for the trees alone.

The payment for each tree costs 52,800 at current prices. Totaling a payment of 1,584,000.

Palm Seeds are currently at: 89,676 each. Netting a cost of 1,614,168 gp.

The payment for each tree costs 19,050 at current prices. Totaling a payment of 342,900.

Calquat Seeds are currently at: 15,776 each. Netting a cost of 31.552 gp.

The payment for each tree costs 5,568 at current prices. Totaling a payment of 11,136.

Total exp gain during these 2 days:

Magic Trees: 417414 exp.

Palm Trees: 189172.8 exp.

Calquat trees: 25033 exp.

Total: 631,619.8 exp

Total costs: 11,075,386 gp.

Total exp needed at current highscores: 22,401,107.

S U O M I would need another 71 days for 200m farming.

(22,401,107 / 631,619.8 (2 days worth of exp) = 35.5 (rounded up

As 35.5 is 2 days of exp each 1, total needs to be doubled so 71 days.)

35.5 * 11,075,386 = 393,176,203 gp needed.

So the calc is a bit off =/ unless either I messed up or the calc includes herb runs =3

Pfew that was fun =D

(Floor(x/160) + 6) * 160

X is the time in minutes in bst. The output is when your fruit tree finishes growing. Replace 160 with 80 and 6 with 11 for magic trees.

Wait wut? I don't get that =/.

Oh well I don't think I'm that far off and besides I was assuming perfect farm runs =(

where can i see the fastest ways to train a skill and their exp rates?

where can i see the fastest ways to train a skill and their exp rates?

You can ask in Help & Advice, you can reference Grimy's Spreadsheets, etc :)

where can i see the fastest ways to train a skill and their exp rates?

There is nothing like a fastest way to train a skill for most skills. It heavily depends on

-how much money are you willing to spend (e.g. if you were to make demonic thrones for construction xp, you could get to 200m in under a day... it would cost a bit under 200b gp though...)

-what's your level (after all, this thread is about maxed players going for 200m all, so it's assuming 99 in the skills)

-how good are you at clicking (e.g. if you're able to alch fishes in between fishing ticks)

-what skills are you interested in...

If you want to know, which methods the top players are using, you can alway browse through the nearly thousand pages of this thread, where people are debating them. If you want some very good guides for skills, check the Archive of Wisdom section of this forum or the skill guides of the tip.it (accessible from the main page). If you want all of the various skilling methods for each and every skill along with their money consumption and their xp rates, I suggest going to the RS Wikia and checking the various P2P Training pages...

Reedtzlol bought member. Does anyone know why? He hasn't gained any experience.

Also, his brother Simon got 200m dg.

If you go p2p and log in/out at least once and then f2p again, you remain on the hiscores now. He may have done it for that. It's been like that for a couple of months now.

After being F2P for nearly three years, I did their two week trial like 2 weeks ago and I am still on the hiscores after going F2P once again.

Most efficient I've ever been on RS - got about 20% more xp overall, which isn't bad for two hour days

Don't forget it takes a couple of weeks for them to remove you off the hiscores once you go F2P again.
