I mean he cares just not enough to start no lifing right now.  Hes going at his own pace which is pretty fast tbh, like 100 hours this week, but he isn't going to play more than he wants to keep his rank right now

Why do you always make such huge assumptions? I see you making assumptions on so many players like you're some kind of expert but I can't help but feel you never have any way to back them up

He has time and again stated he does not care for ranks, nor that he cared where he finished or who finished before him.

It's not news.

I read this thread every now and again. Every time I am impressed by how much devotion some players have to reach that magical 200M xp milestone. To me 100 hours per week is an extreme amount, and yet people here only speak about it as "going at his own pace", as if it was nothing special at all. I mean how the beep does these guys earn a living? I think I have so little time over nowadays, but for these guys, with all the RS playtime they take on, they can't have time for even visiting the WC...

Still I got to say I am impressed by their motivation.

You gotta neglect stuff like that unless you live at home/have rich parents.

Alkan is fortunate enough to be above 100k subs on yt so he has an income from that, though I am sure it would be higher if he knew how to edit/put time into learning how to, been watching him for a few yrs now since he started his alt, and he still uses purely cantasia and has weirdscreen resizing and the big blue boxes :-:

O well maybe after 5.2b he will put more time into making various content and proper editing

These guys obviously dont "earn" a living. Real work doesnt involve multi-tasking Runescape at the same time. They work hard, but are definitely not "going at their own pace". They do enjoy it though and have real passion for the game.

You would be surprised how possible it is to afk something on RuneScape and focus on a complex task simultaneous.  Of course you can't do something like manual labor, but there's plenty of other stuff or even junk work we all have.  You get more accustomed to it after a while too.

Actually, at least for me, I end up being MORE productive in my work and tend to work for longer stretches if I'm afking RS on the side, as I don't feel the temptation to play as much because I am already playing.

It all really depends on the person. All I know is, when I do my course work, I study for maybe 1-2 hour stretches. When I do my course work while mining Seren Stones, I end up studying for 3-4 hour stretches, sometimes even more. Probably some psychological reason, but it works very well for me.

You'd be surprised how unproductive you are in real life when you're afking on rs

That's situational though depending on one persons goals and preferred lifestyles. Telling someone they're losing to a game that you define and create rules for is a tad bit silly.

"Real life" can pertain to countless things. What if someone is a stay at home spouse and chooses to spend time playing a game. They could be unproductive in your opinion, but that's all it's coming down to. Judging people for their opinions and preferences.

Because i talk to him and he literally said exactly what i just said on stream when someone asked what he thinks about alkan passing him eventually.  I talk to a lot of these players somewhat regularly

Also ya i feel like afking rs helps me get stuff done sometimes.  Sometimes i just have to log out and concentrate, but other times it really does help pass the time and just help me get things done.  It really depends on the situation

Dseance does not class as every top plaer "somewhat regularly"

Before you say you talk to others, you've pretty much appeared as a spokesperson for dseance, saying stuff he tells you and speak on behalf of him and whatnot lol. Luxury of being lolfamous on lolrs

He has told me to post here on his behalf atleast once, but if we are having a discussion about players going for 200m and i have information what is wrong with sharing it.  I don't say anything to bias or negative towards a player i just say what i know.  And to be fair i barely ever do this

It really depends on your job or the work you do. It's easy to do HITS on Mturk while AFK scaping. Some jobs you just need to be there, like security jobs, or have lots of downtime.

Well if you have a popular youtube or twitch stream then Jagex may send you cash.

If your in a socialistic country like alot of European then that government check is probably enough to get by.

I mean it's not like you need enough money to have a car or a family or anything because you are just going to be sitting in your apartment playing RS 10-12 hours every day.

You don't even need a top end PC for that.

You can look up Kriparrian [sic] for a nonlifer who is eeking out a comfortable living in video game playing.

Some top players actually work without being able to play (obviously not 8hours per day) and others make money while they play (merching RL products).

And problably some 2k14 top players even have college, I don't really know those.

I agree which is why I said REAL work.

For example, writing a research paper for instance which requires your 100% undivided attention.

There are lots of work that are not REAL work.

For example, cramming an exam is not REAL work. You can probably afk runescape doing that. I agree.

Filling forms, taking care of babies for instance, is not REAL work. Listening to lectures in school is NOT real work. You can afk doing that too.

Security is definitely not real work. You can probably do security, afk runescape, afk 2 more games, cram for exam and take care of babies all at the same time.

In fact most CEOs of the world can afk runescape cos they do not do REAL work.

EDIT: Sleeping for instance is REAL work. Eating, bathing is not REAL work. You can afk runescape.

you're basing work being real or not on if you can afk runescape or not????  ok then??

Yes because real work means work that requires 100% concentration.

Sorry, but your definition of "real work" seems to be very subjective. You cannot decide what is "real" for others.

In my opinion it doesn't matter at all whether works needs to be "real" or not. As long as someone enjoys to play this game, pursuing their goals and can sustain their lifestyle financially by whatever means necessary, is fine by me.

And although real life is a big aspect to the ability to reach 200m all, discussions like this has been here before and it is fine to discuss it, but I would remind you all that it may not be used negatively or in violation of the RS rules and Tip.it Forum rules. This is just a friendly reminder to prevent mishaps =3!
