Removal of new high level potions in PvP

Featured Replies

What about wealth? D claws are inacessible to me because I spend all of my money on skills. So when I want to PvP, it is less acessible to me because I cannot afford high quality weapons and armor!!!!!

Not being able to afford herblore training is the same thing as not being able to afford weaponry. Ban all weapons from PvP now!!!

Jagex? Nerf something good? pfft, never...

I'm f2p so I haven't even seen these potions used, But come-on, This isn't fair for the people that worked to get 93 herblore to use these potions in pvp to then have it taken away, Jagex needs to stop listening to the whinny 12 year olds and start listening to the more mature players. :wall:

I really wouldn't have cared either way, because I'm only 41 herb, and not a pvper. Although it should have been allowed to stay.

But the fact is that they held a poll on what are you usually doing in runescape, and I think 4% said pking. And they caved in because they think a lot of people will quit like the day the wild was destroyed. It seems more than obvious that they care WAY to much about pvp even though most people don't pk too often.

I can't believe it. The majority of reactions to the new update were positive on tip.it. That should say enough. The core of players liked the update.

loads of pvpers on tif amirite??

As if player killers were the majority of runescape players to begin with.

Also, am I the only who suspects that the many people who insisted that these new potions are overpowered didn't even end up in a combat situation were their opponent was using those potions? Seems like it's just, "O NOEZ GAWDLY POTIONZ I CANT USE NERF PLZ!"

Exactly, i saw at the ebginning of the update thread how many people didn't even read the herblore page on them.

For example: So many people didn't even notice the fact that you could only take one dose of Recover Special every few minutes, which really helped balance it.

The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.

People seem to be being a little quick to judge with this removal...

These potions massively give you extra levels, and to make them you need a really really high herblore level. That doesn't take skill, or a ton of effort...that takes sheer amounts of cash. Which I suppose takes effort to get, but it's still not fair to ruin PVP for everyone who doesn't want to shell out oodles and oodles of cash for level 85 herblore. I think taking them out of bounty hunter and PVP was a smart move..maybe not soul wars, castle wars, etc etc. With these potions, because they're untradable, you're almost in effect making herblore another combat skill. There's no way for you to buy the potions, and you can only make them with high herblore, and they really really really increase your stats...so therefore herblore in PVP was another combat skill that you could only get through cashola. I think this is a wise choice.

actually if using the spec pots all time, it's extra 25% spec any 30 secs.

the problem that jagex created now is:

d bow used to take 55% spec, so good timer could 2 spec with it. after the release of new pots they quickly changed it to 65%, so now same thing is possible but only for those who can make these new potions - that's non fair at all for all the rest who could in the past do 2 specs.

and then, jagex take it out of pvp things - but the weapon dark bow still takes 65%. anybody that doing any kind of pvp and using dark bow no matter what can't use the spec twice like he was used to. what jagex can do now about it? make weapons change their spec needs depends in what you're doing atm? they totally screwed up here that's for sure...

want_a_box.png

The new ceo's view on the game made me play again. Finally a decent strategy, fixing of long existing shortcomings in the game and attention for higher lvl players. Jagex almost convinced me with the last few updates.... Till this.. An utterly stupidly motivated nerfing of a nice update.

Ok im not even gonna read the posts I read the first page and nobody said this.. Just make them tradeable.. Im sure the rediculous price will be rewarding to all the players with high herblaw... then it wont be unbalanced because the pvpers can buy them

So, players who didn't put time and money into making balanced accounts should have equal opportunity when facing players who did? That doesn't make any sense. There is no way that most PVP'ers would ever have gotten access to these potions without selling their precious Armadyl Godswords. I'm skeptical that no one's even SEEN these potions in use, much less the "r34l" player killers.

In closing, balanced accounts should be rewarded. Fair and Square.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

That would make the update utterly useless. This is a high level update with untradeable rewards and high benefits. It was PERFECT. They brought to life a near dead skill into the top few. And the best thing is very few ppl would actualy see them in action. Herblore has very few ppl above 80. Seeing a overload potion in pvp would be as rare as seeing someone mage at gwd.

This last step was outrageous, no single benefit but for the winy kids that hate anything to do with effort. I bet when half of the same ppl who demanded high level untradeable updates were thinking of something like cooking or fletching, something that takes a lot less effort than herblore.

Seriously JaGeX, you lost half of my respect today

Not quite sure how it would make it useless...I think your opinion could be biased because you like to PVP... You would still be able to use your new potions... AND the people with high herblaw who don't pvp, or if you needed some spare cash, could sell the potions for what I'm sure would be high prices, in which the pvp'ers with low herblaw would certainly pay

I don't PVP nor i have high herblore, but this was a step in the right direction, they benefited higher level players, specially in this long dead skills. Making them tradeable would make the update fairly useless, since the GE generation wants things fast, not done right. Higher Levels= Benefits.

Also, it would end in the potions getting cheaper than the ingredients, killing the skill... again

I'm sorry for all you pvp'ers out there, but I actually really like how they made the potions unusable in pvp. It just means supplies to train herblore will be buyable again sooner, which in turn means I'll be able to get 90/92/95 (idk if overload is worth getting yet and if I want to stew/greenmans ale every time I need extreme range pots) sooner! So yeah, I think this was a pretty good move (at least for me).

Too bad overload is worthless now. It was clearly a potion made for hybrids in a pvp situation ...

Wouldn't it still be pretty useful at tds/dks, where you use both range/melee? It would make brews easier to use too I guess.

To use with Brews would require you to sip 3-4 times to recover the 50 HP lost, if 99 HP. That means drinking 4 doses of 2 quite expensive potions, as compared to drinking 4 doses of 4 relatively cheap potions.

Yeah, I know what I'd pick.

I just looked it up, 3500 people have 96 herblore less than 15,000 have 84. That isn't enough people to make this update completely ruin pvp.... so why remove the pots from it. So far this is one of the dumbest things jagex has removed. They finally made a good update for a skill that was almost useless after a certain level then they just killed the update one day later.

People seem to be being a little quick to judge with this removal...

You say it as if it makes a huge difference. The potions didnt make a substantial difference in a fight (with the exception of magic) or at least ive found. You could hit a few hp higher and Magic was finally balanced out in the triangle. Are you going to complain if and when Jagex do make a high level Magic update? Honestly, the complaints mainly come from people who dont have the level and thats because of jealousy. They cannot use this update themselves, so instead they play the unfair card. It isnt unfair in the slightest, as you have access to the herblore skill and can train it to whatever level or experience you desire. Dont have enough or cant buy the ingredients? Not my problem. Its the whole point of training your stats - so you can be better; better than other players, or better in general. Its why we train our strength/attack to 99 among other things.

It seems that lazy pkers dont understand that life isnt fair, you gotta work hard for things. I would love to see Jagex put the potions back into pvp and minigames for God sakes...but then they would have alot of lazy [wagon] 10 year old pkers spaming the forums to make it more "equal"

im sorry, but you dont have to 'work hard for things' in a game. ITS A GAME, no one on tif seems to understand that, they seem to think to have fun on a game its all about hard work, if that was the case, id have quit years ago. Granted, training to be able to pk is work, but its all afkable so who cares.

No, the definition of a game http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/game. In none of those definitions does it say anything about no work being involved.

Tell me one popular game that does not have you work for a reward? There is none.

The fact that you even say something like this about a game based around working on skills to unlock content is absurd. The fact that you dismiss certain skills and say that you can just AFK train them is against the rules.

Stop wanting things to be spoon fed to you, that's not the way things work.

Prism_Swords.png

I dont see what the fuss is.

Personally I find it would be a good thing to let them be in PVP, as they require skills outside of combat.

But isnt PVP just about combat? ...

EDIT:

@Abby,

Nothing in runescape is hard. It's all clicking. Sure, length of time and boredom make it more annoying and, well, longer, but it isnt hard.

If you're playing a game for competitiveness or a challenge then you shouldnt play runescape.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

So, lets compromise and make everyone/no one happy. Work it sort of like they did summoning, only no addition to cmbt in non-PVP and in PVP it adds to your cmbt ONLY if you are carrying extreme pots. Everyone satisfied?

No offence intended but that idea is awful,

unless you're taking the piss, then its great.
