At the moment most of the clients out there (including ss) are still against the rules and NOT ok to use - as they are still endangering users or encouraging rule breaking in some way.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

However, we've now improved the rules so if the authors fix their client to be safe, they will not be against the rules after they have done that. Some of the authors have already indicated they will be doing so over the weekend. Of course, we still maintain it's an awful lot safer just to play right here at runescape.com - also we're still planning on adding our own group chat features directly into the game. We do not endorse or recommend ANY third party RuneScape programs.

Jagex did a great job here. They have shown us, that they listen. They are helping a LOT of people, by allowing clients again (ok, not all, I know). That is very different from being weak. You don't want an Jagex that doesnt listen to us players just because they'd be weak otherwise, don't you? At least, I certainly don't.

I suppose this is the millionth time this question has been asked, but can Jagex even tell if people use a 3rd party client? And anyway... you can still use SwiftSwitch, but you're not supposed to.

The funny thing is that this will have the complete reverse effect. Instead of making 3d party cliens less popular, they have gotten so much attention now that they will be more popular. Especially SS has gotten quite some free advertisement...

Wow. I am amazed and surprised with Jagex. I've never known them to go back on there word. I am extremely happy though as I loved the program and Jagex has inspected it (or they never would have allowed it). So maybe we will see more people in #tip-it :D

The reason people rely on SS so much is due to it turning runescape into a game rather then just a browser, what Jagex and the rest of you haters don't realise is swiftswitch is part of runescape for 1000's of players, without swiftswitch Runescape just becomes a browser based game with little to keep you coming back.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When I click my swiftswitch icon on the desktop it's as if I am playing a proper game, typing http://www.runescape.com into a browser just does not feel right, the notepad alone in SS is worth its weight in gold and the stat lookup part is invaluable, alot of people in RS lookup peoples stats as they see them, I know I do, and this is very importent as it gives you somthing else to do which is "nosey" and intriguing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I applaud Jagex for reversing the desision at least untill they can offer an alternative and when they do offer somthing we will all be happy and they won't have a mutiny on their hands...... :)

yeah, i believe its even explained in SS what ports to put open...

Personally, I don't use SS anyway much, so it wouldn't bother me if it was banned. I find a quicker way of getting into the world I need to is by entering the worlds URL. I have posted this in the General Forum for TIF members to use.

Aw...damn, this is gonna suck. Now I have to see all those annoying ads on the rs website and scroll down to the world I use. This isn't really fair, it's our choice whether we want to use it or not. Whether it's safe or not, it's still our choice. SS helped me with easy highscore checking since I'm too lazy to pull up Firefox or IE and do all that stuff to get onto the RS website...We are not gaining advantage over other players, they have the right to use it aswell. Atleast half of RS uses some kind of world switcher...SS is one of the popular ones, looking at the download amount. Are they afraid of half of RS population will get hacked and most of them stop paying membership? A part of my mind thinks that...This HAS to be the worse update this year...hopefully it won't continue going downhill.

Using SS doesn't make you lazy - it's a convenience tool. You seem like the kind of person who would rather train on chickens than bandits or something because any easier, more efficient training method would make you "lazy" :?

To the above, ss is for lazy people..They only use it so they can hop fast and save 20 secs loading the highscores from the rs site.
