what they need to do is make phats update more than 3% a month. reopen the 5% limits and allow it to update more frequently based on open offers unfilled.

There is no real way of ''fixing'' the price really as the majority of people hold them for investment purposes(it wasn't very prestigious to hold partyhats when they were junk), thus if jagex would ''correct'' the price to the level they should be, say blue at 1.9b, they would just crash and be just as bad junk as they are good street price items right now. I'm fairly sure that there is no price that partyhats could be at and be stable with alot of people wanting to hang on to them(time=money, you lose money holding a high valued stable item).

With a lot of time put into auctions / W2 I'm sure he could have gotten better then a yellow, but from what I gathered from his RSOF post he was just kinda nonchalant about how much he wanted for it but you'd have to wait for him to answer that. I mean, if I got an item like that in the GE I wouldn't be picky about what colour phat I got for it, but hey, that's just me.

 

Pretty much, I see these items ranging from yellow to red depending on number of sellers of the particular item that day/week and patience of the seller.

Yeah, I think I could have gotten more, considering the guy who bought my bottoms paid green for top + fury kit + the fact I saw someone selling top for 450m cash and top bottoms for 850m cash.

I was toying with the idea of upgrading my Yellow for White the other day. I spent 15 minutes reading the RSOF -- trying to understand what it was worth in trade to obtain a White for Yellow. :unsure:

 

After that, I gave it up as incomprehensible ... :blink:

well here's what you'd need to do. for a white you need a red plus yellow (ish). a red is worth a green plus a couple pumpkins.

 

- buy a green phat for 2b, dispose of 1.5b junk.

- buy two pumpkins for about 400m each, dispose of 600m junk.

- trade green plus two pumpkins for red

- trade yellow plus red for white

 

and to the above poster - it's not about excluding the new guy. it's that there are so many new guys and so few old guys wishing to part with their hat (which they may never see again if they do) that the new guys have to compete to get them. the prices go up because some people are willing to pay more than you would for a hat.

True, that would be one of the ways of fixing the prices of phats. (I didn't mean fixating the prices of phats)

 

I still don't see why Jagex hasn't reacted yet, surely they've seen the posts on RWT-forums where they sell off phats for real $.

They know this is because of the huge gap between GE-prices and street-prices.

Yet they do nothing...

And the name of the person forcing you to do it is...? If you break it down like that, the majority if not everything people do in runescape is pretty pointless, but if there are people who like to do it, let them do so. Just because you want something doesn't mean it has to be easy.

this is where you got confused. a white partyhat is worth much more than 500m.

 

also you don't generate 2b junk. you are the one that has to get rid of 2b junk that someone else generated.

 

also, no one is making you do it. if you don't care to do the trades necessary to get what a different colored partyhat, then you don't have to do them.

The generation of junk is where merchants make massive amounts of net. That's why it is used. It effectively allows them to profit through the trade window, which cannot just be done directly with cash due to the trade limits, and 1-5% GE limits.

Hmm, what made you say that? You seem to think criticism necessitates a person being an ass. In this case, rejection of help when asked for makes you appear in a far worse light them my pointing out your doing so.

 

As well, its only worth 30m more ON THE GE. If you havn't noticed, divine is worth LESS then an ely on the GE, but it has far more street. Thats more due to the failures of the GE,which allow lower street priced to update more frequently, due to their being sold more often, then any tie to "real" price.

 

Remember, an item is worth only as much as someone will pay for it.

Or, How about enjoying the fact that you have a DAMN partyhat to wear over your head? There are literally thousands of people on the line waiting to get one.

If you cannot upgrade your phat to a better color, deal with it. Its insane what people have to do to get their hands on one these days.

Some people just don't realize how lucky they are to own a partyhat. I was considering on giving my partyhat away (QFC: 36-37-453-61830382 )

and there were lots of players (from 1000-2480+ total lvl) ALL wanting to get a partyhat. They're that hard to get now.

 

And no, I did not give my partyhat away because a lot of players convinced me enough to keep it....
