NO.... -.-

Too bad for you if they make it a trim requirement :P

I would *love* to see at least second prestige be a Trim requirement. Then at least it would be a cape of true completion, and not just the AFK Castlewars cape.

You mean get 99 all skills 2x and still have to AFK Castle Wars cape.

and why would anyone want to do this ever? Makes it seem like jagex is too lazy to come up with endgame content, so they just added a restart option instead.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I'm not sure if I'll utilise this but it does sound interesting.

"low level" areas will be more crowded again as people who want to increase their combat skills prestige level will start fighting there again.

I think it might be a nice way to even out the population density between all the areas a bit.

A better option would be to let people reset EVERYTHING to a new character and then prestige by earning max/comp again while keeping their same username.

EDIT: Once they max again they can get a pretty prestige star and some cosmetic shit while they're at it.

I'll only look at prestiging once I am 100% maxed and even then it depends what the rewards are since I dont care for ranks.

No they won't you only have to reset one combat skill at a time, so we'll just see people training at high level areas using bronze weapons, or using drygores but barely hitting, or wearing bronze while praying SS and using vamp aura/scrim.

You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.

I don't think it's going to hurt the game, it may even help the economy a bit*, and it might be a bit fun to reset a whole account to level 1, rather than starting a new account, but I don't think it's the update that the game needs to grow and get better. That said, prestiging hp anyone?

*I suppose it's also possible that experienced players will hog critical resources that new low-mid levels need, but then the low-mid levels could at least harvest those resources while prestigers buy them with their high-level wealth.

I think this is completely dumb, however it probably is because i play RS in an objective manor therefor I just want to reach the highest possible goals. This is like taking my bar I set and making it infinitely high, therefore ruining the point. Thats probably everyone else high level's view too

wait i'm confused about one thing here...

is each reset still going to require 13mil xp to go level 1-99 and your lifetime xp in that skill becomes 26mil

or does each reset require an additional 13mil xp to got level 1-99 so 1st reset then requires 26mil to be 99 again so therefore your lifetime xp will be 39mil in said skill?

small issue, OP...could you maybe stick some indentation like it was in the original article? thanks.

anything with the potential to uncover balance issues is okay in my book

should probably invest in some bones now before they get flippin bought out again

adding more requirements to an annoying, pointless cape trimming milestone does not make it less annoying or pointless

Not to mention I could reset def but have atk and str at 99 and go wreck pvp or get it up super quick

Dreyri is apparently planning to reset def and get 1-99 in ~14-15 hours at glacors L

Good luck 'wrecking' pvp in a game where pvp barely exists and pures are next to useless.

Random thought:

Could this not be totally abused for dg?

Turn on all the prestiges > start floor > turn them off > enjoy floor designed for lvl 1 skills with maxed stats.

I know not a major abuse, but could aid people in some situations.

Wow, been wanting this in RS for so so so long, and it's finally coming :D

Honestly, I don't see why there is such a negative reaction to this. I do understand based on people with 200m in skills being rated as lower than someone who got 99 and just reset immediately, but how could refreshing competition in the highscores be a bad thing? I personally have 1.2b overall exp, a few skills over 100m, and almost all skills at 26m+, and I am still incredibly excited to reset all of that to have a new beginning again. Sure I lose alot of my higher ranks, but it gives everyone an equal playing ground, while still not taking away any past accomplishments as you can just revert to normal at any time.

I only hope I am reading it right that if I have 50m exp in a skill, reset, and gain 10m exp as Prestige 1, that my "lifetime" exp on the "old" highscores becomes 60m. Also would be cool if that 60m comes when I revert to my old stats again, so progress isn't SOLELY allocated to my prestige instead of my overall account.

@ Sy, I believe both turning off, as well as turning on prestige has to be done at a bank. So you wouldn't be able to reset anything once you're in a dungeon.

This could be interesting.. I wish they would require combats to reset all at once, so that way you can't just keep most at 99 and still not have to do lower lvl things.

The nice thing is that if enough poeple prestige, the lower tier resources will matter a tiny bit more because the lower levels will take more xp and more time, so those spots could stll be somewhat crowded.

I think the thing I see is that it ruins the bar for new players even more though, because those new players still can't catch up. It doesn't give someone who's starting tomorrow a chance for the number 1 spot.

I suggested and talked about a prestige system a long while ago. This is a good update and there is nothing wrong with it. Heck this would breath life into the lesser areas that players feel they shouldn't have to train at.

I'm sorry but everyone who feels its a bad update is probably based off of the glaringly obvious characteristic that you might have to pay to turn it off. That part I understand because at that point you shouldn't have to when new content comes out and you way to play it.

An extreme example would be prestige 200. It is 231k xp for levels 1-10. So yeah, for smithing, copper and tin would be used for longer. But 92-99 is still 1.3 billion xp at prestige 200. So higher level ores are going to be way way more in demand. Because you will use them for so so much longer.

I'm pretty sure that with prestige 15 = 195m, that 16 + would always be the same exp per level @ 200m for 99. This would mean that after prestige 16, there is no more increasing of base exp, and would be the same exp per level for every prestige after. This would make the most sense to me.

Prestige systems have always been a way to remove the level cap in gaming - a lazy way, yes, but a way.

I'm not terribly surprised that they're doing this, but I feel like they'll cite the people who urged the skill caps to be raised to 120 as a reason behind an update such as this.

Problem with that is this is completely different than increasing the level cap. Eventually they'll start adding benefits to the prestige system, like many games do, to urge people to keep playing and leveling. And with it, they'll start adding items, for-pay, to bypass some of the leveling as the exponential growth of resetting your skill's prestige becomes too ridiculous. This sort of thing absolutely should not be taking place in the game, or like the joking references I've made to Conquer Online over the years, Runescape will become that joke mmo that all other MMOs are warned against becoming.

They're obviously going to go through with it at this point regardless of player feedback to the contrary, just like they did with Microtransactions. Because of that, I'm not going to waste my time and energy into a pointless battle. Just be prepared to milk the game for all the fun you can. Leave your bags packed at the door to be prepared for a hasty retreat.

So very disheartening. So very shameful. (wow such update so shame not same dogescape anymore)

Prestige will probably cap at a certain number like maybe 10?

Hopefully there is a system to pull how much xp players already have when this goes live. I would hate to see people with 200m stats lose xp to use on it.
