Title pretty much sums it up. I had a thread about this ages ago but it seems to off died off, oh well. Wasn't sure whether or not to post it here or in Tech and Computers, feel free to move if need be.

I have 70kb/s 'high speed' public internet.

College dorm. This is the speed I want at home, more than this would be impractical for my needs (currently I have 160Kb/s at home, which is fine if you're the only one using it but gets annoying if you're sharing the bandwidth). I don't exactly need that high of upload speeds though.

Anyone know a good internet provider for around 8Mb/s download and 4 to 8Mb/s upload in the US (e.g. cheapest)?

You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?

It's not too bad, given the fact is Australian internet...

I have a less than desirable upload rate, but besides that, it's pretty decent, I suppose.

From my flat.

Probaly the fastest possible connection I can get without being on the uni network.

Compare that to my horrendous internet at my house!

Apparently speedtest.net has trouble with Bell Aliant FiberOp so I also did a test with another one.

Our home network, pretty swank. I'm on wireless though. We get 50Mb Virgin Media cable. Later this year we get a free upgrade to 120Mb when they update our local network.

This looks sweet :D
