Are Jagex's updates ever really THAT bad?

Featured Replies

Over the past month, and even longer than that, we have gotten many updates of course. Now, the majority of these updates did SEEM like bad updates at first. Lets take for instance the bracelet update, everyone thought it was bad. But, was it really? After really taking a look at the uses they really were very good. The Ditch update. Everyone was saying, "OMG DITCH THE DITCH" and all kinds of stuff like that. Now, people should be aware where the wilderness, and therefore shouldn't be getting lured. Well, it goes back to that idea of a false sense of trust. Like when people ask others to wear there item and then log. People get there trust, say they knew them, doing a drop party, next thing you know your an ice cube in lv 1 wildy with some guy running at you with a dds saying "WOOOT". Now, everyone says that it is bad for runecrafting, that it takes more time, but does it really? The fact is that the answer is no. I used to runecraft without the ditch and did so with it and did not see that great of a difference.

Now im coming to the question, does jagex ever really release that bad of updates? No matter what update comes out, they always seem bad and met with opposition. I know, I always seemed to rant about them to. But, I noticed if you actually try these updates out, they are very fun. Now they may not be the new abyssal whip, but they are fun and keep you entertained, which, is why most people play the game.

Also, how do you feel about Jagex's updates personally? Do you think there bad? Or do you just not like em because they just seem to sound bad and you have never actually tried the updates out?

I feel that all the updates they do just get better and better, ditch is OK people just moan a lot.

Keep up the good work I say \'

We have had a good 2 months of updates in my opinion.

I'm going to say most of the updates are good.

I just didn't like how they updated some things on the interface, such as the magic icons, and the skill page.

EW! May the old skill page RIP. That's one I'm against. :notalk:

Aye, I agree. Jagex HAS had quality updates, yet people just don't realize it. They moan and groan, but there they are using the update. These useful updates are better than Jagex sometimes gets credit for.

I'm not saying all their updates have been great, but most of them seem pretty grood to me.

cliffside1ra5.png

they are usually good, but they are just trying to do what they think is best for the community as a whole, there is no longer this idea of helping the individual, as much as we want it, it just couldn't be possible with this large of a game.

so all in all, i think jagex is going a good job with what they are given

legends2.jpg

agree, it seems that some of the updates do takes time to sink in,the average scapers tends to flame before they think.

Personaly i think that Jagex puts a lot of thought in there updates and generally most of them well planned and quite good.

People wants new barrows every week,Jagex's perspective is a little bit wider...

I think it's human nature to criticise and moan about changes. Especially before people investigate for themselves how the change affects things. Personally I can't think of any bad updates.

Don't follow me. You might not make it.

LOL another newspaper j/p

People complain because they have nothing better to do. They waste like a day in Rants but never get anything done. Jagex is trying to work with us not against us like how some people believe. Most updates have been good.

Change title please, little misleading

Anyways, on topic.

I think most people draw conclusions to fast.

When it looks like a bad update in the first place, they start protesting and trying to make it look that bad, that other people actually believe them.

While in fact, most of them have never done/had the updated thing before and just read the update :?

Bracelets weren't bad I think, might be very usefull.

But in a big community like Runescape, there are always people complaining about stuff, nothing to do about it.

I haven't seen one truly "bad" update in ages. I mean some seem pointless but never bad. I mean cmon, what other game updates once a week and keeps poring out great new content. Some updates are better than others, but the game is getting better, not worse.

Majority of them are good. Majority of the people are noobs and whiners.

Quit RuneScape :)

Pure ess.

Exactly, that's the only REALLY bad update from Jagex I can think of :-k ...

I think it's 'cause if there's one good update, everyone wants the next update to be just as good, if not better. They gotta understand that there will major updates, just as well as minor ones.

Most of them are good, but some people never get satisfied :).

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

erkid"]Majority of them are good. Majority of the people are noobs and whiners.

Says it all. High levels moan 'cos "they are neglected" yet they pown the game, get armies of people complementing them, can easily make a ton of money fast. Low levels complain because they get owned, because they can't make money easily, etc etc.

The majority of updates are good, well thought out and aimed toward the greater good of the game.

It annoys me, because the ranters don't realise how lucky they are: they don't like it? try to find a game with ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã3/month membership, almost weekly updates and the ability to do just about whatever you want. (cept use the toilet #-o )

Infact, the worst update I can remember is the draynor sewer. Just why...? :P

I mostly like anny updates .. tough falador is to white now =P and i dont like the ditch cuz the scary dangerous part of the wilderniss i kind of gone .. maybe because i grew a lot to but i dont see much improvement in it .. there always was a warning ...

They try to improve the game how they see fit, that doesn't always fit with the general public. Even if they took every suggestion from players and did exactly what we asked for people would still pick it apart and tell them a better way it should have been done.

Also, how do you feel about Jagex's updates personally? Do you think there bad?

Yes. I could think of so many better things they would be doing instead of that. It's all trash, people who believe that to be good got their rose sticked right into it, so much they can't realise the difference between a good and a bad update. How would it be possible anyway? A Runescaper only has two kinds of updates; good bad updates, and bad bad updates, they come to think that good bad updates are good updates

2480+ total

I'd say most updates are good to OK, the exception that sticks in the mind is the whole Olaf's Bridge fiasco, which was extremely frustrating. I don't have anything against challenging quests but that was just annoying! :wall: still, they did fix it fairly quickly...

You know what I hate? I hate obsessed little 12 year olds who play this game and skip through cutscenes and skip storylines just for a reward. Information from quests are funny and cool. I think the updates are good because Quests aren't just for getting rewards, they're cool, FUN addons to the game. That's why I hate pixel obsessed little kids (Not necessarily 12 year olds, but you all probably know what I mean, not being stereotypical to 12 year olds)

OH? Really? So what would you like from an update? Free dragon platebody and Dragon abyssal whip? I wish ungrateful people would be, you know, grateful, that the quests actually give out something. OH yeah, it's a good update if the quest storyline stinks and is 5 minutes long if you get a dragon platebody in the end, but if it's long, fun, challenging and interesting with only a ring with some better stats at the end, it sucks.

Be thankful that we're getting new content instead of bug fixes. Imagine how it would feel if every other update was a bug fix instead of new content? People would be blowing off steam more often than they are now.

But it is true you can't denie that SOMETIMES (emphasis on sometimes) Jagex can be a little stupid, like for EXAMPLE (Emphasis on example) "It seems to us that a massive glitch where when you climbed up a lader it wouldn't play the emote, so we've delayed the update until next month to fix this deadly glitch."

I find all the updates by JAGeX are amazing, a lot of work goes into every one of them.

People should cut them some slack, the updates get better and better.

The one on Varrock was AMAZING.

Residua.png

Ofcourse the updates are good. Just people always need o complain about something. In fact, if they made the perfect update, people would complain about how there's nothing to complain about!
