Just finished Forrest Gump. I've seen it a couple of times but I haven't actually seen it through the end. It's a brilliant film

  • I watched Ghostbusters last night. Funny movie for those who haven't seen it.

Tonight I would go the gym. But my fitness partner had other business to take care of. So I had an evening of rest. Instead of sweating on the 'wave' I went to the cinema. And that was lucky, because they played Fados again. I wanted to see this movie a wihle ago, but I had to miss it. As the title suggests this movie deals with Fado. So it's a music-film, about Portugese music. I'm not really known with Fado, I know some artists, but that's it. Luckily being an expert is not required for this movie. I really liked this music, it's very tragic and they sing it with so much feeling. Seeing how these people live for their music is very interesting. Another thing that was very interesting was the way this movie is shown to us. It would be easy to choose for some background images from the beautiful Portugal. This would most likely result in a bit of a, how do you say it, meager promotion video for Portugal. And with all the impressions the street life would give, the music would dissapear to the background. Luckily we are watching a Carlos Saura film, and he always chooses a different way. The film is set in a sort of minimalistic world, it has got something from a museum. So there are obviously boundries, which is a good thing. Every now and then we get some influence from the outside world, but it's always to compliment the music, not the other way around. There is some archive material, dancers who play streetscenes, and of course shots of the instrumentalists. These images, mixed with the beautiful singing and the great playing make this a very relaxing experience. Recommended

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

Hancock - Amazing! Such a good story, and even though I thought Will Smith would make a terrible superhero, I enjoyed this movie a lot.

The Prestige - Confusing, but the ending made it all worthwhile.

Hellboy - It was really enjoyable, except it was kind of stupid at some parts. But of course, now I have to see HB2.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (I think it was return of the king at least)

Always fun to watch. For some reason I laughed my [wagon] off when the king jumped off the edge of the cliff while he was on fire.

WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME

#1 Wongtong stalker.

Im looking for some No Limit soldiers!

^ Been watching all the Appendices lately (I have the special extended editions). What a treat. Really.

Troy: Decent movie. I read part of the book Helen of Troy, and it was different than the movie, but that usually happens. Nonetheless, it wasn't too bad of a movie.

Tried to watch it, because one of my friends have wanted to see it for a while, but it couldn't really grab my interest. Boy, was it ever boring. Not even Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Laurie could do anything to redeem it. :P

The Dark Knight - Epic. I thought this was amazing. Everyone says it but Heath Ledger was brilliant.

Dawn of the Dead 2004 - Normally, I'm a wimp about Horror movies. This one wasn't scary. There was very little suspense and nothing really upsetting in the imagery.

City of God - The Story of kids turning into Gangsters in South America. It was a great film and it left you thinking.

Haven't been watching movies very much lately because of going through the Stargate series (currently season 10 of SG1 and 3 of Atlantis) for quite a while now. Anyways went to the theater today to see:

Hamlet 2 - This was [bleep]ed up and hilarious. There is some stupid funny in there, and some just plain stupid, but a lot of it is great.

Rented "Lions for Lambs" earlier tonight, I really liked it. It takes place present-day, with the war on terror.

It's quite heavy on the dialogue, but it brings up many good points. It's not for everyone, but I'd recommend it.

Saw it a while back Couldn't remember it so I watched it over again

Great movie

If you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

Just came back from The Dark Knight.

It wasn't as good as I thought it would be based on all the reviews it got, and I wasn't really blown away even though I was watching it on one of these.

I'd give it a 6.5/10, I don't think it lived up to they hype at all.

Last Film: Hellboy - Didnt think id like but was great.

just watched "you dont mess with the zohan".

i went with a few of my middle eastern friends and we laughed more than anyone else in the theater because we could relate to some of the jokes.

-"ever since 9/11 everyone hates us."

-"hey, everyone hates us also."

-"why do they hate you?"

-"they think we're you!"

step brothers.

It was alright. I didnt go in expecting much, but suprisingly it was pretty damn funny. I liked it a lot better than talladega nights. It also has (in my opinion) one of the funniest lines of the year;

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but I'm going to kick you repeatedly in the balls."

Paranoid Park A friend gave me this for my birthday. So. I watched it monday evening. I was kind of tired, and for one of the first times that added to the 'experience'. Actually there was no real experience. I just kept my eyes open at the screen. The movie seemed to be full of gimmicks. I understand the idea behind it, but it just didn't work. Normally that would annoy me to death, but since I was so tired I couldn't be bothered. There are some good scenes as well, and I wouldn't call this a bad movie. More an experiment that didn't work out as it was suposed to be. Or something like that, in my eyes. Still, if you've always appreciated Van Sant's work, you can safely get this.

I seriously expected some lame-[wagon] "Epic/scary/romantic Movie" movie, but it was really funny.

I don't play anymore, but I'm grateful I played through the best RS times!

Stargate

"Stargate SG-1" seasons 1-10 (complete series)

Stargate: The Ark of Truth

Stargate: Continuum

"Stargate: Atlantis" seasons 1-5e6 (currently airing last season)

A month and a half ago I had never watched anything Stargate related, except maybe a minute or two of the original movie. Three movies and 313 (42 minutes a piece, you do the math ;) ) episodes later I have seen pretty much everything in the regular Stargate continuity. There's just too much to talk about, so I'll just say I definitely enjoyed it. I didn't think SG1 really picked up until a few seasons in, but Atlantis was pretty good the entire time. The two movies were basically just long episodes, and they follow the SG1 team. The original movie is a Roland Emmerich movie, which explains it pretty well. Neither of the TV series would make it into my top 5 but they are still enjoyable.

Don't Mess with the Zohan - Pretty funny, although I think there are too many sex jokes (I'm a bit of a prude here, hah)

Kung-Fu Panda - is awesome.

Hellboy II

It was pretty good, although there were these 2 kids running around the cinema. Some guy in front of them shouted and told them to "sit the **** down and watch the ****ing movie". Others and myself found this very amusing.

Angel Face After Laura (hist best known noir) and various other classics I think this is the last exersise in noir by Preminger. And this one is also a succes. I love his stripped style, it's really basic and it keeps a distance. Preminger respects his audience, and expects us to form an opinion of the caracters on our own. Various Preminger themes return in this movie, and that's a good thing to see. Especially in a time where artistic freedom in Hollywood wasn't really a standard. Howard Hughes, what a hero. Also nice roles from Robert Mitchum, who I always liked and Jean <3 Simmons <3.
