Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword

I just got CLS.

 

Its terrible. Feels slow and inaccurate even with defender. I thought maul was a waste of tokens... Rapier is definitely the best first pick among the three. I own all chaotic weps btw.

 

Will test more.

 

Current rank order:

Rapier > Cbow > Maul > Staff > CLS

It's funny to me that the order was so different before people really started studying and using these weapons. CLS was the first on most lists (and still is, funnily enough) when people started getting chaotic weapons, I think.

Try explaining that arma + dfs is no good with whip (at Pest Control, even) and you get told you're just mad you can't afford it. I'm using freaking rapier charge on a perfectly useless minigame, idiots <_< (I still need void mage helm).

Got my rapier finally; I'm 124 cb and was beating a 138 with cls at Kuradal's hellhounds. My first task with it was 10 miths - it was awesome :thumbup:

Unlike some people I try to perform well in a game of pc, which includes chaotics (so in that sense I'm not wasting it). I'm angry cause these idiots blindly chose the side of the more expensive/popular gear (dfs). If everybody were to bring awful gear we wouldn't be winning games at all.

CLS is a little better than I first thought but still not that good. In the most useful setting it could have - safe pvp - it has a limitation of being relatively unreliable. There are a lot of fights where I miss with CLS a bunch of times. With rapier, even if I miss it's not a big deal because I have more rapier attack turns to begin with.

OVERVIEW FOR SAFE PVP. I own all three. I also have extensive pvp experience.

 

Maul: Very good. The extra accuracy is absolutely amazing for both KOing and normal hits. Works well with melee kiting. Only downside is high veng kickback.

CLS: Safe pvp is one of the only good settings for CLS. Even so, it's nowhere near as impressive as maul, and is not as reliable as rapier. With that said, it is not a terrible choice. It can still hold its own, and gives you the opportunity to get lucky.

Rapier: Best for tribriding (maul should be used as a sidearm for barrage into melee kiting)

 

OVERALL RANK ORDERS. Comes from extensive experience using all 5. Order denotes priority of getting them.

Overall: Rapier >> CBow > Maul > CStaff > CLS.

Safe PvP: Maul > CBow > Rapier = CLS > CStaff.

Dangerous PvP: Maul > Rapier = CLS >> CBow > Cstaff.

PvM (bandos w/o Div): Maul > Rapier > CLS

PvM (bandos w/ Div): CLS > Rapier

PvM (TD's): Depends on speed and playstyle

PvM (sara): Maul > CLS > Rapier

PvM (DK's): Rapier > CBow > CStaff > CLS > Maul

PvM (slayer): Rapier >> CBow

As far as dangerous pvp goes, I would agree with TheAncient. CCB and CStaff have terribly low alch rates. I'm not sure, but i'm guessing since mystic keeps over a SoL, mystic would also keep over CStaff. Just my speculation though. And I suppose in safe pvp, assuming you have RCB and SoL, CCB and CStaff aren't too much of an improvement, compared to the others. Once again, just my guess on TheAncient's rankings.

 

Edit: Maybe they fixed mystic/SoL alch values, I'm not sure. But I do recall people whining on release that they kept mystic over SoL's.

the Ccbow is ridiculously more accurate than a RuneCbow.

 

And I guess my view on Cstaff is just based more on the fact that magic is so much fun to use, so the better mage stuff you have, the better it is :P

How is Cstaff worse than others at safe PvP? Magic is dominant at safe Pvp, therefore it only makes sense that the best staff in the game is one of the best safe PvP weapons. I got the staff and it certainly has not disappointed.

And obviously the Rapier is better for all but 1 situation, and I doubt he has a Divine.

I wanne play the game like i want not like evryone say. Why would people use gs istead of whip with slayer because whip>gs

It just fun to see you get high hits.

And these weapons are close to each other so it's more what game stylme u prefer.

I prefer something in the middel so i chose cls.

I think some of you guys forget it it just a game, so it's not a life changing decision :wink:

Cls isn't "the one in the middle" because it only suceeds rapier in one place; Bandos with divine. If you like high hits, you should've gotten a maul ;)
