Actually, Golden Elites tend to attack even if you dont see them coming, and you rarely do you see stealthed elites before they attack.

On a more serious note, of coarse people in runescape discriminate. Everyone discriminates. While I dont see many people being racist I do see plenty of people who insult noobs. That said, I see lots of noobs who need a wake up call to the fact that full rune does not make you ZOMG high lvl player who knows all. Granted full 3rd age doesnt either, but you get the point.

Yes I get realy mad when a lvl 40 miner gets gold when i don't and I'm a lvl 84 miner! Realy ticks me off :)

this isn't racism, and the higher lvls sort of deserve getting the ore first. they have been working hard to get their lvl-compared to a person that just started. If the highel lvl is being a jerk, though-thats a different story.

You don't know the skin color or ethnicity of players, therefore, you can't be racist, really, in Runescape. :?

If you think this is bad, go play WoW. There is some serious hate between the horde (damn ganking bastereds) and the Alliance (the obvious sexy good guys). At least in RS you can kiss and make up instead of "kek"

Runescapiens are definitely not racist, but we are more of the type who actually discriminate other people BASED ON THEIR COMBAT LEVEL OR OTHER STATS.

 

Say if I see a level 5 cutting a yew tree, and he is wearing armour, my first thought would be: "Hmm...did he use a macro to get this level?" But if that guy turns out to be quite nice (e.g. he holds a nice conversation), I would be more that glad to accept him into my circle of friends.

I always try to be nice to low-level players. However, a lot of us find it hard maybe because of the fear that they'd bug us with annoying stuff. I wouldn't say I'm "racist", but its hard doing stuff with a low level player because you are more advanced than they are. I gotta be honest, I find it hard going in a low-level area due to some of the low-level players themselves (the annoying ones that try to bug you).

I disagree. I don't base my opinions of players on their level, I base them on their knowledge of the game and maturity level. Those are the factors that make players newby or nooby, not level.

I find this thread to be titled horribly. Sorry, but it is. People of a lower combat level than you specifically are in no way whatsoever a race or creed. We may tend to dislike situations where people may be above or equal to us in some way when their combat level is lower than ours. But that's not even really a good reason to dislike them. I believe you can only dislike someone when they are doing better than you and they have a lower skill level than you in the skill applying to that situation. For example, a level 55 miner happens to get more coal instead of a level 60 miner. I could care less what his combat level is. The fact that he's getting more coal than me is ticking me off a little. And I really don't believe that you should hate that person, it's not their fault. You could hate the frustrating part of the game that gave them the ore when they have a lower level than you, but it's really nothing to blow your top off for. To naturally dislike him or her is a tendency that all humans have. How you react and treat the person could define your general attitude towards people who may be getting that ore first, or whatever it is your doing when they have a lower level than you.

 

 

 

But still, if you naturally tend to dislike that sort of people, I wouldn't call it racism. Even if you passionately hate those people with all your might, I would only classify it as an anger control problem. The only way you can be racist in Runescape is to be racist against a race that exists in real life.

I haven't seen any RS ads in awhile, but I'm pretty sure that at least a few of their advertisements include people that aren't Caucasian.

It all depends on your experiences with that particular level range.

It's more like upper/ lower classmanship- basing opinion in who is better in terms of levels and wealth. But hey some people show off so much then let them be, if they go verbal then let them be with no friends. but if u treat everyone like normal people, talk whenever seems right, you'll be rewarded with a simple appraisal which never hurts.

I think it's true that we sometimes hate lower levels just because they're lower levels. I think overall, Scapers have a slight prejudice against lower levels. I mean, we're more likely to trust a high-level person than a low-level one.

i guess i've always looked at lower lvled people as people younger than me although chances are that they're a lot older than me

Hmm, well, it's ofcourse pretty annoying when you see a lvl (I woodcut more) 61 wc get a full inventory before you while your 65 for example, but there's no need to be a 'racist' about it, as you say it.

 

 

 

This is a game, and whenever you hate a lower level for asking a stupid question or doing something faster then you, just remember, you were once their level and once didn't know all the stuff you know, and just answer the question or get over it.

To be quite honest I don't see how thinking differently of someone in RS compares at all to racism. The biggest problem with racism the reason why most people view it as bad, is the fact that we have no control over what race we're born as.

 

 

 

Levels in RS are not pre-determined. Your level is directly proportionate to how much time you spend playing the game. A more accurate coparisson to real life would be having someone where you work who does nothing but slack off, and he gets promoted while you do not. In both instances you put more time and effort into what you do, only to have someone else come along, having invested less into what they're doing, and advance over you.

 

 

 

Levels = actions, and it'll be a cold day in hell before I think of it as a bad idea to think differently of someone based on their actions.
