  1. i didn't get my own computer until i went to college and was physically unable to access the computer at my parent's house. why should someone expect to have thier own computer when they still live with thier parents? anyone can pay for any college they want. most colleges give substantial academic or athletic scholarships, there are many federal grants if you really can't afford it, or there are college loans that have no intrest until you graduate. as far as i know they are available to any student, regardless of credit. so if you are motivated enough, you will find a way to pay for college. please, god, tell me that english is not your first language. -.-
  2. exactly what i was gonna say. call me old-fasioned, insensitive, or just an [wagon], but to me, most of the problems with kids these days can be solved with something i like to call "repressive therapy" i've had this conversation with my own dad, and i've come to the conclusion that if he had lived his childhood in today's time, he probably would have been diagnosed with ADHD. but every time he acted up, his parents just slapped the [cabbage] out of him, and he was fine. he turned out fine, and is a productive member of society. i was a pretty good kid, but when i did talk back i got the same treatment. and what do you know, im going to college and getting a mechanical engineering degree. discipline works. now someone else i know, on the other hand, HAS been diagnosed with ADHD, and his parents are afraid to discipline him. he talks back to his parents, doesnt respect them, is going to be a senior in high school, and is doing drugs and getting arrested all the time. he called his mom a [bleep] right in front of his dad. if i had ever called my mom names, i wouldn't have been able to walk for probably a week. if his parents had only disciplined him, he wouldnt be in this mess. i know people are reading this and saying "this is all [cabbage]" but to anyone who doesnt respect thier parents, i have no respect for you. you are the lowest of the low, i don't care how bad your parents are, unless they were abusive or neglecting, they raised you hopefully to the best of thier abilities and they sustained you for the early years of your life. you literally owe your very lives to them. but on the other hand, parents who don't discipline thier kids are just asking to be disrespected, walked on, and disappointed in thier children for the rest of thier lives. it's a toss up. i blame society for becoming so lenient with punishment. hell, some parents are even being criticized for spanking thier kids as a form of discipline.

i was wrongly banned once, i was in lumby when i get the old "pm password scam" someone pms me saying he's a mod and i had won a prize and he only needed my pass to log into my account and add the prize. well, i wasn't stupid enough to fall for it, reported him for password scamming, and went on with my day. a few days later i get a message from jagex "you will be happy to learn that we have taken action against the player you reported" and then not a few hours later, my account was disabled and i have another message, "you have been permanently banned for password scamming." #-o they accidentally banned ME instead of the person i reported. i sent in a ban appeal and the next day i had my account back and an extensive apology message in my inbox :P
  4. i don't know how i ever got by without it, i use my house every day for something, whether it's making teletabs, using portals and altars, using the extra bank space in my costume room or just having friends come over and play games, it's one of the best skills yet.
  5. same here, i voted for the fremmenik area too. how about for the reward, they add a new spell to your spellbook, the .... Varrok Teleport! oh wait..... #-o
  6. i think you're looking for this picture... :XD:
  7. dk lair. instant luring. haha no j/k i don't do that. i'd say probably my house, because it has many useful teleports.
  8. Assuming there is the gravity if earth it is hard to say. There is a force pushing the plane one way, and one under pulling the plane another, the thing is, i still cant imagine what would happen at the wheels. If the wheels move with the plane, it might be possible to take off, but im still not sure. if the wheels dont move then it just gets pulled along with the treadmill. If the wheels spin in the direction the treadmill is going... im not sure what happens. the wheels on an airplane spin freely, much like the "hot-wheels car" example. and your hand on the hotwheels car would be the "thrust" on a plane. imagine putting a hotwheels car on an actual treadmill, or just go do it if you have both of those items. the point is that the wheels are not connected to or driven by the engine of the plane, therefore the wheels will always be moving at the same "speed" as the treadmill, independent of the plane. the only force that gets transferred to the plane from the treadmill would simply be friction, and that force would be very small due to the small contact patch of the wheels and the low rolling resistance of the bearings in the wheels.
  9. in that case, the first post needs to be edited, because it made it seem as if the plane stays stationary with respect to the treadmill.
  10. ok, i think people are arguing different points and that's why no one agrees with anyone else. forget about wheels, forget about thrust, forget about everything. there are 2 cases to consider here. 1. IF the plane is stationary with respect to the ground(treadmill, whatever). It WILL NOT take off. there will be no air moving over the wings, and therefore will not recieve the necessary lift to take off. 2. IF, however, the plane begins to move(i.e. the thrust becomes greater than the frictional force between the wheels and the treadmill) with respect to the ground(treadmill), then the plane MAY take off, assuming it reaches the required speed to induce take-off conditions(lift force becomes greater than the weight of the plane). the fact that you stated in your original post that the plane was moving at the same speed as the treadmill lead me to believe that you meant the first case here. in which case, the answer to your question would be no, the plane does not take off. i hope this clears the problems up for people who are still confused.
  11. i've said this over and over again, but i'll say it again. i own several guns. most of them get used for sport shooting, a few for hunting. i've never had to use my guns for defence, but if the time ever comes, i would do so without hesitation. say, hypothetically, that they outlaw guns, and baseball bats become the preferred weapon of crime. what's next, outlawing baseball? then tennis rackets? then spoons? what? where does it end? you outlaw guns and set a precedent for over-riding human liberties, and the next thing you know, common household objects, or even VIDEO GAMES :ohnoes: would be outlawed. god forbid. you can argue all you want that hunting is no longer necessary in today's society, but i disagree. i personally hunt for food, and because i'm in college, having a few deer in the freezer eases my food expenses for the year. other people hunt for tradition, or even sport, and the majority of hunters have never been in a firearm related accident.
  12. construction is useful after 55, unless you consider fast and easy prayer xp useless. and having your own dungeon is just fun, even if it does cost insane amounts of money. hunting, as said before, red chins are VERY useful for people who want fast range xp, cash not a factor. plus the sellers of these incredible animals make large sums of PURE proft, seeing as how box traps cost next to nothing. farming can make you money if you farm ranarrs and snaps to make pots with, or just sell the herbs, and can eliminate frustration of having other people cutting your tree if you're selfish like that. also, you can grow your own spirit tree for transportation. they can hardly be called "filler skills"
  13. to all the people saying 'i suggested this skill,' 'it's a recent suggestion' i've been hearing suggestions of an archeology skill for years now, so i'm sure jagex has had plenty of time to work on it if they decided they liked the idea. plus didn't they state once that they're ALWAYS working on at least one new skill at all times?
  14. i'll hop if someone asks me, or if there is already 2 people hunting there, but only up to about 5 times. i just dont have enought time to play to be hopping for hours to find an empty world, plus i dont mind sharing with one other person, because sometimes it's faster. but if there are 3 or more hunters in one spot, it's counterproductive. i'm nearly 96 hunter, if you're wondering
  15. the one time i actually did go to an "airsoft park" it was mostly college students and former military personnel, who all had thousands of dollars invested in thier guns. they play seriously, with military scenarios instead of the paintball "lets shoot 80000 rounds per second and see how many inflatable barriers i can hit before actually hitting my target" most of the airsoft games i play at my house though are at night in the woods. we play capture the flag(glowstick). it's much more fun and challenging(not to mention cooler than playing in the middle of the day) to play at night.
  16. apparently, prayer is still glitchy. want to know how i know this? i was maging at dks the other day with 2 hybrids, who had to leave before i ran out of pots/runes, so i decided to stay and solo rex for a bit. well a while later, i was standing on top of the mound waiting for rex to spawn and prime decides to wander over, so i put on mage protect prayer. red splash - 42. ok maybe it was just lag from clicking the prayer so i click on a sara brew and get ready to tele, but of course, i'm still lagging, prime hits another 38 through my mage prayer. i kiss the ground, and there's one less spear in the game. :wall:
  17. while this is a great cd, i'd say it's more of a "best of" compilation, or maybe rarities/demos, but most of them have been released before. i'm looking forward to dream theater's new cd, but as for what's already out, i'd have to say Anberlin's "Cities" album was pretty good.
  18. erm... C is the speed of light in a vacuum, a universal constant. rounded off, it's 3E^8, or 300,000,000. the only reason that equation is so controversial is it proportionizes energy and matter, and destroyed every law of physics basically. the whole problem is that sometimes, photons act like waves(energy), and sometimes they act like particles(matter). like i said before, just because you can come up with a formula to describe something doesnt make you a genius, i have to make up formulas every day in calculus and physics to describe certain situations. explain why photons act the way they do, and you're a genius.
  19. i would explain this but i'd just be repeating myself. i don't think there's anything new that can be brought to this topic. it's been beaten to death, and nobody's going to change anyone's opinion.
  20. too bad lvl 90 isn't even halfway to 99.
  21. wow, at least this isnt a flame war. who cares? if someone really wants a 99 in a skill, why do you care if they waste all that time? maybe they want to show off? maybe they want to use it for dks/kq? maybe they don't have the coordination to get a fire cape? all those seem like valid reasons to me. i'd also complain about your spelling, but that point's been beaten into the ground already.
  22. may i suggest quantum physics as a degree path in college? take a look at the infamous "double slit experiment" for a place to start. (just search for the expression in quotation marks on youtube or google videos for more information) explain that, and you MAY be a genius.
  23. and that God will protect the good-hearted people. there just happened to be only 1 person in this case. the bible isn't meant to be taken literally....
  24. i'd rather have a thousand armed citizens that never have to use thier weapons than a single armed criminal who has no respect for the law or property of others.
  25. dag kings.
