Tribute to Guthix and New Combat Abilities

All these lore talks are such teases. Can we just cancel whatever Warbands or whatever other dead content they have in store for us and direct all those developers to the quest sections. Given their decision to make all quests accessible, I'd have thought that this would be the year of quests, if nothing else. 1-2 more GM quests, pl0x.

I'm not sure how I feel about 0wn3dy0u4051 potentially being the descendant of the most powerful god in RS

I'm quite looking forward to Warbands myself. As good as quests are, I'd rather see what other content they are producing and how it will relate to the gods. After all, as they have stated quite a few times now, most, if not all actual game content released this year will relate to the Gods; not just quests.

Nothing new though, happens a lot in D&D and such.

More than anything else, what annoyed me the most is that it's been done, and virtually everyone else has done it better. I know of a Nintendo game on the Wii that handled that plot with much more subtlety and depth. In this case, it's disappointing that Jagex went one-note villain on them because that made the whole thing feel like they were beating you over the head with the message.

Agreed. I hate the wilderness, but from what I've read about the two new skills I think I'll actually like this a little bit more. :)

Used the frostenhorn on the Stone of Jas.

I became a god.

Used the enchanted key on the frostenhorn.

Nothing interesting happened.

No, I believe it worked.

That's a joke, ladies and gentlemen.

I meant in the future quests could it be a possibility?

Robbstarkded.png

What is the reason that is attracting the gods to runescape? Osbourne said that first, was the fact that the stone of Jas is in Gielinor, the other is that they feel compelled to be there, which is supposedly mentioned during the tribute of guthix event, anything I'm missing?

It could just be that they eventually ended up here as a result of looking for more followers, much like how Guthix's home plane was invaded.

Does anyone else think the term "multiverse" is pants-on-head retarded?

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

Why don't some of you go look into the concept of Magic: The Gatherings multiverse. While you are at it look into what planeswalking is from MTG and what a planeswalker is. i think our 'gods' ate viewd as gods but are more akin to what planeswalkers are. I'm fairly certain that runescape might be viewed at a plan of existence moreso that a world within a universe. Gielenor being the planet we are on.

It's not like "multiverse" is something Jagex made up. It's an actual real word in actual English.

It doesn't make it any less stupid. "Universe" is meant to be the all encompassing entirety of existence. "Multiverse" is just redundant.

If nothing else, it makes it pretty stupid to gripe about it.

Yeah let's stop griping about this... It's all conceptual anyways when jagex uses terms like multiverse anyways. All we need to know is that the gods can essentially 'walk' from one world to the next. How log this might take is unknown though.

Can go on all day, the point is, the term "multiverse" is not redundant, far from it actually... May I suggest you consider the idea of looking at a universe as a "plane" of existence with its own natural "rules", and compare it to a multiverse, where there might be other universes with different rules? I guess that's the tl;dr version.

Right, exactly its more than one plan of existence.

It's not really a plane though, people just use that because it's hard to visualize extra dimensions.

How do you know when jagex never stated that a place such as Franeskae lies somewhere in the distance from Gielenor? I suppose it would be common knowledge now to assume those two places aren't in fact planes, but worlds on two different planes.

Dimensions = planes.

Whilst multiverse is a sound idea the trouble with the Jagex lore at the moment is the Origins of Gielinor and mentions of 'planets' in TWW and the Guthix memories very much establishes the idea that it is a singular universe in which we reside.

Yet their use of 'multiverse' implies kind of the exact opposite - we aren't in a big universe of lots of planets instead we are in a relatively small universe with others running parallel from which these other homeworlds derive.

Well, natural laws seem to change between the planes in Runescape (sound and light working differently, bleeding walls, etc...), but then again, Runescape has magic lol... Guess we'll never know but they do heavily imply the use of other "dimensions" altho they might aswell just mean a different universe (people oblivious to string theory simply say other "dimensions", and don't realize this is an escalating therm).
