Ok just think about it logically: We've seen from the dev diaries the kind of dev process that happens with new skills. The massive amount of time before any public info is released, or even in game leaks occur. We can also see from history the gap between skills, typically 1 year. That would mean if they are working on this skill.. it will still be in early dev, specially seeing how after summon, most of the dev team has been involved in the graphics update. So given all of this, why would they create the website code for adding it to the highscores before the skill is even close to being finished? Surely this is a pretty low priority part of the whole skill-launch process.

how can you say that, i have my doubts about a skill like "sailing" aswell, but you dont know how jagex will work it out, it might be a very complex, challenging and rewarding skill, it might be not. dont judge something before youve spend enough time with it to have a calculated opinion.

and seeing how long summoning development was (even longer than construction (!!!)) this is very likely to have happened now. now you dont KNOW whether there wasnt a team already working on another skill.

 

 

 

Also jagex has confirmed that they ALWAYS work on a new skill, so the graphics update holds no part in that.

Having another read through the thread people are saying that this is the new skill cape and that u can see the "sailing icon" on the back? can you? i personaly can see something but weather or not its just the cape with a bit of movment in it or weather its the icon i really cant tell. You can also see he is using a boat in the picture. Oh yea guys and dont forget when the new varrock Musium came out we had to find the ruby neclace which tele'd us to the making of the big boat!

Well, I'm not going to jump to conclusions as to whether Sailing is real or not, however there have been times when multiple skills have been released within a relatively short amount of time. Take Construction and Hunter, for example; I believe that gap there is roughly 6 months. It's been almost 6 months since Summoning's initial release, so I wouldn't say it's impossible for a new skill to be released soon.

 

 

 

Hunter also made an appearance onto the updated bug reporting system by accident, I believe that was a few months before the actual Hunter update was released. Perhaps it's possible that with the site being re designed, this accidently slipped onto the high scores at some point.

 

 

 

Again, I'd like to stress that I'm not drawing any conclusions on whether Sailing is a reality or not, I'm just stating a few facts. I like the idea of Sailing and would welcome it as a skill, but I am a little scepticle about the evidence posted in this thread.

The Skill of Ship Building/Sailing has been suggested many times by players and jagex have commented on it many times. They were asking people in suggestions if ship building would be a part of construction or a seperate skill.

 

I guess they chose it to be a seperate skill :o

This is a combination of the worst and saddest efforts at a fake that I have ever seen.

 

The picture is just a freaking drawing! The guy just has a blue cape on! There is a dragon flying around breathing fire at a random island too but that doesn't mean that it's coming out soon.

 

 

 

Also, that Sailing highscores picture... lol. Worst fake drawing I've ever seen, and definitely not even near the quality of any of the others.

I'm just going to completely disregard that picture of a hiscores page, but that cape really does seem to have a logo of a little boat on it. Those are some weird as hell wrinkles if not. It doesn't have the giant outangled shoulder things that skillcapes have, though.

 

 

 

Also, I personally think that sailing sounds like a horribly idiotic idea for a skill, but I guess we'll see. Unless you die, then you won't I guess.

I've checked the high scores every day since HD came out because I've been tracking how close I am to catching up to a friend and that 'sailing' has never been there!

 

Personally I've never seen it myself as you've said so I'd have to say it's fake too.

 

 

 

People usually always save the images or show direct links to the skill icons or hiscore finds like I did with Summoning and Archaeology so it seems to me like it's a fake, but who knows, I'll be asking a few questions :lol:

That doesn't really mean anything, they can change the IDs around when they want to create the hiscore page.
