You of all people should know that staff often just up and leave.

It must be WoW: it's the only possible reason why a staff-member would want to leave TIF.

QFT!

Look at The_Sith...hahaha. He probably posts on the WoW thread (he has it in his sig!) more than the actual RS boards. I suspect other mods (who left or are about to) have quit for the same reason.

Trix.--quit WoW as of 12/07

Thank you 4be2jue for the wonderful sig and avatar!

Why would you make fun of him/her for enjoying a game and posting in a topic about it?

You were a former mod?shocked.gif

Goodluck everyone. :) Well I wouldn't say it's luck that gets you in...

On Scapeboard, yes. And true - luck isn't going to help you in this situation :-s

Oh, a question to mods and admins. What is with the need for a "Secure computer". Do mods and admins of this site get hackers trying to get in through their computers or something?
People of authority tend to get more attention of the mallicious.

I personally never ran into such people in over a year of it...

No but also yes, it's to be safe anyway, you need a secure computer, cause if you don't, you'll probably end up getting hacked within the month, which means damage can be done to Tip It if you get promoted. It's also quite normal that Staff Members are more targetted to get hacked then the average Runescape player.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

Ahhh ok.

I'm fairly safe. I do use antivirus/firewall/spyware searchers, but even then, I rarely get anything. I dont download anything or go to any sites that would give me that stuff. I pretty much keep to my home sites.

Only thing my computer gets is the odd Tracking Cookie or twenty. They don't pose much of a threat, and I always remove them.

I hope this doesn't affect my application. Of course, since I am essentialy behind two firewalls, I am hacker-proof. \'

Retired from RuneScape as of November 10th 2007.

It's not just that we're targeted more, but also that if you get keylogged randomly, what will they do with the information. Perhaps a better way of thinking about it is if we had to choose between secure comps and unsecure, why would we want to take the chance on someone breaking into an account and deleting half the website for example.

He's not making fun of him for it.

I was almost finished with the questions for the app personally and then decided not to do it. I'm not on the forums as much because of school now and am more involved with Lineage II than taking time to moderate.

I send mines in. I hope I get picked. I do find it to be rather fun to moderate stuff and make the forums a great place for everyone to enjoy. The only problem is, well...I'm sorta like a new forumer, but I do understand the rules quite well and I am more than happy to work around the tip.it community. I do feel like I could handle moderating the forums. :)

Thats what I said. More firewalls don't make things better, they just make it harder to get in. If some one wants in... they will get in.

Being part of the staff isn't only full of glory and glitter. It's not like you'd be in extacy every time you logged in. Leaving is part of the normal situation: nothing lasts forever and people have different reasons for leaving. Like I said, when I left after being a mod for around 3 years, I current lifesituation didn't give me enough spare time to work here and my motivation wasn't good enough to continue. However here I'd like to point out that even tho I've seen many staff members to leave their post, I haven't heard of a single situation where the reason for leaving was personal problems with other staff members.

was asked to be a mod before but my old computer let me down :P I'll wait until i'm asked to be a mod again though as it seems kinda cheesy to apply to be one after all these years of saying people who ask to be mods will be ignored ::'
