But seriously... what could have possibly gone wrong to make them need to shut the worlds down for this long?

 

 

 

Do you really think it was due to their route-finding corrections causing lag?

 

 

 

Or some just... uber code fail on their part that would have caused major bug abuse?

RSOF is megaspammy. :? spamclick next page to see three-four posts appear every second :lol: Worlds Offline thread got locked :XD: 1625 posts in less than an hour..

 

Hope they get the servers up quick, me wants my cape back :thumbsup:

Well, I'd like a bit more information right now. About the problem and what we can expect. A little update wouldn't hurt.

I am extremely disappointed with Jagex.

 

 

 

First, they use the landmark 150th quest for low-leveled BS. While I appreciate they are finishing a storyline, I had hoped for at least a Master quest.

 

 

 

Second, they took two steps forward with the elimination of familiars and safe-guarding "hacked" characters, but five steps back by limiting it to two worlds. With drop parties worth over 1m, the room has about 1/4 of the world's people in it. With over 10m, half of the world's population is in it. With over 20m, most people in the world are there. Even just 1m drop parties were laggy as hell. I honestly do not see how RWTs could effectively use the party room, what with the spamming bankers making sure all the noobs come out of the woodwork and bumrush the party room. There's absolutely no point to the party rooms, now. You'd have to have a top-of-the-line computer not to lag out there. And even if you don't lag out, what are the chances of getting something good over 1k+ other people crammed into the Party Room?

 

 

 

Third, they made so many mistakes with launching the update. They crashed the servers, half of the pages still display the Phoenix banner, the KB article wasn't released for 15 minutes after the launch of the quest, and a German announcement appeared on the main page. You'd think that after discontinuing the BTS and skipping a week of updates, they'd be able to get it right.

He probably doesn't know how hard it is to maintain a game as huge as RS... making a game (even MMORPG) is really easy compared to that.

You haven't finished the new quest have you? How can one judge so early?

 

 

 

Yea, I enjoyed dropping 1M needles in world1/world2, watching white dots rushing into the party room (and cursing afterwards) is fun, but I guess most players in the 2 world will camp in the party room now.

 

 

 

Obviously they crash the servers on purpose to fight RWT. No one logs in = no wealth transfer = no RWT. See the logic here?

Ok lets face it, Jagex have always sucked since they destroyed RSC, a few good updates, destroyed by the many bad, but we all still play because all in all its a good game, but this time, Jagex have majorly screwed up and tbh RSOF needs to just be raped before everyone is asking for their 19c back.

 

Personally for me its (does math) 31 days divide by £5....

I love how now they only have two worlds for party rooms and they put it in a three-line post in the "In Other News..." section.

 

 

 

Curious to see what they mean by the confirmation box when going away from the game window. Would this affect switching tabs? If so, this will really, really suck. I constantly switch tabs to do other things while playing RS.

No good, got to the login page, and it says error on login. I think I'm just going to be patient now and read the L&H for clues on 150. Would be a nice way to kill the time.
