The Firemaking update was wonderful; the experience that the ring and gloves give, you guys should be LUCKY it became a little faster! I used to think that RS players were stupid, but now it's just Tifers. Firstly, insults don't help. Secondly, the experience boosts are fine, but they lack substance or originality. You could just put that on any skill. Experience is pointless if it doesn't work towards something that will benefit your character beyond the numbers. I'm talking about equipment, moneymaking, benefits to other skills, useful stuff. Only useful stuff you get is 1. Bullseye lanterns, 2. Mining helmets. 3. The inferno adze. 4. The cape. 4 useful items, and they're all non-tradable and don't interact with other players. I am certain that is the lowest for any skill. ~ W ~
September 11, 200817 yr Author Well said will. I say it more aggressive, but you put it up nice and calm.
September 11, 200817 yr im glad that they did finaly update the skill, but its not enough. sure, we can now lvl it faster, but there are still next to no rewards for doing so! if there were no cape, why would you lvl firemaking up beyond quest reqs? you wouldnt. its not worth the time or effort. Please, give us something to do with this lame skill. [hide=Siggy credits]The Awesome, Epic, Amazing, S3xah A-10 Sig By Unolexi! September 11, 200817 yr I think the update is rather good. More XP, a dragon axe AND a rune pick? Combined? Im not sure of the locations, but, I think you can use that pretty effectively. (Not to mention its FREE) 99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th
September 11, 200817 yr Author A combined rune/d axe, whats so good about it? And is a skill only about fast levels?
September 11, 200817 yr A combined rune/d axe, whats so good about it? And is a skill only about fast levels? It's actually very useful. I wont bother explaining it, there's plenty of information on Tipit and the KB. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

September 11, 200817 yr Dude, what's your problem? They rolled out an update to give people something to do. You don't like it? So what. I bet you other people do, as long as one of them likes it. Jagex have made someone happy, who are you to knock that? Tell me, if you had the opportonity and the choice to give 4 kids a present each. Would you do it or not? You got 15 presents btw...and you can give 4 to the 4 kids. I am guessing your answer is a yes. I don't got a problem i am just telling how i feel about the update. Maybe i find it stupid the Update, but i don't got a problem with it. I just think they could do better. The 15 present = is suggestions players had for the FM update... Meaning Jagex had tons of suggestions from players to build a good game update from, so if one of them would make game bad they could choose a other. Yet they made their "own". Out of those 4 kids i mentioned earlier as example. Jagex gave present to 1 of 4 only. That's all. Uhh, If I had to give only some people presents I'd give none. Then you'd be moaning about the update being cancelled. Follow me on Twitter!FORGET NOT THE CHICKEN.I have no intrest in helping "keyers" farm xp.
September 11, 200817 yr Author I don't get what you mean by that to be honest... It's funny how when F2P asks for Updates ( which they shouldn't get), and people say "If you give them once, they will ask for more". Now being P2P, i get this from you: that the update being cancelled, i will be moaning? You don't make sense. This thread shows how many exicted people has wanted a update, feel free to look at all the suggestions people discussed in here. The new items are useful, but i can promise you this: it does not change the fact that FM is useless. Which was what majority wanted, a useful skill. But hey you keep using Inferal Adze, and i hope you enjoy it to the best. But i don't see how a combo of rune pickaxe will make it any more interesting or better for FM, for me. And i am quite sure alot has same view on it. It does not mean we have problem with the update: it only means that this was disappointing based on the thing we discussed and hoped for. I seriously, seriously do not get people's way of thinking that think that only leveling a skill for lvls is what should a skill be based on. FM, a skill that's greatly appriated by alot players. Yet so disappointing.
September 11, 200817 yr Well said will. I say it more aggressive, but you put it up nice and calm. Would you have included the "...insults don't help" bit, because you failed miserably when you declared Jagex "stupid" and "truely...ignorant" for daring to disagree with you and another post on this thread "10/10 in rubbishness". You're entitled to your own opinion, but it might help you to remember that other posters are entitled to their own. September 11, 200817 yr Author I am not here to flame, but i am sorry for saying what i said. But i don't get why you disagree with me #-o Yes the updates was ok,but ....did it make FM better? no.
September 11, 200817 yr Nowhere did I say that I disagree with you ;) I think that the update made firemaking slightly better but agree that the skill could be improved. Personally I'd be tempted to significantly reduce the number of easily accessible ranges in the game and return FM back to its basic necessity. But even then there'd still be no use in having a high firemaking level, because you can make the same fire at level 1 with normal logs as you can at level 99 with magic logs. September 11, 200817 yr Author The skill is so loved by many players, the thing is: they know it can be put to good use. I know it... Why does people get 83 slayer? for d boots= EXICITING (CASH EANRING) Why do people get 85 slayer? for whip = FUN AND CASH Why do people get high magic = great cape + higher magic higher magical defense Why do i level mele stats= i become damaging beast with less 0s and less damage from monsters. Why did Jagex gives us exp boosted items ? To level something thats already easy?? That's stupid. A skill can be hard as hell, or might take me 4 years to level. But atleast i hope that the leveling will give me things i will use, rather things i wouldn't. I hope Jagex reconsiders a new update.
September 12, 200817 yr I do agree that Firemaking needs more updates. It seems useless right now. I'd really like to get some use out of my 99 Firemaking sometime.

Out of those 4 kids i mentioned earlier as example. Jagex gave present to 1 of 4 only. That's all. 1)I bet math isn't your favourite subject:4 presents to 4 people=16 presents, not 15. 2)They had many ideas, and they chose this one. Not happy about it? Well, don't play the minigame. As simple as it is. Better luck next update. I quite love it, the beacon system reminds me LOTR a lot, and was IMHO, missing in the game.
September 12, 200817 yr Author My math is not bad, i said there were 15 presents and you could give 4 of them to 4 kids. But i do not like math much :-# Anyhow the fact you like that minigame is good, but it does not make FM useful. As for that idea: i do not know where in the world that idea came from...and i am wondering if its based on player suggestion or just their own. As for me not doing minigame. I like FM, andi know what's bad for the skill. Unessecary boost and speed up to get levels... A skill is not about the levels, but the reasons for getting them. In other words: i would do the minigame and level FM, but i am tired of leveling it only for a 99 and a fancy cape.
September 12, 200817 yr Agreed, the beacon update didn't offer anything to revive the Firemaking skill. Firemaking doesn't need to be any faster, it needs to have a reason to level it up which beacons failed to do. Once you've done all the beacons there's no reason ever to do it again, it's not useful as an alternate way to train and it's not a fun minigame. Jagex should have lowered some of the tight restrictions (70 smithing?), made it into a multiplayer minigame and used the rewards system from Great Orb Project. You should have to be part of a team, with people cutting and running logs to the beacons while others make sure the fires stay lit. The amount of beacons lit and the period of time they are lit for would translate to points at the end of the minigame which would then be allocated between the players by the amount of contribution they made. Those points could then be spent on the 3 rewards we recieved, a set of clothing, various types of logs (including rare ones like Mahogany or various pyre logs), gnomish firelighters or fireworks. If the minigame were like that not only would it offer a fun way to train Firemaking, but it'd revive Vyre and Shade burning by making pyre logs easier to obtain and it'd allow firemakers to actually make money by allowing you to buy logs (including rare ones) with the points you earnt.
September 12, 200817 yr I'm not too sure about a firemaking minigame, i feel it would just get used a lot at first and then once everyone has all the clothing and stuff then it would just be abandoned. I much prefer the idea of flaming arrows and things like that. I see no reason why a high level firemaker cant make arrows to light. The way i see it, its no different to poisoning stuff. A weapon poisons for example will poison 5 projectiles (knives, arrows, darts or javelins) at a time. The same could be done with adding a bolt of cloth ( Construction) or Strip of cloth (crafting) to arrows at the one to five ratio. The higher your firemaking the more damage extra they can do. eg. low level firemaking +1 damage, medium +2, high level +3 and level 99 gives a +5 damage chance to each arrow. I feel that flaming arrows (once lit) should be untradeable however and can only be traded in unlit form. To put the arrows out simply use a bucket/jug of water on the pile of arrows. You cannot store flaming arrows in the bank. Flaming arrows do not stay lit when they drop on the ground either and will need to be relit in order to use again. This is only a rough idea but something like that would be cool. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. September 12, 200817 yr I agree with Firemaking needing a new update. I actually like the idea of Flame Arrows :D. "To do all that one is able to do, is to be a man; to do all that one would like to do, is to be a god." - Napoleon I
September 12, 200817 yr I agree with Firemaking needing a new update. I actually like the idea of Flame Arrows :D. Lol i have that idea before too. September 12, 200817 yr Add: Newfie_Chris to that support list. Firemaking does needs a good update :) Flamming swords would be alot of fun! The flame Sword special would be like the d long (that swoop motion) but with a limited fire strike/blast/wave. THAT'd be sweet ! I don't know which mod did this. I don't know why they did it. If they're looking for money, I can tell them I don't have any as I'm a student. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over 4 years of RuneScape. Skills that I have worked hard for and people like them can't take them away. If they give me my particles back now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for them, I will not pursue them. But if they don't, I will look for them, I will find them, and they won't like what'll happen
September 12, 200817 yr I've moved this to the Suggestions board, as it is gathering ideas and suggestions to update firemaking. The skill and potential ideas can still be discussed here. September 12, 200817 yr 100% supportage! The idea of having different ashes is great! : Could be used for several things. Anyway, I have a suggestion. Some sort of weapon that spits flames, you will need oil, a tinderbox, and the weapon frame. After around 20 attacks, you will need to reload it. I don't know a name for the weapon yet. There could be a series of these, like one on level 20, one on level 40, 60 and 80 and 99. Each level would stay alive for longer, the 99 one will stay for 100 hits. Burn damage could be three to five fast hits after each other hitting a maximum of like, 3, for the level 50 one, and a maximum of 6 for the level 99 one. You have the same chance of getting burned as getting poisoned. Oil could be found in the ground, by mining on certain spots over RuneScape. There will be a fountain of oil. Take as many buckets as you can, and fill them with the oil, as the fountain will disappear after 30 seconds. Proud owner of the Quest Cape since 31/08Quest suggestion: The Shadow of a Delver
