  1. Kids who think there are no adults on RS. No, I would not like to talk about how to get your mother to pay you more pocket money and extend your curfew. I would much rather discuss the situation in Zimbabwe and how to debunk the claims of climate change conspiracy theorists. Now get off my lawn  Also, the kiddie glove things like warnings all over the place. Has somebody actually managed to die in the Mort Myre Swamp?
  2. 3) The Good days Now. I've never played RSC, but I have played for almost the whole time RS2 has been around. Today Runescape is a massive game almost completely free of autoing and real world trading which makes the game enjoyable and fair. GE has made trading a breeze and RSHD got me back to the game after a long break last summer. Of course I sometimes long for the days of being a newb and finding things out for the very first time, but the game is still better off now than at any other point during my RS career.
  3. If it's just for one month, agility is the obvious answer as the effects on the drain and recovery of your running energy carry over to f2p. Prayer is very hard to train on f2p, but much easier in p2p. Also, remember to get the best tombstone.
  4. Start by doing the goblin generals part of RFD for 1k exp. Then plant the best things you can while buying the seeds, payment for the farmer to look out for your crops and supercompost for what can't be protected. Check out the Tip.it farming guide to learn the basics for farming and how much it costs to protect your crops. Keep doing the quests that give farming exp as you reach the levels required for them. You'll be using fairy rings and making money from herbs before you know it. *Edit: Buy calquat fruits to start making supercompost right from the start.
  5. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Morphic_tool Click on the tools that don't show any exp values on that page. They have the exp info on their respective pages. (Except for the butterfly net.)
  6. This belongs in Questionnares. Runecrafting followed by mining. Just getting 60 rc in f2p is an achievement that very few will get to before their first 99. Mining offers a good way to make money at 85, but f2p rc is just a slow bitter gring until the very end.

Happy day of ?ostre! The Spring Equinox has passed! May the god of sun be favourable to us this year. Let us celebrate with pagan symbols of fertility such as eggs. Oh, and Jesus appearently resurrected. Good for him. Yeah, it's an absurdly pagan Christian holiday, but at least we get to feed tourists [cabbage] for one day. \Psst, don't tell anybody that I told you what "mämmi" really is.

  9. I think you can get the amount of bodies crafted/hour by looking for a crafting guide and dividing the exp/hour by exp/body crafted. According to the Runescape Wiki sc needles give around 22k exp for a total of about 44k exp per needle. Exact numbers here: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Sacred_clay_needle
  10. About one month. It's kinda hard to estimate because you'll be burning a lot of those monks if you start cooking them at your level. Why not make some money, train until 68 cooking with tuna, from there to 82 with lobsters (with cooking gauntlets), then to 90 with swordies and then cook monks? You'll be able to sell the raw monks that are left over and it will take less time in total. Also, the caps thing is like an annoying thing with everyone else. Welcome to RS btw. (Judging by the 14 hours a day you play I'm guessing you've started your account a few weeks ago.)
  11. Well, if you want to just make a bit of money for blue dragons quickly you can: -Try out a new moneymaking method like making spell tabs in your house and then go kill blue dragons -Do quests/other time wasting things and get money at the same time for blue drags with MTK + Zaff's Staffs + Herb farming -Get a few ranged levels and money from aviansies and then go to the blue drags Also, if you do decide you want to try out RC I recommend watching this video for efficient ZMI crafting: If you don't want to do any of those things you can watch this video: because then you're basically asking "What should I do in RS other than rc?"
  12. According to Lady Shahdie's guide at viewtopic.php?f=180&t=761848 the respawn times for rune ores are as follows: Full World (2000): 12 minutes and 30 seconds 1900 People: 13 minutes 1800 People: 13 minutes and 30 seconds 1700 People: 14 minutes 1600 People: 14 minutes and 30 seconds 1500 People: 15 minutes 1400 People: 15 minutes and 30 seconds 1300 People: 16 minutes 1200 People: 16 minutes and 30 seconds 1100 People: 17 minutes 1000 People: 17 minutes and 30 seconds 900 People: 18 minutes 800 People: 18 minutes and 30 seconds 700 People: 19 minutes 600 People: 19 minutes and 30 seconds 500 People: 20 minutes 400 People: 20 minutes and 30 seconds 300 People: 21 minutes 200 People: 21 minutes and 30 seconds 100 People: 22 minutes
  13. I'm pretty sure these respawn times are correct or close to correct: Full World (2000): 12 minutes and 30 seconds 1900 People: 13 minutes 1800 People: 13 minutes and 30 seconds 1700 People: 14 minutes 1600 People: 14 minutes and 30 seconds 1500 People: 15 minutes 1400 People: 15 minutes and 30 seconds 1300 People: 16 minutes 1200 People: 16 minutes and 30 seconds 1100 People: 17 minutes 1000 People: 17 minutes and 30 seconds 900 People: 18 minutes 800 People: 18 minutes and 30 seconds 700 People: 19 minutes 600 People: 19 minutes and 30 seconds 500 People: 20 minutes 400 People: 20 minutes and 30 seconds 300 People: 21 minutes 200 People: 21 minutes and 30 seconds 100 People: 22 minutes These are from Lady Shahdie's guide at viewtopic.php?f=180&t=761848. Lady Shahdie's guide is also a good example of how to write a good guide in general and it happens to be on the same subject. You could check it out and maybe incorporate some things like hide tags into your future guides. Also, you should just mine rune ess until 41 in f2p and only then go for iron. There is never a good reason to mine coal imo as you can get better money and exp alternating between gold in crafting guild and powermining iron.

  15. For height you basically just need to sleep and eat properly. Sports like tennis and basketball that keep the bone remodeling going can have a very, very small effect. I've never heard of a study that shows streching plays a part. You strech your muscles while your height is determined by the lenght of your bones. Streching can sometimes help with growth induced pain in extreme cases though. My friend from my basketball team was 190cm (6'3'') at the age of thirteen and if anything touched his shins it would hurt him. He went to see a sporting specialist doctor who had him do streching and go to special massages. Still, those pains and the streching were both related to his muscles and not the bones that determine how tall you are. Just sleep nine hours every night and don't worry about it. Unless you want to be a professional athlete your life will be the same at 165 and 195cm. As for training your muscles you could go to a gym or visit some bodybuilding site for programmes and nutrition tips.
  16. [*:mu86u61l]I used the quote feature on dsavi's post to find out how to make a list like this. [*:mu86u61l]I was raised by a single mother who very rarely set boundaries. Like, when I was sixteen I dressed in a pink women's top, a miniskirt, a blonde wig and fake boobs to go to central Helsinki to sell hugs as a dare. All she said was "You look like you're going to a bachelor party". [*:mu86u61l]I get very nervous in social situations. I can't eat in the university cafeteria because I'm so uptight throughout the day that my stomach would just get upset. [*:mu86u61l]I've always been a scary good liar. When I was eight I lied to my mom about going to a place where kids could go to play with each other during the summer break. She gave me money to buy food there and I hid it and bought candy with it. I also forged my mother's signature to get a Donald Duck subscription when I was seven. I would actually have a ton of facts about me and how I used to be very deceitful/manipulative as a child, but it's supposed to be five facts. [*:mu86u61l]I don't own a TV. [*:mu86u61l]Bonus: I'm quite possibly the only person in the world who owns a mp3 player with music from Mozart, Bob Marley and M1dy. Me too. \ The good ole Phallus-mon. How very Freudian of you. :P
  17. Younger your are, less likely you can pay. Anyway, I view it as a good idea for another reason: more money for jagex = exponentially more updates for us. There's so many people devoted to CS compared to updates that an increase in money and decrease in subscriber base would give them a huge jump in revenue for updates\bug testing. Or maybe it would just weed out all us poorer players? I'm sure middle class folks would like that though. I was thinking along the same lines that compfreak is. It would mean more money for Jagex to better develop gameplay and the more serious players wouldn't mind paying a bit more, but if a kid has his parents footing the bill for membership, they might not keep that up if the rates double or triple. And for the "middle class folks" if an extra $5 or $10 would send you spiraling into debt, maybe you shouldn't be paying the $5 now. It still takes time to find, hire and get a bunch of talented videogame developers accustomed to their jobs. That makes the increase in the speed at which content is added into the game a gradual one. A big raise in the subscription fees would make customers want a big jump in that speed. I think gradually raising the price (10-20% annual increase in subscription fees) is a better idea if Jagex wishes to make more money per customer. Also, I don't think Jagex customer service is too big. There is still a lot of players for each customer service person and even things like ban appeals still seem to be read by bots (or people with way too little time to read them) every now and then. Customer service personnel is also cheap and easy to get when compared to good game developers. I think Jagex could use more money on marketing instead of hiring customer support people, though. The only way I ever heard about RS was via other people. Edit: On the topic: It's pretty difficult to tell what would happen if there were more payment options, so I wouldn't go fixing something that isn't broken. I'm guessing mothly fees is a good way of raking in money in the internet because ISPs and most succesful MMORPGs use it. I would personally appreciate a "one month only" option, but I don't think Jagex would get any richer if they added one.

    1) Do you think video games affect peoples opinion on war? They do have an effect, but when compared to anything like parents, schools or even TV and movies that effect is very small. Video games are also usually very individualistic so they aren't going to prepare anybody for war or the military. So they also have a small negative effect as I see things. 2) If your country was attacked, would it make you join the army? Well, I'd just get sent to active duty which isn't the same thing as joining. I wouldn't have a problem with serving my country in the time of need though. 3) Do you think there will be a World War 3 in your lifetime? As I might be alive even a hundred years from now I guess there is a possibility of a war that involves several countries from all over the world before I die. I can't see anything like that happening in the next 30 years or so as nuclear weapons, terrorism and the media will make sure that all wars are lost on some front. Something like the humankind running out of drinkable water is needed before leaders that aren't overly nationalistic/just plain bonkers are going to plunge their countries to all out 21st century warfare. 4) What do you think you could do to prevent war? On a personal level not much. I can vote for people and parties that I think have reasonable views on how destructive war is and how well my country would be able to defend against various types of threats. I can write letters to people in power when I think they're doing a bad job. I can remind those who glorify war about the history of my nation as well as other nations who have been on the losing side of big wars. I can't, however, do anything to stop stupid people from being stupid people. 5) What do you think is the major cause of wars? Prehistory to middle ages: Greed and religion Middle ages to nineteenth century: Greed 19th and 20th century: Nationalism, other ideologies, previous wars 21st century: Stupidity. What is the point of dropping bombs when you know you'll be watching crying widows and dismembered children on HDTV as a result on that evening and terrorist bombing aftermaths the next day? I guess greed is a big cause to terrorism. Religion is also a big factor for terrorism, but I see it more as just a tool instead of a real cause. Male, 20 I would be interested to know why so many females wouldn't be ready to join the military btw.

Cardio and proper nutrition. (Proper nutrition = A lot of food when you weight a lot even when trying to lose the weight, so in my opinion you might as well try to gain some muscle. A lot of good cardio exercises involve legs, so you could go easy on training your leg muscles if you don't know where your body's limits are.) Do back muscles as well if you do abs. I would also recommend doing a larger variety of exercises and doing all of the two or three sets of each move before going to the next one. That's a whole lot of reps you're doing. You could do less reps with more weights. Are the dumbells adjustable? If not, you can get used adjustable dumbells online for a pretty cheap price (like 20 /$). If you can't find anything online, you can always buy from shops for just a bit more. As for nutrition I can't really say anything since you didn't say anything about what you're eating. Weight loss cardio + lifting will always use up a lot of resources, so make sure you're eating enough of whatever you're eating. The info on how to eat properly can be found with 30 seconds of googling though. I recommend http://www.scoobysworkshop.com/index.htm to anybody who wants to know more about the basics of working out or about how to train at home. And no, I don't know why the guy never wears a shirt.
  20. You didn't know that the correct answer was "Less than eleven with a 99.8% probability and more than nine with an almost as high probability that isn't as easy to calculate because you can be born with nine or less fingers as well as lose fingers in accidents." and you don't use Wikipedia all the time. Why do I find the Hello Kitty forums so funny?

You have to keep in mind that we can't choose how long we serve. The officers make the decision for us in the end. Twelve months between the ages of 19 and 29 is a long time for people like professional athletes. Even the minimum of six months can be a problem in some sports like tennis because of the ranking systems. Four years would be absurd. Also, taking all men and some women away from their jobs and places of study for 8.3 months on average is very expensive to society. Don't get me wrong, I like the Finnish military. Going away from a mandatory service would mean a loss in the amount of talented or otherwise needed people in the military. As long as the tuition in universities is free, very few medical doctors are going to volunteer. A paid service would mean that people in upper and upper middle class would nearly disappear from the military. I don't want the people making decisions on the use of military force to be going "Well, it won't affect anyone I know." This discussion is making me very jealous by the way. The pay in Finnish military service ranges between 3.8 and 9 euros per day.
  22. Well, if this thread is going to be all about horrible web design: http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com. The Hello Kitty/Sanrio forums. I never knew there was so much to talk about in Hello Kitty. http://forumus.sanriotown.com Also, it's hilarious how the Hello Kitty Online discussions are so similar to discussions on any other MMORPG. Example: http://forumus.sanriotown.com/scripts/m ... ay_order=0
  23. Just a tip here for what to use mousekeys for: I did pineapple pizzas from pineapple rings and plain pizzas yesterday with mousekeys at the Lumby bank chest. I managed to do 3600 in two hours with decent concetration and no randoms that would have taken a long time. I've done it before without timing it so I had good technique. So that was 338400 gp per hour and 81k cooking exp per hour if everything had been bougth and sold at med. I think 1900 pizzas/hour is possible. Try it if you want to make a little money while cooking.
  24. Got scammed because he ignored the rules and used RWT. Seriously, you're acting like the kids a little angel and nothing bad should have happened to him. And I don't normally believe in karma, but this is an exception. Seriously, get a grip. And if you don't like what we post in this thread, theres a simple solution. Don't read it. -.- I believe this is karma as well and I don't understand how anybody can miss it. Okay, he's eleven and he can't identify scam sites. That can be a problem if you have an account worth hacking. But why do you think somebody targeted him and talked to him personally in the first place? This kid has a 1550 total level and a 100-ish combat level. Usually hackers wouldn't bother as nothing suggests he's rich, but as the video said, he had got some nice expensive equipment with the money he got from RWT. The whole story has karma written all over it. So, did Timmy say "easy comes, easy goes" and get on with it? No, he went on TV to play the victim. He had lied to Jagex about his age to play and to his relatives to receive thier money to use for illegal purposes. Now he goes on TV hiding these lies and I'm supposed to feel sympathy for him? There are tens if not hundreds of kids who have gotten hacked through phising sites and most of them haven't lied and RWTed their way to riches. Those are the people I would feel sympathy for, not this person who just refuses to see any blame on himself. I think he should be banned for RWTing. My words might seem harsh, but I would be ready to personally tell Timmy that what he did was wrong and that he needs to learn that bad deeds often lead to bad consequences in one way or another. There is nothing funny about this incident (although I felt I was watching the Onion news network with the classic portrayal of the internet as a place where sick adults (How did they know the hacker was an adult?) go to hurt children), but I'm not going to see anybody who breaks rules and lies this much with no regret as a victim either. I would be interested in hearing how you think we should be reacting to the behaviour of this young man, Qeltar. So far all you've done is criticize the way the rest of us have reacted. Although if you can't do that without telling me to I'll quite happily just say goodbye to you too.
