Windows key+d shows the desktop too, and it's probably faster than the bottom right button. The thing I always hate about both of those is that after you open up whatever you needed from the desktop, you can't just automatically get your maximized windows back. You have to click them one at a time. It's rather frustrating.

Got this in the mail today, motivated me a little more to keep writing these college essays. :)

Gratz, "David."

Oh, we already knew that, and he knows. That's why he didn't hide it.

Back at college after thanksgiving break today. Literally stepped in the door to my dorm and wanted to go back home. It's pretty great. Three more weeks, and then I'm done and I get a month back home. *sigh*

After that, I finally got back to writing. I'm feeling a lot better about it, a lot less frustrated, and it's really nice, though it's now 3:00 in the morning and I really should have gone to be like 3 hours ago. Time and ambition are the worst things. I never have ambition when I have time, and I never have time when I have ambition.

I'm pressing windows key combos like there's no tomorrow now.

Windows key + L is basically the same as Switch User except it can be done much quicker. You can appreciate the many wonderful applications of this.

What a weekend. 3 day lan party that kind of got ruined by a Steam sale and people burning out during the second day.

Wow, you guys really don't know any Win key shortcuts? These are the ones I can remember.

Win + P - Manage display options when you have 2 or more monitors connected.

Win + E - Open up Windows Explorer/File Explorer.

Win + <1-0> - Switch to windows based on their order in the taskbar. If items have been tabbed up, tapping on the same numeral key will cycle through the different instances/windows.

Win + F- Search.

Win + C - Control panel/Charms.

Win + R - Run.

Win + M - Minimise everything.

Win + Shift + M - Undo minimise, both Win + M and Win + Shift + M can be replicated with just Win + D.

Funny you guys talking about shortcuts. Since I started work I've learned quite a few, like Win+E, Win+D, Win+R... they're very useful for navigating user's PCs on slow connections :P

Also spent about £30 in the Steam sales. I didn't even know there were going to be any. I feel abused :(

But why would you want to minimize all of your windows quickly and at a moment's notice?

Oh right, porn.

The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.

I told her there was a secret method to doing it - and there is - but my once nimble and agile fingers were unable to perform because I was under the influence.

Rainmeter is quite a lot of fun to have. I might as well check tomorrow when I'm back on my laptop, where I have a virtual machine of Windows 8 (the release candidate) to see if they kept that functionality.

Today I learned why you if you wake up at 4am and can't sleep, you shouldn't work on programming. I've been at it for 7 hours, and while I am very happy with what I have, this has not been as fun a journey as it could have been. I am very happy to have the piece that deals with unexpected answers sorted out. It takes the 'the user is probably stupid' approach. It needs some tuning to provide more useful feedback, but it seems to doing it's job, which is to prevent garbage input from crashing the program. As a bonus, I'll be able to plug this into future projects. It's quite useful, and easy enough to feature creep should the need arise for more complicated functionality.

Yeah, it's generally a good idea to assume the user is an idiot. If there's a way to screw something up, they'll always find it.

In this case our teacher is going to try and break our programs infront of the class. At some point I'll start trying some more adventurous buttons, but it will take anything alphanumeric or punctuation based. All I did was decide I would take all inputs as strings, because I've never been able to mess that up, and this code sorts through the string looking for anything compatible with a specific data type, and filters out everything else that would cause an error. It can also limit the length (#of characters) to that it doesn't accidently say, try to store 40 billion in an integer.

I might look at making the length bit a bit more graceful, and just have it check to make sure the value will fit in it's data type before it tries to store it so that I don't need to limit length without reason.

More software upgrades today. Well, follow-up calls for defective CPU boards from the first round. The funny thing is, I'm still riding around with another tech but he's not certified for this equipment. So he's been playing games on his phone pretty much all day, "complaining" about how hard he's working.

Today, I made life a lot prettier for at least 2 pretty girls. Yes, I play off my chances with them, but still. I like making people happy.

And all it took was some conversation and support, even if it was only through messenger without actually seeing each other :)

And I seriously am the one of the nicest guys around my school. Like seriously, I learned some personal dramas today, through making those people happier. Just hearing out and presenting some counterarguments to why life is [bleep]ed for these 2 girls precisely was enough. I literally saved one girl from crying to sleep.

God, I feel good...

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

my PC mouse died. Stupid Razer products, biggest gimp ever.

Other then that, took a crapton of green waste to the tip (which thankfully is free for locals), tried finding a new light bulb for the freezer door with no luck, and did all the clothing washing.

Taking my car theory test today. I'm confident I'll pass the multiple questions but I think I'll struggle on the hazard perception test. I couldn't find any good sites to revising that.

What a coincidence. We have a program at our school for people who want to take their car theory tests, and today was exam day, with basically 80% of my year taking the exam. I've done mine ages ago though, so I didn't have to worry about it.
