99 fishing to become common?

Featured Replies

really stupid assumption.

firstly you could buy feathers much faster from people than you can from shops now(50k gap per buy), and secondly fly fishing in shilo is far from being the best fishing method in runescape(theres a place where you need little to nothing bait and gain a lot more experiance).

Yes, barbarian fishing sure is much better :-$

How much xp per hour do you get with fly fishing? Lobsters in f2p give about 30k per hour.

I've seen players with a untrimmed fishing cape, it is one of easiest skills IMO along with fletching, cooking, thieving, woodcutting and firemaking.

Catching monkfish is slightly slower than fly fishing but definitely much more profitable.

I'm also getting 99 fishing by fishing monks, it will be my 3rd 99 skill. Only 440k exp to go!

No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.

It wont, more people will attempt, and more people wont get the cape.

this wont make 99 fishing easier, u still have to put in a LOT of work

Your first assumption is a fallacy, as you have to spend time tracking down someone with enough feathers for you to buy. You would spend much less time just going to a shop now.

And the second method is amazing, but if you want sheer "sit back and relax" fishing, Shilo is the best method. The barbarian fishing is very attention oriented if you want the fastest xp in the game.

Fallacy? Trying to make yourself sound intelligient? Good job. It's very easy to find someone selling feathers, you have no idea, and buying from people was cheaper and way faster than clicking a thousand times. You need *alot* of feathers to get 99, who the hell would pay more for them and spend all that time buying from shops?

The hard part about fishing is the time, not the the cost of the feathers (wich aren't hard to come by).

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

I think it will like Hunter+Firemaking will because it takes 1 month or so to get so many people do them.

I'd rate to see the fishing cape have 20000 owners :|

Take this from a person who spent over 3 months in shilo village fly fishing... no. The feathers for it only cost me about a million gp (76-99).

The true skiller notices that barb fishing is flawed in the sense that you make no overall net profit or loss, therefore goes for the 2nd best alternative, which is fly-fishing.

Fly fishing requires somewhere around 200-250k feathers which could previously have been bought at almost the same speed as now. However, the update does make it a little easier. Overall, you will only see a slight increase in the number of 99 fishers due to the patience involved in getting it that high.

How many people would be patient enough to do 2-4 months of just Fishing!

You are forgetting about the "Buy-x" option. You just need 8 clicks to get 250k feathers.

I think it will become more common. Largely due to the fact that its an afk skill. I had the patience for 99 fishing (via monks) because I would get a lot of gp but also because I could browse forums and such while my character was fishing.

It's all good getting a 99, but there's no point if you don't get any benefits. For me I did 99 fishing because the main benefit was the cash :D

I have been going for 99 fishing for a loooong time, almost sinse last Christmas. I first off started at Shilo then moved onwards to Piscatoris. I have 140k feathers that I am likely not going to used in the near future.

Anyway I don't think this update will make the skill a common 99. People generally think its boring, slow and un-usefull (not me as it's my favourtie). People that have determination for it or a liking towards it will likely utilise the update to their advantage, however I don't think it will happen to the majority of the Runescape population.

Even on my death bed, I'll bare-hand that bloody shark.

I wouldn't use the shilo way should I want 99 fishing

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

you are simply stating that it got easier to 'buy' 99 fishing. most people can buy 99 cooking, but theres so many people who dont have it. most people could buy 99 fletching or fm, but that doesnt mean its becoming common (yes it is more common, but still many people dont have it even though they can afford it.) it wont become a more common cape because after buying the stuff you still need to follow through with using it all. so i say no, fishing cape isnt becoming more common.

Either way you're going to have to work to get this 99; it's not something that you can really buy, like Smithing or Firemaking or even Ranged [Chinchompas].

Only the people who really want to get 99 fishing will get it. Infinite feathers only made it easier for them.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

I've bought feathers for 4ea in 2 minutes to get 99 fishing. Didnt of course, Most likely wont change anything.

Epee-Signature-2.png

The hard part of 99 fishing was never gathering the feathers.

While this have gotten many people to realize that now they don't have an excuse to put it off any longer (they were telling themselves it would take too long to get feathers), not all of these people will actually get it, and this is a one time occurance (people losing that excuse).

I don't see the point in getting a 99 that much slower just so you can afk it.

Barbarian fishing > Shilo fishing

I really find it unlikely that people are really going to be wanting to get 99 fishing, you make little to no profit from it. And its slow and boring. I am fishing munk fish right now and its boring. I feel bad for the people that are F2P trying to get 99 fishing...

seriously, your opinions should not have been expressed.

You can't buy 99 fishing! You can buy feathers for 99 fishing but that is not the same as actually getting 99 fishing.

P.S. I am 89 fishing and did it mostly on profitable ways only - lobs, tunas, swordies and sharks. I am pretty sure most people fish for profit and not for exp.

1/10 People that buy there 200k or so feathers from the store will get 99 fishing?

I'm getting 99 Fishing, but fly fishing is boring because you bank often. Sharks all the way <3:
