November 1, 200817 yr Nevertheless, I must acknowledge that some people are not blessed with my sense of style. Thessalia, furthermore, has complained that she doesn't find it profitable to hand out fine clothes in exchange for frog tokens; her collection of tokens is considerably larger even than your own. The Council has requested that I offer a wide range of rewards to those who help me, including things like runes and coins, in addition to clothes for those with sufficient taste to appreciate such things. I must ponder this matter carefully. It is a laborious task (that goes on and on, ad nauseum), albeit a legally necessary one...at least for the time being. We are most hopeful that this little piece of bureaucracy will soon be a thing of the past, and we can all go on a well-deserved holiday, or possibly even retire. I'm sure you know how long these small legal issues can take to resolve. In the meantime, if you can lessen your annoyance, we shall speed up this process - quid pro quo, no? Thanks msiGC for posting the above. Random events: We had planned some work on the random events of RuneScape quite some time ago. We were looking to see if we could remove most of them, because a decent number were not particularly good at stopping modern-day bots. Since the threat of bots and macros has been largely removed, we feel that this is a perfect opportunity to address the problem again. For the moment, we are concentrating on our PvP minigames to compensate for the Wilderness changes, but the random event proposal has been approved and is in the pipeline. NOTE - We are certainly not removing every single random event. This proposal gives us the chance to reassess them, see if they are doing their job properly and then take action: removing those that do not work, adding to those that do and improving the rewards of all that remain! "Some work"? "Reassess"? "Wider range of rewards"? "Possibly even retire"? If you ask me, it seems we will experience a change in random events shortly. I noticed the Behind the Scenes: November isn't up yet. Perhaps it will be this month? Next month? The perfect Christmas gift by Jagex? IJagex appears to not have forgotten our age-old complaints about Random Events. From what I can tell, Random Events will get the following changes: Removal of some: Guessing the Whirlpool/Smoking Rock, Golem/Troll, Pickaxe loss, etc. How annoying have we found these? Very. How effective are they? Not very. Seems logical, correct? Expansion of some: The Frog mentioned above. Runes and money? Seems good, but remember randoms like the Mime also give money rewards at 500gp. Hopefully Jagex won't decide to adopt this. How old are random events? A few years at least, and over that time the 500gp has gotten more and more worthless. As far as I can tell, the 25gp all new players start with has been around since RS2 or Classic. How much was it then? Now? I think Jagex will offer us far better rewards for random events. Also consider the Distractions. Perhaps some Randoms will just become F2P or lesser versions of the Distractions events? Leaving some alone: From what I can tell, genie and quiz will remain the same. Who would want those removed? Plus knowing Jagex they won't increase the xp rewards. I also predict that clothing randoms will remain largely the the same, but will offer better rewards with the complete set. That's my interpretation. Think what you will of it, but I would like to hear your arguments, predictions, and discussions as well. EDIT: 2009 Releases! Well, this is the challenge that weve set ourselves: 2009 has become our official Upgrade Year! So, what does that mean? It means our New Year's resolution is to tweak and polish what we've already got in the game alongside creating new content. ... Weve been trawling the forums, pooling opinions from our game teams and inviting everyone at Jagex HQ to voice their opinions on what theyd like to see in an upgraded RuneScape. As a regular player, there will no doubt be at least one feature youve always wanted to see introduced, to make your time in RuneScape even better. Chances are that its already on our list, but to be on the safe side, why not let us know? Well be monitoring the forums, so please tell us what you want to see. We cant promise we'll do everything, but well try to incorporate any particular trends we see into our plans, and let you know. Upgrade year! You know what that means, improving the random events? It just might be! And look, they've been reading and considering RSOF posts, that means all of those ranters complaining about randoms have actually have played their part. ~It's Super Effective! November 1, 200817 yr I imagine some of the more unnecessary random events will be removed, those which have no real reward. I also hope that certain other will be changed with possibly more rewards, no doubt these will be released with the November behind the scenes ;)
November 1, 200817 yr Some are going to be changed, and few others will join the Tangle Vine and Dr.Forde in the Foster Home for Unwanted Random Event. Sandwich Lady will have to go, since even Drunken Dwarf have better reward than just one sandwich. I hope that Frog event will give out more awards than just tokens and cloth events give more than just 500gp when a player has the complete set. The Haraguroi Club: Where Yandere Thrive for Chopping
November 1, 200817 yr i hope they increase the $ amt from money giving randoms.... 500gp is so little i drop ity... i value a d'hide i get from dragons over the mimes reward... specialy when i kill the dragon faster than i do the random i like emotes... those are nice
November 1, 200817 yr Jagex has removed randoms in the past, as well as added a few whos to say they cant add/remove more?
November 1, 200817 yr I'm guessing you must be awfully bored. The jagex said that they will do it, so yes they will be changed/removed soon ;) 2480+ total

November 1, 200817 yr In a Postbag a few months ago I think a NPC said that there could be more rewards for Ectotokens in the future too. I certainly hope it's for November.
November 1, 200817 yr Author I'm guessing you must be awfully bored. Actually it just sprang into my mind when I read it. :P Thanks for that quote msiGC, I'll add it to the post. ~It's Super Effective! November 1, 200817 yr Doesn't actually mean it'll happen this month, though I hope it will. Remember the Wise Old Man and his map for getting into Priffindas? Or the Phoenix? Though it would please the bast majority of players, Jagex appears to prefer creating new content to fixing old. If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy Camera guy: runs away still laughing Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]! Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!
November 1, 200817 yr If they do get removed soon, I hope they get rid of the Tree Ent. When I AFK, it REALLY gets annoying to have to repair an axe, >.>.
November 1, 200817 yr I hope this is true, i've also been waiting on BTS november to find it still not released and it's the 2nd over here lol
November 2, 200817 yr I honestly hope so... some of the ones are just dumb. Especially when you're at dust devils and you want to pick up a drop. My friend got a d chain at dusties, buried a bone to pick it up, Mime random, didn't get back to it in time -.- ..... Stupid :x
November 2, 200817 yr Just as long as ALL teleporting ones are destroyed I will be happy. I would happily give up knowledge books to never have to waste 5 minutes going through a maze. I mean, seriously, wtf, why do we need to do something as long as the maze to prove we are not macroing when other times in the same cases simply talking to a randumb event is enough.
November 2, 200817 yr I think I agree nearly 100% with the original poster, although from Jagex's perspective, I guess the most important factor is how well the random catches autoers. I would expect (at least hope) the remaining randoms to fairly compensate for their respective levels of annoying. Maxed total levelsRemaining for Completionist Cape: Livid Farm spell (Borrowed Power)
November 2, 200817 yr No matter how much I hope, the stupid, moronic mime won't leave me alone.

When I AFK, it REALLY gets annoying to have to repair an axe, >.>.You do know that afk-ing is against the rules? I'm not sure Jagex will be sympathetic to that plea. I hope that when you have all the pieces to an outfit, (Mime, Drill Demon, etc.) you no longer get that random event. I love to meet people; send me a pm if you see me on RuneScape! :)

My friend got a d chain at dusties, buried a bone to pick it up, Mime random, didn't get back to it in time -.- ..... Stupid :x Why would you bury a bone instead of picking up the dchain first  I think he had a full inventory. But well, he should drop the bone and pick up the d chain instead. It's common knowledge that you'll often get a random by burying one random bone after a long time without any randoms (happens very often at 99 pray partys). I think I agree nearly 100% with the original poster, although from Jagex's perspective, I guess the most important factor is how well the random catches autoers. I would expect (at least hope) the remaining randoms to fairly compensate for their respective levels of annoying. Yeah, autoers have no problems with randoms. I think they are even faster than most players. But new randoms won't make a difference. After a short ammount of time the autoers will learn how to deal with them. So why not just "remove" them as putting them somewhere and you can talk to them once a week to do the events. I would happily give up knowledge books to never have to waste 5 minutes going through a maze. Maze is the best way to use my time effectively. I would miss it. :( [404] Signature not found.

The ent when they updated it is so hard to notice when you're not paying attention slightly >.>. But I hope that they do this, even though I don't get many in the ge :twss:.
November 2, 200817 yr I personally can't wait to have them removed. Imagine PKing and then getting teleported by a random event. You then get teleported into a large clan of 120+.
