The key step to getting your suggestion included as part of the forum, is to get mod backing on your topic, that helps heaps. But generally if no mod backs it then you'd most likely have a suggestion not worth implementing.

As a moderator, do you get a bigger say in suggestions? Whilst I personally would disagree with giving moderators a bigger say in suggestions as I believe in equality for all, I would just like to know. It's something I like to incorporate on all my ThinkTanks forums.

Everyone on our forums gets a fair say on suggestions. Before I was a mod, I created many suggestions which were backed by mods/admins and they were later used. I know I, along with many other mods browse this forum frequently. Even if you are not a mod/admin, your suggestion can definetely be implemented. Just make your suggestion as detailed and indepth as possible in order to recieve the best results possible.

You really need admin backing more than mod backing ;)

And if you can get some of the members on side who know more about phpBB than most of the staff (and quite a number of admins actually) then that's a good sign :P

My application was a bit late due to the fact I had been on scout camp untill the previous day. :-s

:ohnoes: Will it still be accepted? :ohnoes:

I think you might have missed it. Figure out your time zone and the difference:

Applications will be accepted until September 3rd at 5pm (17:00) GMT.

Sorry but unfortunately if you missed the deadline your application will not be considered. We made sure the period lasted 2 weekends to ensure that as many people as possible could enter without leaving the applications open for too long a period.

Could you give us a rough time estimate as to when the people accepted will be notified? And if you can how many people have applied? Thanks :D

It's kind of hard to say :( It's going to take a while to go through them all as we have a couple hundred entries. I haven't got an actual number but I know it's in the hundreds somewhere :P

Heh... as I read this now the first time, I assume I lost my chance to return to the tipit moderation forever :P Too bad, well, I suppose it wouldve been fun to try to be motivated enough again. Even for a while.

It must be WoW: it's the only possible reason why a staff-member would want to leave TIF.

Hah... I had lack of motivation. Enough a reason to leave back then. Don't please be so stuck up and think every one of us has even tried WOW.

We appreciate your interest in the process and for you all taking the time to send in your application. Close to 300 applications have been submitted and are in the midst of the review process.

During at least the next two weeks, the only notices going out to applicants will be decline notices. So, "no news is good news" if you don't hear from us right away.

We'll do our best to keep you posted as we continue this process.

Thanks!

PS. Please do NOT send messages to inquire about your application. Nagging or asking staff members to put in a good word for you will be grounds for immediate rejection of your application.

Hey thanks guys for the message back :) I am glad that you took the time to write a reason, very nice of you. Also, I think it is a good thing I didn't make it now, because now I am more motivated to put alot more quality>quanity in my posts. :)

Is it too late to send my application in? Kill Life just mentioned this to me, because I didn't know anything about this.

Yeah it is, they're already closed since 3 September.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

Sorry, but it is in fact too late :( It was a Global Announcement for a week, and the thread was even advertised on the Tip.it hompage in the Forum News section.

I'm glad to see this has gotten some people some more awareness of how they post.

Yea, it's a win-win situation for everyone. If you are accepted your a Tip.It Mod Trainee, and able to help users...if not, and your declined, your told your reason for being declined, and if you work at it, and you fix it, your chances of being a mod may increase, and you help shape the community better. So no one should really complain about being declined. :-#

Yeah, I was declined for some stupid stuff I said/did when I first joined, and this only reinforced that I'm never going to again.

Good luck to all who make it, you really deserve it.

Not to be pesimistic, but there are always the odd forum users who take offense to being declined, and revert to being a negative influence to others.

I was declined for something stupid i did a while ago, which i now greatly regret. All i know is to keep my head down and continue to try keeping this forum as positive as it has been.

And those particular users should always be declined. If they complain, or whine, or do what ever just because they got declined, probably means they aren't ready to be what a Mod stands for, and who a Mod reflects, even the responsibilities of a Mod.

I don't think you can influence positivity with your head down...so lift it up. ::'

Even if you, or I are declined it shouldn't change your posting attitude. You've probably gained some good lesson from being declined, that you could use in real life, and the internet Actually, I think I look forward to being declined, just to know what I do wrongly.

I started posting on this forum, not even knowing what a Mod. I continued posting here as i felt i was having a positive influence on people. Im not going to stop helping people just because my avatar doesn't look different.

Its a shame some people may not see it that way.
