Why do people assume men always cry less?

Strange. The few times I cried in my secondary school I got called no names. Hell, people just tried to make me feel better instead. Is my old school strange?

Look, you don't look weak because you're crying. You look weak because you can't see even slightly into the future and understand that losing friends is part of life, and that you will meet a lot of new people and friends at high school. That's pretty ridiculous man. The only time I cried in the past 4 years was when my grandmother died, and it was because it was the first time in my life that I saw my dad choke up and cry. There's something about seeing my father cry that makes me want to bawl my eyes out.

I've cried 2-3 times in the past 5 years.

 

People assume men cry less because they do, on average, cry less. That's all there is to it.

First off, you're barely at the tip of the iceburg (puberty-wise) and aren't as mature as you think. Right now you're dealing with some tough times in dealing with yourself and problems around you, and all the extra hormones aren't helping. I'm fifteen, and I know what you're going through because I've been there (however, I didn't cry about it... no offense). :

 

 

 

Men can't cry because it shows unsturdiness. If you allow yourself to break down and cry about something, then you don't have a handle on the situation and are allowing it to have power over you. Men are expected to have power, and stay in control of themselves and the things that oppose them.

They don't. Simple as. Only a fool would assume the least weepy woman in the world sheds more tears than the most emotional man on the planet. However if we modify your question slightly -

Because it's true. The last thing I want to do is generalise but the average woman cries more than the average man. I've seen quite a few of my girlfriends cry but I've only ever seen guys cry out of extreme pain or anger, and even then they do their best to keep tear-shedding to a minimum.

 

 

 

But there's nothing wrong with it, no reason why guys should feel an obligation to remain dry-eyed all the time. If you're upset about something I think it's pretty healthy to have a good sob about it.

24 hours in a day, subtract:

 

6? hours for school

 

9 hours for sleeping

5 hours of free time.

 

Not to mention the weeked, where you have 2 empty days. If you cared about your girlfriend as much as you say you do, you could probably find some time in your 47 hours a week of free time to do something, no? People actually cry because of stress. When you cry, stress is released through tears (I used to know exactly how this worked, but now I kind of forget, sorry :S). If you work out, or run, or exercise you'll release stress. Stress can take form in other ways, such as anger (believe me, I know, I've punched a few holes in walls).

Well his tone was a bit off, but the point was right. You really shouldn't be obsessing/crying over a girl when you're only 13. It's okay to date, but remember you still got your whole life ahead of you and you'll probably meet even better girls. The last thing you need at 13 is a "serious" relationship.

Likely because when a man feels physical pain it's usually dull and prolonged. When a woman does it's excessive and quick. This increase in pain in such a short time period might be a partial reason. I learned young in life (5 or so) that tears did nothing to fix the problem, aside from give me a stuffed up nose and make me sick. I can remember the last time I cried. I was climbing a tree and fell, managed to put a branch right through my bottom lip, leave a scar above my eye, and crack my head open.

 

 

 

I've had some painful situations since, but ever since I decided that crying wasn't worthwhile I haven't even felt the slightest urge to. I suppose over 14 years my pain threshold might be a bit better than when I was 5. :lol:

Crying really isn't all that bad, so long as your not crying for stupid reasons. Crying for two hours a day over your friends leaving is a bit overkill, but if it helps you feel better, go ahead.
