I can't imagine having difficulty sharing a king size bed, my ex and I used to sleep in a twin bed together and it wasn't that bad. Sometimes I had trouble falling asleep but for the most part it was not a problem.

What the [bleep] have I done to deserve such shit with my sleep?

For the SECOND night in a row I WAKE UP at 3 AM. For no apparent reason. I am a really deep sleeper normally.

Last night I couldn't fall asleep again before 8 AM, hope it goes better this time around.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

Another late night of procrastinating. Yay.

Sounds like it won't be long before that bubble bursts again though.

Man i remember having to go to class int he mornings last year. It's been like 6 years since i finished highschool (damn i can't believe it's already been that long) and after that i never really had to wake up at a specific time. When i had to start waking up for class again it was extremely hard. In the first month i already missed like 6 or 7 classes and it kept getting worse. And then Immigration started having a crackdown on people at our school who didn't fill their Visa requirements and i had to start staying at "school" after hours to make up for hours i missed in the past...

I'm pretty sure my housemates and the neighbours think they're living in an episode of Jersey Shore.

They do [bleep] all uni work, and spend half their nights in clubs, getting drunk and hooking up with each other. The girls spend the next day talking about the 'mistakes' they made the night before and that they regret shitting on their own doorstep, while the guys brag about it. In a rather schizophrenic and confusing manner, both sexes agree that in the interests of sound future decision-making, they'll never get that drunk again, before getting drunk that again and proudly declaring, 'I've never been that drunk before!'

Their collective understanding of the outside world seemingly extends to soap operas and Christmas shopping; I mentioned the hurricane in the Philippines yesterday and how shocking it was that thousands of people died in the disaster, and most of them stared at me with a blank face as if basic human empathy were some kind of superfluous trait which only the weird and the strange would bother about. Apparently it's more relevant to the world that Sam Callaghan was voted off of X-Factor, and Spencer cheated on (yet another) girl on Made in Chelsea, but that he's an aw-right guy really because he's "fit".

If any one of them establishes anything more than a strictly casual relationship with a member of the opposite sex, they're chided for being "gay" and not part of the uni lifestyle because they're allowing themselves to be "tied down". This, somewhat ironically, coincides with a pre-drinking ritual of tasking each other to pull someone during the night. There's a clear requirement for sexual relationships in this subculture, and yet a paralytic fear of one such relationship lasting any longer than a week or so.

I guess if I had one word for it, it would be 'laddish' and it's really nauseating watching perfectly intelligent adults, both men and women, in their early-20s being pressured into following a culture which essentially requires you do boil yourself down to a lowest common denominator like pre-pubescent children in a schoolyard.

This is the modern uni life.

In the last 2 and a half hours I have had the chance to be a part of a party for journalistic students.

When I arrived, everything smelled of vomit. Everyone was too drunk for me. And it had already turned into couples dancing. At 12.30 AM.

Needless to say, the party was rubbish for me.

I'm going to the wrong university...

This is Europe. I can find a party practically every single [bleep]ing evening, if I wanted to. It seriously gets on health aswell.

Only class I've had issues going to is music tech which starts at 8:25 in the morning. Besides that all my classes start after 10. I can remember when I started uni I have issues making classes at 11. I thought I was lazy now...I look back at my freshmen year and I shudder.

Happens to me a couple of times a year. Never understood why either.

I'm just glad to be going to bed before 5 am tonight. Hopefully I'll get to sleep in like an hour and I can get 7 or so hours of sleep.

You know there's a quote:

"If you want to get laid, go to a university. If you want to learn, go to a library."

"The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."

[bleep] [bleep] [bleep] [bleep] [bleep].

This is the worst [bleep]ing morning I have had in a long while. Might be worst in my life. Before I got out of bed, I missed a Chemistry Lab, found out that I CANNOT retake a test and have failed a subject, I have a completely unexpected yet [bleep]ing bad hangover, and my date for the university ball bailed on me. And I seriously need to hit the toilet.

Hey, look on the bright side, at least you can ask out that other girl that wanted to go with you now :P

.

Follow-up from the happy thread:

After all of these years of science classes, I finally get to research a topic I'm passionate about... Which, ironically, only happened once I decided not to pursue a career/degree in the sciences.

And it's so interesting. I know how minor it is in the grand scheme of things but this is basically the first time I've been excited about my education in years. I'm actually getting pretty emotional just thinking about it.

For reference, the topic is discrimination against transgender individuals. And... What the [bleep]. That's really all I can say. I thought I was going to be able to approach this calmly, now I'm not sure if I can write about it at all.

I knew what to expect, of course, but seeing the statistics changes things, to put it lightly.

I can translate a few Dutch documents if you're interested in that, TG counseling & healthcare is quite large here.

Today was another day unemployed.
