New update agaisnt people with less rl money

Featured Replies

ONE McDonald's paycheck or so for about a 36 hour week will pay for the hardware to have a computer triple the power needed for the new graphics options. If they can't afford a computer good enough for RS, I'm not sure how they can afford to eat, and if they can afford it but don't want to buy new hardware, it's their own fault. (plus the new graphics WON'T let you see farther, jeez)

Your entire post is almost 100% non sequitur. If you had bothered to read the Dev Diaries, you'd note that the draw distance (or distance at which you can see things) has not changed at all.

Besides that, are you seriously telling me that someone can't afford an AGP card (at the very basic end) for $60? Forget working at McDonalds, working for one day at most any job will get you that money.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

And from what your saying - Isnt getting members the same thing as RWT?

Because you have money in real life, that means you can get an unfair advantage with all the money makers that FTP doesnt have!

I dont support your idea, simply talking the same way as you.

99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th

If your computer can't handle the requirements for the new graphics, it's probably old as dirt and could barely handle RS as it is in the first place.

Im not one to be a mean person but...

Dude you are stupid. Your whole post is off. Is this an attempt to make a succesful thread?

Now the nicer, more gentle side:

This thread is spam.

Now a constructive backup:

Im gonna take it you dont have the new graphics requirement, so you say "You people have an advantage!". NO. The people with the requirements just get enhanced graphics. NO advantages. This is more of a rant because you cant use the new detail mode.

TBH your topic makes no sense, If you cant afford a comp that meets those low specs why would you want to waste it on rwt, just pick up a cheap second hand pc with the specs for like £<100? :?

Thanks Gradeskip93 for my awesome sig!

You don't see more of the map, everything's just bigger.

no... even though im a pker as a company, jagex needs to stop rwt. this will make the game full of cheaters which there were few now. anyways it will be full of cheaters then ppl will just not play anymore because of this

I'd rather have RWT and pking than no pking, but whatever. It's still a great game, either way.

This will mean more people will buy higher specced computers, those use more electricity! Meaning more work for the Powerplants, meaning more CO2!

Its only a matter of time until Runescape will be the next mayor Cause of the global warming.

^this makes about as much sence as your topic does.

Its very easy, work to get some moneys and buy something better then the rock from a decade ago. Or play on low detail and whine about how your computer isnt good.

Seriously, computers who fail to run Runescape is about as low as you get. Thats ROCK bottom. If you want to keep up with modern day computers you will have to buy new parts of it every few years or so.

Interrested in joining the cabbagy madness? Click here to go to our forums, and say hi ^^

lol one of the biggest pvp updates of the year, and tip it is discussing granite

No because

1) it's unfair on the people that play fairly

2) it's how it should have been in the first place - high prices on logs/bones etc. which also encourages people to train skills and profit from them. Take for example Woodcutting - insane yew log prices - excellent \' makes people want to woodcut, and you get tons of money for your efforts. Yew logs used to be 600gp which is like the price of a yew longbow itself o_O so it's really good. Even mage logs, they're 1.2K each!!

3) Look how many cheaters Jagex got rid of, it's awesome.

I think that about sums up my view on the matter :D

Heres what i thought of rwt. An easy alternative would be have jagex sell gold off the main page. if you buy gold it will mark your character as not legit. example, player 1 never bought gold so his name is white, player 2 bought gold from jagex so his name is now in red, and is marked as a non legit player. if you are marked as a non legit player you do not show up on highscores. the only issue that i cant seem to find a solution for would be keeping players buying gold on a level 3, and using junk to trade from account to account.

Dragon Drops: 5 medium helmet, 3 left shield half

Obby: Maul 1, Cape 1, Shield 1

Yup, RWT is a problem in almost all games that use trading. But it is clearly NOT good if you just allow it. My brothers played Lineage II for a while but RWT got out of hand because nothing was done about it and guess what? My brothers and a ton of people left. And Adena (Lineage II coins) fell in price as the market was getting saturated and people left because it became pointless to earn anything.

"To do all that one is able to do, is to be a man; to do all that one would like to do, is to be a god." - Napoleon I

Because RWT and Jagex would battle in an ever lasting duo in which the price of gold will keep plummeting until the whole economy is in a ditch.

Regardless of the irrationality of comparing computer specs to real world trading, the question itself is legitimate.

The link below is to an article examining the first year of Station Exchange, a set of separate servers for Everquest II that allow real world trading (of which Sony takes a cut of every transaction).

So, people would RWT in one world and then just hop to a "regular" world. Still unfair, that btw is showing Sony simply wants cash.

Points you've missed:

-Everquest 2 doesn't have loot-based PVP where you can transfer items that way

-Goldfarmers rule Everquest 2. The difference is that the game was designed with rwt'ing in mind.

-Everquest 2 has a tiny number of players, far less than Runescape (paying members) and around that of Star Wars Galaxies (Yuck).

I guess the important thing to remember is that Runescape was not built with real world trading in mind, and as such the economy cannot handle real world trading being present. Jagex has already said that future games may incorporate a real world trading aspect, and in that case: I think I've found a new job.

Exactly, you do have to draw the line otherwise you'll end up with people complaining that players with two arms shouldn't have an advantage over those with missing arms/hands/fingers/etc.

People with dialup have an advantage over those with no internet at all. Let's nerf them.

omali that last sentence made me lol but ot, if your computer isnt great you can probably still play the fullscreen but it will lag(then you complain about lag) and if you really care about it go to the library or somewhere wit better computers when you play bh

Doing random stuff on runescape. Always happy to have a random conversation, just pm me.

Thanks Unoalexi for my awesome avatar!

I really don't think the new detail mode will give any advantage, other than it just looks cooler. If you noticed in some of the pictures of it, everything is bigger, so how much of the map you can see will most likely be the same. I don't see any advantages that you would have while playing in high detail mode. It just looks nicer.

*sorry if someone already said this, I didn't really feel like reading 3 posts of replies -.- *

it wont really matter for them as long as they can play the game

u will just them in super high detail, thats all

they dont need a new pc to play rs (plus the system requirements for the new update r really low so i dont understand why people r complaining about it, unless they own a pc from 10 years ago)

totallvl900ge9.jpg

Woot! Got total lvl 900 in f2p!

I'm guessing the OP knows nothing of economics? I haven't even taken an econ class yet and i can tell you rwt would cause one major problem: inflation.

When everybody has 500 million in gold, we aren't going to be selling full rune for 200k, its gonna be 200 million, and what happens to that f2p person that just started who couldn't make 200 million if they had a year? They would leave, and then one by one lower levels would cut out, and people would stop joining, and runescape would experience negative population growth until nothing is reamining.

And at your remark of people having advantages irl? One of my friends is a classified genius and plays runescape. i would say he would have quite an advantage over the average 11 year old that decides to play. Basically in runescape this is what your calling for: http://instruct.westvalley.edu/lafave/hb.html

Sorry to tell you, wether its virtual or real life, somebody always has an advantage, there is always sombody faster, smarter, stronger, thats life, get used to it.
