Nearly finished my chrome version of it, I will release if Jagex don't make one soon (They said they were looking into it).

BTW to the creator of the current chrome one does not work correctly nor does the D&D work.

You should release yours anyway! (the D&D just recently broke today, it was working yesterday fine)

edit: it is working again in version 1.1.1 as opposed to 1.1 which you prob have.

Only bad thing is the fact that whatever I search into a search engine goes into the search bar.

Whatever you search?

It adds everything I mark with my mouse. >.>

Jagex really don't need to worry themselves about making a game bar themselves, even if their effort was commendable. All they need to do is release information like more live D&D statuses, and the community will do the rest. :D

I'm having trouble for the toolbar to work on FF. I clicked to personalize my updates, checked the authorize box, but nothing loaded. I *think* I'm running all the latest versions of Java and FF, and I've tried disabling/enabling, restarting FF, and uninstalling/reinstalling it to no avail.

-FF 3.6.8

-Java 6 update 20

-Windows 7

I think it just might be an issue of my security settings or something..anyone point me in right direction?

Click the arrow beside the Runescape logo > Toolbar Options > Additional Settings > Uncheck the box "Add selected text on the web page to the search box"

Visual of the two features you'll probably want to disable:

toolbardisable.png

And you can uncheck anything else there that you don't want.

Also, if RuneScape custom search was added to your search engines and you don't want it: Click the Search Engines icon --> Click "Manage Search Engines..." --> Click the RuneScape Custom search --> Click "Remove" button

Since Jagex has released the Toolbar and is unlikely to release a chrome compatible version i have decided to release my chrome extension.

So if anyone wants to try another Toolbar extension for chrome, give it a try!. Still needs a few tweaks but if you use it let me know what you think and pm me any suggestions.

Disable any others before using this as it could block the data feeds temporary.

I am a predominat IE user who uses a variety of toolbars. Tried firebox and safari but never noticed any difference so didn't bother switching.

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but you're really missing out. IE is the slowest mainstream browser out there, and you'll benefit from keeping your toolbar count to a minimum for the purpose of screen space and speed. Even if customisation isn't your thing, which will help with speed, you should still make the switch.

Actually IE isn't bad. I did a qualitative and quantitative comparison of IE against 9 other browsers (and not on any sites related to Microsoft, mind you), and it turns out IE typically has more features than other web browsers, and is, on average, the same speed as other browsers (I actually crunched some numbers from hard data). Infact it turns out that the top five browsers (Safari, IE, FF, Chrome, Opera) are basically all the same with varying but miniscule differences.

If you want an overall generally good web browser with features you expect, choose IE.

If you type a lot and care about your spelling, choose Fire Fox.

If you want a browser with more freedom, choose Chrome.

If you want a browser with lots of features, choose Opera.

If you want a browser that... welll... has nothing special about it besides a toned-down, slower IE, choose Safari. (Sorry but as it turns out, according to statistics and available features, Safari is actually quite bad)

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

iIt is all down to a matter of opinion and what you like as you said. I've tried IE and just found it unusable for pretty much anything due to the lag generated on it while Chrome runs fine hence why I've stuck with that.

I read on the high-level forum it's full of adaware so I'm not going to bother.

Quote from AMorganis

I recently decided to test the new RuneScape Gamebar. I'm using Safari on OS X 10.6.4.

For one, it repeatedly crashed the browser. Totally unusable.

I did some digging and it appears that Jagex is using a toolbar-builder website known as Ourtoolbar.com. Why Jagex - with all of its coders - couldn't create their own browser plug-in is beyond me.

This site pays Jagex for every toolbar downloaded and installed. The catch? Ourtoolbar.com is a spyware application that logs personally identifiable information.

Jagex should stop its endorsement of this toolbar immediately and design one themselves, from the ground up, without supporting a company that utilizes adware.

Well web browser just depends on the person i used IE and Firefox i still perfer IE but really its depends on the person(s) and what there tastes are. Hell someone could use the most crappiest web browser in the world and they might say crappybrowser>all browsers. And as Smelly socks said on the last page with the details it looks like im not downloading this game bar.

I wasn't going to get it at first because I don't like toolbars, but i tried it, and it seems very useful as far as toolbars go. I usually don't like toolbars because they take so much room off the top of the screen, but I found it to be easy to turn off if i'm doing other stuff. Good update.

Well, shucks. I really liked this tool bar, but I guess Ill probably uninstall it now. Could someone make one that isnt full of trash? Or Im pretty handy, direct me toward a resource that might help me make one? I was actually thinking about instead of having it as a tool bar, just make a webpage I could load that would fetch the info in the set up I wanted, that I could store locally and would fetch the info from Jagex. Well, Ill look into it more latter. Thanks for the heads up.
