Bonus exp weekend

I'm neutral, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna let this weekend go to waste :shades:

Got around 3k magic potions to be made, was gonna make them last week, but went away before I had time. Now I'm glad I didn't stay up a night to finish them

I don't understand how the time you signed up for tip forums matters at all. This was made in 06 but I have an account under my old noobs name from 04 and I was around for the old forums as well. It doesn't mean anything. I don't like the idea of a double exp weekend because its pushing the game to be easier and easier. How easy do you really want it? I plan to take part though because in my eyes it would be silly of me to miss out on something and allow everyone else to pass me by. I just wish it wasnt happening.

It's to stop RWT.

Where in the Bloody [Freneskae] did you get that idea?

Personally a videogame should have more time enjoying the ability to do stuff than the time getting to where you can do said stuff... thus I would like to say that I respectfully disagree with you and I love the Bonus XP. After playing this game and training for long hours I don't think it subtracts from the game at all, it allows people to get to where they want to be instead of stuck in the seemingly endless limbo that is skillgrinding.

I've never understood the hatred against bonus xp weekends - it's been my impression that the majority of RS players are constantly looking for ways to maximize their xp/hr rates, but when they're handed one of the best ways to do so, people start crying, "It's not fair!" How is it not fair? Disregarding personal connection issues, everyone has equal access to the event - it's not like the weekends are exclusive to members or certain overcrowded worlds - so it's not like some groups of players are favored over others.

Jagex have admittedly made several grievous mistakes over the last few years, but bonus xp weekends are not one of them in my estimate. The overwhelming popularity of Pest Control as a low-risk, efficient method of training many skills is evidence that most players welcome and embrace any and all ways to reduce the grind-factor. Even many of the haters of xp weekends often complain how RS is "click-scape" and training skills past lvl 70 is a grind-fest. It's confusing, then, how something as beneficial and easy as an xp weekend couldn't be anything but useful to reduce clicks and grindage.

good way to prep for 120 cap in all skills

bad way to make skills cheaper - this should be done by developing alternative training methods that profit in exchange for slower exp. (already exists with cleaning herbs, but minigames for a select few other skills would be interesting)

I don't really hate them. With or without, it's still going to take hours to gain a high level in a skill; BXPWs just mean you aren't grinding for as long (though I do agree with summoning being capped to an extent).

The only thing I dislike is Jagex announcing it weeks in advance again. A few days, sure, but it's so difficult to do any normal things until it's over. -.-

It really ticks me off that just when I start seriously training Herblore, they have to go and basically destroy the market for it for at least a month or more. These XP weekends are honestly stupid, and I'd rather see them focus on content that we as players would really like to see. I don't want a weekend of inflated xp rates, I want content that merits giving that higher xp rate.

Farming still stops at 85, and where in Sam Hill is Monk's Friend Part 2!? :ugeek:

Once more, with feeling:

They should just pull out Dung and a few of the bosses and make them available over on FunOrb. That way, the attention defecit crowd who wants to do nothing but slash & hack could only play the parts of the game they want in the way they want, as in “right now and none of this deferred gratification crap that goes along with the rest of RuneScape.” Jagex still gets to collect money from them, and the purity of the game is preserved.

Just pointing out that BEW is for members only. Other than that, I agree with you.

The thing I hate most about these weekends is that a lot of players will be levelling up herb which is smart enough, but it will create more congestion at bosses. This will inevitably lead to more crashing, to more unhappiness, to more rants, to more flame wars etc etc. So personally I hate them lol >.>

*shameless profits off members by hoarding water tallies and limpwurt roots before, and by smelting addy bars in the run up*

How long has it been since the last one? I'll be ticked if they ever release it to f2p... the reason f2pers stay f2p is either because they're poor or they enjoy the challenge of slower skills.

I bet they will, so I'll probably hoard as many big bones, mithril/adamant bars, and uncut sapphires as I can.

Am i the only one who noticed that prices go back to the way they were before the b.e.w?

Oak planks:

In march, they soared nearly 300 gp, much like now. However, they came right back to 550 gp like they normally are. Personally, I don't see a problem other than the potion inflation. So people are complaining that skills are easier to train now. Those people remind me of the crotchety old person who yells at anyone with technology and says, "In my day..."

Change happens. B.E.W's are change. Personally, I will be getting myself a dungeon. If you have a problem with that, in the words of Daniel Tosh, "Make a video of it, and shove it up your ass."

Bionic_Yoshi.png

TT rewards: 2 ranger boots, Zamorak page 1 (2x), Guthix page 1, Ancient page 2

You must construct additional oak larders doors... I mean pylons

Barrows: 10. Total value~22.3 mil. Ahrim Robeskirt is currently the item I have received the most.

While I understand the increased experience weekend, I have to say, many of you are pretty immature towards it.

I find it absolutely astounding that people can get so upset over something like this. Why is this game worth so much to you, that if it is temporarily made a bit easier, you have to throw a fit?

Not everyone has the time to grind out skills all day. Some people have lives, and the exp boost, for me, will allow to me to get more bang for my buck, because I'll only be able to play Runescape on weekends this fall.

Now, I don't think everyone is a no-lifer. And I know, Jagex doesn't need to cater to players like myself because of lack of time.

However, I am saying that you shouldn't be so against it. I'm actually surprised at the way they are doing it, and I am happy they are doing it in the manner they are.

I suggest that those who are so "upset" about the weekend, take some time and think about why it makes you so upset. I'm not denying anyone the right to be upset, but I am encouraging you to think about it. Is it really worth fussing over?

I think the Double XP weekend is helpful for those getting a 99 skill that's not particularly difficult to get (99 Fletching) just a little bit faster with less profit lost.

Keep in mind, My posts are usually made with my perspective in mind. These posts are not supposed to be compared or taken as the average RS player's mind.

Why not use it to get 99 in a skill that is hard to train? That seems to make more sense. To me anyway...

And then, from my lowly F2P point of view, I think it would be better if it wasnt so pre-meditated. Every now and then just throw a notice out on Friday saying: "Double EXP Weekend! Have Fun!" and then just end it on Monday, plain and simple.
