I never realized how big of a problem autoing had become.

I decided to mine some rune essence today, something I very rarely do. I was surprized to see how many combat level 3, 4, and 5 I saw mining. Most of these low combat level players were using the default character appearance.

I did not mine for very long before I started to lag so I switched worlds. When I switched worlds I saw even more of these low combat and default appearance characters. I started adding these people to my friendslist whenever I saw one.

In two trips to the rune essence I found 12. They were all combat level 3-5 and all had the default appearance. All 12 characters I looked up on the highscores only showed on the mining list. The lowest mining level was 49 and the highest for 59.

I have heard others complaining about all the autoers but I had not really experienced this myself intil today. I was suprized to see this after the mass bannings.

One good thing happened when I was there. One of the low combat level guys had his rune pick head fly off. I went and picked it up and he just continued to stand at the rune essence rock. Apparently he had not figured that into his program yet.

But you're right, the autoing problem is huge. It's a good thing that JaGeX banned 15000 accounts.

The bad thing is they are coming back again :(

And they are all pretty mad about that mass ban :?

Soon enough runescape will be p2p only, I cant wait until it is, It will be so much fun and its all the autoers fault.

 p2p only ?

Naaaaah (at least i hope not)

If RS turned P2P only, that would probably solve the autoing problem but would make thousands of people very upset because they can't pay for the game for one reason or the other.

-Like me,and , i think the p2p would benefit from it either.

look at all the ppl that are picking flax most are autoers and are low lvls like 3-10

Oh, right, because that's going to stop them? :|

You need only take a look at the flax fields to see people auto as much on P2P than F2P.

You can make $5 with about 30 minutes of autoing.

This is sick problem!

I went to f2p yew cutting place to buy some low price yews but what i saw in everyone world were default lvl 3 characters with names no one could like, rune woodcutting axe and a wisards hat. And none of them were talking.

Ive heard that a couple of p2p players were banned themselves because of autoing. What kind of people would pay money then risk themselves getting banned:?: :?: :?:

Anyways, I hope Jagex doesnt consider making it a p2p only. Theyll lose a good number of players that can become potential members in the later years.

You see, there are some people tha would actually pay money for cash in Runescape, so autoers pay $5 a month, then make some millions and sell them on Ebay.

This signature is intentionally left blank.

the banned accounts just made new ones and because they no longer have their main because the isp banned accounts, they dont care if these get banned or not

Dragon Drops: 5 medium helmet, 3 left shield half

Obby: Maul 1, Cape 1, Shield 1

RuneScape being p2p only would almost make it like a bought CD game...

That would be really sad to us f2p players.

Jagex will just keep banning them, only problem is it takes the along time to get around to it.

yep and all those autoers they banned before are going to start autoing the hell out of runescape because there mad that all there accounts got banned instead of just there "throw away ones".And if those autoers got ip banned from the site anyone with a IQ of 2 could get around a ip ban.

15k wasnt nearly all autoers... it was just some flax pickers and woodcutters... most fishers, miners, and ess collectors were left intact... I estimate there are ATLEAST another 100k autoing accounts (not even counting auto typers) left... plus their mains :\

The banning of the main accounts helped only a little, but its not even a stop-gap measure... drop... hot plate... cliche...

I wonder why jagex doesnt browse ebay like that, and "phish"-ed for the accounts involved... it would effectly shut down most auto-ers main source of income, meaning no more reason to make auto-ers, let alone cash to make p2p auto-ers...

So far all we can do is report and keep on reporting, so jagex will frequent the often-autoed-at spots, and shutting down/keeping tabs on the autoers, and keep on closing them, including their mains...

it would also means more rares will be removed from the economy :)

TO AUTO-ERS: Hate me now... But if you think my ideas are not a threat to your scheming ways of making money of an honest game... I'll gladly meet up with you... Give you a chance to change your mind

i was wondering.. perhaps jagex could plant more highway man and muggers etc at such sites..

yesterdae i saw a default player got killed by a mugger..

aniway.. not all low levels are autoers.. got a mate who actualli pm one.. tat fella could reply back.. unless they have such powers where they could be programmed to interact.. lol..

yeah, whats sad is that autoers are selling their profits on ebay(if u look ebay has bout 400 topics for rs instead of the 50-75 it used to be... So people are gettin rich just by letting there computer auto some gp..

why would someone pay for this stuff

This isn't bad, some dude payed 20k $ to get his own island on a game and other buy payed 100k ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã to get his own space station.

Some ppl are just plain crazy.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either

a fool or a coward.

Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law

is both.

For a wounded man shall say to his assailant:

"If I live, I will kill you, If I Die, you are forgiven."

Such is the Rule of Honor.

theyre probably using aryan, its like SCAR jr and will make SCAR like die or whatever apparently and noone using aryan got banned

485th person to ever play RuneScape

Blue107- perm banned 10/12/2007. $300 USD reward if you can get me in contact with someone who will take 5 seconds to look at evidence and get my original character unbanned.

If jagex actually found a surefire way of banning them it wouldn't be a problem.. They used a technique that invovled lots of bandwidth to ban 15,000 players so they couldn't keep it going forever.

I've read a lot of posts talking about autoers, but experienced it firsthand for the first time this morning.

I was in world 86 in the Varrock East back. I watched in facination as a whole line of default characters formed a steady line from the bank to the ess teleport location and back. It was non-stop. I can only estimate that there were 10-15 of them. All the same, all low level (3-5) and all with doofy names. I tried reporting as many as I could for macroing, but I started getting "don't abuse the reporting system" messages.

Perhaps the best way to handle this would be to get a couple JAGEX mods to just stand outside the banks in free worlds at a couple peak times and give them the ability to ban these autoers on the spot. Or, as was suggested, add muggers and the like around those places. It will make life harder on true low level characters, but at least they can run.

Another possibility is to close the doors to the bank and have people enter there pin to open the doors. I'm sure some could code around that, but it would deter most. Or require a bank pin, and have to enter a random pattern each time you access the bank (like some online stores have to foil bots).
