Open the case and give it a good clean up with a soft brush or compressed air. Dust could be blocking fans, so give em a good clean, but be very careful. Double check the fans can spin freely.

What kind of beeping is it? Could be the graphics card getting too hot, or generally stuff getting hot. When does it beep and when doesn't it?

That looks absolutely sick. What demo said, they should price it very competitively (not as much as 3DS though, they still need a profit). It looks like a drastic improvemet over the PSP 2000, which I've got and never use. Are they ditching the UMD disks in favour of chips or downloads? Hope so, they were a pain to carry around. Hope the screen is good, the PSP2000's was a little disappointing. 3G and touchscreen sounds ownage. Just add a phone in there, and you're sorted!

Just under half way through Ben Collins' autobiography. It's amazing the level of detail he's got in it, so far back into his life. It's a pretty good read, first book after a few months of not reading much. Can't wait for the last book of the Inheritance cycle.

Computer. Music

Laptops generally run quite hot, their cooling systems aren't great. Seeing that it's still under warranty (I assume), give HP a call and explain how the fan is probably messed up and they should fix you up if the problem persisits.

Any one of a number of things. Could be fans, HDD, speakers, etc. Computers do make sounds, I wouldn't worry. Have a close listen with perhaps the side of the case open to see whats making the noise.

Ok. In that case, how so I make it boot to a setup screen like big manufacturers do (when buying a new computer from Dell etc.) for the end user to set up their own preferances? Thanks again.

Ok thanks. Is OEM installation the same as normal installation? Or are all setup options (usernames, etc) left up to end user? Can I install drivers before going through setup? And do I need to format HDD before installation or will it do that for me? Thanks.

I plan on making a computer for a friend's friend. I plan on buying Windows 7 x64 OEM for tihs. A few questions 1) How does the OEM software work? Do I put the disk in and then it installs and you input the product code, but it is left to setup by the end user? 2) How do I install drivers before giving it to the end user. An explaination/link to explaination about OEM OS software would be amazing. My searches haven't been successful. Thank you in advance.

64.5GB is rather a lot. If you deleted them though, I wouldn't think there would be any increase in speed of your computer. The only thing those files are doing is filling up your HDD, not slowing down your system.

My 'Windows 7 System Rating/experience index' is thus: Yeah. HDD's. I have two: 160GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 - Boot drive 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 - Storage Both connected to my MSI P43T-C51 motherboard via SATA. My boot drive had something in the jumper socket that slowed it from 3.0GB/s to 1.5, I removed that but no change. OS is Win7 x64. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

This To be honest, you (nomally) buy the x86 and x64 editions together, and you may as well install x86 seeing as you a) Can't upgrade from x86 to x64, and x86 will eventually become obselete, so you may as well go to x64 now b) you can upgrade your RAM without the headache of reinstalling os again. OP, you may as well overclock, even just a little.

Because that i7-950 at 3.06GHz would outperform a 3.0GHz AMD hexcore, never mind the quad core. But surely 3GHz is 3GHz, regardless of brand (perhaps if you tested w/o cache?)

I'm still pretty clueless as to why a 3.0GHz AMD Phenom II Quad core is $99.99 while an i7-950 @ 3.06GHz Quad core is $294.99. I know the i7 has that 8MB of cache an people have been telling me that the Intels internal architecture is a lot better.

Case is really up to your discrestion. If it fits everything, it is simply down to what you like (so long as it has enough fans etc). For us to give you any specific parts, you need to give us a specific budget that you want to spend. Just a max price for everything is good. I would go with a DDR3 motherboard, seeing as you're updating anyway. DDR2 will be phased out and DDR3 will become the new standared. I would get an Intel because they are overclock-able and the 1156 socket will be around for a while yet. Ditch an optical drive or two if you can, they like to eat power. You'll want to buy Windows 7 x64 as well so you can utilise all of your RAM and add more in the future (32 bit only recognises up to 3.5GB RAM).
