Whats the betting the world crashing phase 5 attack is one of the things causing the 'unrelated engine issue' they said delayed it to weds and that said 'unrelated engine issue' is why it was supposed to 'need html5'

 

Aka it was coded for the new engine and has been patched backwards into rs2 to fill a content gap but isn't working right.

Apparently some le funny guy was DDOSing the world Darden was in. I guess that explains the timing of it, and it makes sense; any douchebag with a LOIC watching his livesteam would know which world to hit.

Well that explains one particular instance of DC, but that doesn't explain what others are experiencing.

 

I tried it with my clan this morning right after release. We were enjoying trudging our way through it, not quite knowing what we needed to do.

 

One thing I did notice was that after death we were not able to rejoin the fight. Kept saying the battle was not found. Has that been fixed? Or was that intentional?

I'm not really understanding this. Everyone on his livestream was telling him to turn it off so that people wouldn't DDOS the world any more, but how would someone go about DDOSing an entire world in the first place?

 

I suppose I understand that a world has an IP address, but surely it's really difficult for someone to find these addresses and potentially even more difficult to know offhand what address is linked to what world? Forgive me if that's a stupid thing to say, but I'm a little bit cynical of the DDOS theory Dardan etc have.

They didn't DDOS one world. At least 12 worlds were taken down when he was hit.

Edit- nvm apparently a j-mod confirmed it was a server ddos.

Naturally. I imagine all of the servers in any given locale has a common IP on the router.

 

They did announce the boss well in advance... probably some group of wonderful people planned this and are yuk yuking it up right now.

The instance you join is an instance of the pre-fight area where you take the 50k damage. In order to then join the fight, you need to accept a share of the 50k damage.

What he meant to say is 'defensive abilities were designed to be used on normal monsters'.

Defence is never used for normal monsters. If you think defence is for normal monsters, you need to review your setups.

This is some strange logic right here.

 

Normal monsters are what you need defence for to make farming sustainable and profitable. Offence matters little because everything dies in a few hits anyway. Bosses are all about dps and killing them before you waste half your consumables in a single kill, and you're going to take a ton of damage regardless so defence is less important.

 

I also asked Chaose why they aren't designing bosses using 'real' abilities and he said something like 'we just released a boss, give us a break'. He seemed to think that defensive abilities are useful enough even though they don't work on specials. I feel that defensive abilities ought to be useful, and that bosses are powerful despite them, but ok.

He seems to be a smart person.

 

More on-topic, I like that the phases aren't all about dps, so bringing 50 people doesn't mean you're killing the boss in a few seconds. Saw some streams where people clearly weren't realizing that it's not necessary to go all-out dps before the weapon piece is obtained, since the boss will just heal endlessly. Might as well hold back and use your defensive abilities (omg it's as if they're not useless!) until the objectives are completed.

Offence matters little because everything dies in a few hits anyway.

I am aware of the damage. What I am saying is, that after dying DURING the fight and retrieving our stuff from the graveyard, we click on the entrance which gives the option to re-join the instance you were in. When I selected that, it said Battle not found, though the rest of the team was still inside. Are you saying that even after dying I need to go through the 50k pre-fight damage again before rejoining the fight in progress?

This is exactly why I was asking. It was extremely disappointing to be given the option, particularly on a boss that Jagex claims they waant us to "figure out" but not actually allowed to rejoin our teammates.

No.

 

Camping is sustainable because of soul split. It is profitable because prayer is cheap. Offence matters a lot because that's exactly what you need to kill 'everything'. (some) Bosses will kill you if you don't heal with food, and healing with food drains adrenaline, which reduces your damage output, which reduces your kill rate, which reduces your profit, which is bad.

 

So basically, you fall under what I posted before: Review your setups :P.

Honestly I think the new armor blows, having it degrade to nothing was a sad attempt to keep nex armor alive in my opinion, and the original cost makes no sense for an armor that'll turn to dust, I'm thinking vorago will only be profitable for the wand/orb unless they change the mechanics behind the armor
