You can also mage ramokee stuff, except skinweaver.

You should mage everything besides forgetting mages/ranges and skele mages and hellhounds

And books ;)

Maging everything will eat up a [cabbage]ton of fire runes, though.

By the sounds of it, you guys doing Warped floors want to get people in who don't use Hexhunters, since so many of you have them now. I think a change of policy (if only for the short term) is needed until things balance out again.

I'm more of a fan of magic, anyway.

Well, Hex bows are so rare that I don't think anybody who can use one would turn it down if they got the drop.

And yes, more Cele Cat users would be helpful, but the problem is how long it takes to switch from 2h to mage with the Cele Cat. Also, fire runes are a big issue with the Cele Cat; you can easily burn through 1k+ fires in a floor, especially with t10 Blitzer. That's a good minute or two worth of ess crafting.

But you do have the flexibility with Wind Surge when times are tough, still an acceptably powerful spell when you've got a Cele Cat staff, or other non-air elemental runes you get from drops. Fire runes are a bonus. I do appreciate that it's a big ask to turn down a Hexhunter, but I think it might turn into a problem if too many people have them. I personally wouldn't have a problem with turning one down, I care more about how my binds help me out, not how rare they are.

For all hex teams it is very simple to take 30 seconds to make surge runes at the start of a floor. Any time gained from having CSB users is often lost as they don't prioritise very well.

There's already a demand for everyone to buy and make laws, cosmics, a toolkit, and usually astrals too. Surge runes on top will really slow down the start of the dungeon. And you won't even get Fire Surge unless you do fires too. All in all, it's a task of teaching people to know how to use the CSB if they have one, and what to do if not. (I hate it when someone starts meleeing a Primal Warrior that I'm maging, when there's a zombie right there.)

Gate HT when the dungeon begins. After 1-2 GDs or just killing random weak monsters in the beginning when you got nothing to do, you should be able to make at least 20 casts of air/fire surge. It's not like you'll really need to gate a door in the first 5 mins anyway.

EDIT: I find the biggest source of money, outside of cashpile drops, at least in the beginning, are usually from green charms. If you know no one in your team will be using crimson charms, you can afford to use those as well. (Except if it's a necro floor, in which case save 1 crimson charm so the blocker can make a t8 skinweaver from salve eels.)

Also, waaaay too many people leave rune ess drops alone. Picking up all the rune ess drops in a dungeon easily numbers at least 500 ess, and sometimes I get as much as 700-1k.

Yeah, and really unless you are fighting Necrolord with magic or you have a CCstaff, you probably won't need more than 20-30 casts the entire dungeon.

Also, FWIW making Astrals, Laws, and Cosmics takes roughly twenty seconds. I make 10 astrals, which usually results in around 15-20 runes which is plenty for a DG. I make 30 cosmics, which ends up being 60, which is again plenty. And I make 60 laws, which is usually enough but if I not I can just make more whenever I get enough ess drops to make fire runes (which I do during downtime).

It only takes too long to switch from 2h -> fire surging if you're slow. Like everything else in dungeoneering, you have to train yourself to do it quickly. With a celestial staff, blazer is better. Bemis is amazing with his.

But yeah, we need more mages in DGS, and I'm glad so many people are happy to oblige.

As far as hexers getting mage runes - easy task. You can usually get around ~60 casts from the start table alone, then just pick them up from drops along the way and you're set. The problem is when you get Hope or Dread - you'd have to consider either meleeing or stopping to make runes, and neither of which is a nice option.

I thought Hope and Dread were both hex-able?

Plus, meleeing Dread isn't half-bad as long as 3+ people aren't doing it. With just 2 meleers, Dread is still a breeze since it's always just gonna run around for the magers instead of targetting the meleers.

And you always have the option of being the blocker for Hope, instead of actually killing it.

Hex sucks on hope. I need to learn to properly block it. Yesterday we kept failing so idk.

On dread it's a fair bit worse than magic. As the keyer I hex it if I come to boss late (doing last doors) or if I cba to make runes.

Also I have rigour. I don't really recommend hexing dread to anyone else.

Edit: Jax, mage pray w/ turm/piety and with a bit of food you should probably be ok.

I wanna know whose smartass idea it was to make the 3bo world on one of the official PC worlds.

The Boss guide and the tips from a 3bo rank are both down, any other reading I should do?

Search through the first 4-5 pages of general guides in the archive of wisdom and read every dungeoneering related guide.

As for the hex/ccs situation, I think it would be beneficial if more people bound ccs over prapier (and ALL members were strongly encouraged to get 70 rc so they can bind a surgebox) as I've noticed the slowest part of the gds tends to be the warriors. However, I've noticed quite a few people with csb that i've had to tell to mage a warrior because they were meleeing a random zombie which anyone can do.

On a seperate note, I'm taking a month or so off dging due to exams irl (which is why I'm on the ban list - so I can't be tempted). In the few days I've spent dging with DGS I've been really impressed, the majority of 100+ dgers really know what they're doing and are fun to dg with.

P.S. Congrats on the hex Meamzed, I think I must be a lucky charm for hexes, 3 gazers and 2 hexs before 102 dg :D

I personally enjoy maging in dg's quite a bit, but I don't have the speed to successfully switch between 2h and csb (maybe with staff), autocast wind/fire surge, and start blasting away. I don't know if I'd take csb over hex, but I also don't have anywhere near the level to use it, or kill the thing that drops it (93 range/90 slayer).

So, chances are, I'll stick with maging for quite a while. Noting z0diark's comment about targeting warriors first unless there's a more threatening (ie shade) target, I'll also keep in mind - I have a tendency of just following what everyone else does, then we all mage warriors at once when everything else is dead, but having one or two guys target the warriors while everyone else kills the other stuff first should make it go faster.

Plus, seeing the ss spam when blazer (probably got the name wrong yet again, the one that continues hitting after the first damage splat) activates is always amusing to me, even if it really doesn't do a whole lot for healing.

Just got back my prestige now after ragequitting dunge, as friends and the want to at least round 68 DG to 70 made keeping prestige at 1 too hard. Ima try DGS again see if you do any of my floors, I want to learn because ultimately I would like 6-8M in the skill for Rapier, Ccbow, CLS, and Rigour; however, if by 70 my exp is still [cabbage], and I'm really not enjoying 30/40/50 min large floors even with friends I will properly rage quit it, binds destroying and all.

Hope all you guys can put up with me :3 Ima whack here most of what a PM to Obt the other night said and hopefully a few of you can help maybe open my eyes a bit more and stop me being so hateful of this minigame skill.... Skiligame.... Yes.... Skiligame....

And please if I am too unaware of what to do in DG do tell me, and if you feel it best that I don't join DGS for floors because ultimately (I know too) I will slow you down, some way, some how or another, whether it's my fault or my lag. The PM below will illustrate that I know hardly anything when it comes to DG thus adding to the hatred of it.

Just thought I'd send you a message and try to talk through a bit more about dg. I know I've probably frustrated you a lot lately with all this talk, but today I just melted down over it, completely to the point where I reset my prestige to 1 and forever ignore it. I still detest it more than ever, due to the very nature and fabric of it and a bad subconscious implication that has been forever associated with it.

I will try my best to learn how to key and be better at DG, but one thing you need to know is my laptop is insane with lag. "Loading please wait" screens are the bane of my existance, and normally whomever I DG with will have cleared the next room (or be running through another door if they have SSH's and thus causing more lag) before I can even move. *IMPORTANT* This is a real big factor for my DGSing... It's the reason I'm so reluctant to key until I have a new better lappy.

Currently I really feel that because my exp sucks so bad, and my level is so bad (sat in DGS a few days back and in 10 hours of me being sat there reading everything there were 2 ABD calls.) I'm just so disenchanted. My pessimism comes from what has so far been a really not fun yet fun experience DGing (Oxymoron I know). I'd do 3:3 with friends yet we'd take an hour (fun) and I'd only get 30K exp. Which ultimately made me even more disenchanted with DG even though I had a bit of fun along the way. Also solo my exp sucks ass. So I'm looking at this goal of 85 DG on rune and seeing the mountain of 2.6M exp and just giving up straight off. I need to endure [cabbage] exp to get to better exp, but that good exp doesn't come until I hit 80+ DG and by 83 I'll have my rapier. Thus adding to the disenchantment.

All in all Dungeoneering has been nothing but a disappointment to me and training it has been more trouble than it's worth. DG forces you to be with utter strangers who could be total [bleep]s and just make my experience worse, which is why I've stuck to just wallowing in my own self pity that I have [cabbage] DG and blaming it on being "too noob for teams" thus allowing me to escape having to be around strangers I don't know and escape from Solo because "the exp is too inefficient, I need a team". And I was talking to Enaid about this, but thing is TIFers I know and talk to a lot know I lag badly, yet those in CC might not, and when I was told to start keying floors, I really don't think the people joining me that aren't TIFers I know well would enjoy a 60 min + large.

And another thing is I don't know the first things about being efficient at DG. Some of the terms people come out with really confuse me like DENK and other abbreviations. Even in DGS chat I get confused with people saying "ABD+2" (which I got Trollgazer to talk me through that they're waiting for 2 people to make a 5 man team). Yet how do I know what floors they're doing, how many they're doing etc. Because don't forget I'm 3 levels off Occults (? I think) yet when people say "Occult+3" I could be thinking "Yeah great! I'll be there!" yet when I get there they wont be doing my floor. Or when someone is doing ABD's I go there and they're only doing F34, or one of my lower floors, therefore giving me sporadic completion.

Now sooner or later I'm going to run out of excuses to tell you and recycle well: My level is too low, I lag too bad, I don't know how to efficiently DG, I'm too noob, my exp sucks, I'm too confused. But it's all of these factors that have culminated in my utter apathy when people ask me to DG and my complete loathing of the skill. I'm just really really lost, stuck and confused with DG and need some major guidance before I have my next big meltdown as mentioned where I will go fully nuclear and bye bye binds. I hope you all understand where my pessimism comes from. It's not through lack of trying, but more being messed around by people and therefore giving up the idea of having a nice team.

I would highly appreciate that any reply to that main body of text edited from a PM to Obt would be made out as a PM to me because I think it'll just be easier for me to have something I can come back to easily instead of searching pages and pages for it.

Oh and one other notible thing: I'm GMT or what would probably be BST now as I'm English. I'll be heading back to university next Saturday I think, which means later nights will be an option and there'll be no distraction of: "BRB >.< Mum wants me to hoover.... Or do X housejobs".

I want to give this one last proper go with you guys and Kandy and Octarine etc <3: Halp someone who is really confused?

Worlds seem to have more laggy periods which makes DG a total pain in the ass. I really rage hard when my prayer flashes don't pull off correctly, and when I get Gulega I really want to slam my computer table into the wall.

Oh well it's just Jagex's cabbage servers and nothing you can do about it, as long as I have my binds I'm okay (TOUCH WOOD)

Ezkaton, if you don't have a silk hood bound, then your next meltdown won't be that hard to reverse ;)

Anyway I'd recommend waiting until you can get a better laptop, if you're suffering from 5 seconds or more of doorlag (i.e. loading please wait) then your dungeons are going to be completely incoherent and will turn into a frustration fest.

Are you already playing at minimum settings for Dungeoneering? That might reduce the loading time as far as I know.

Also, next time I'm on yell at me until I start an abandoned.

So just some things I need to work on (listing here so you can all yell at me till I do it):

- Revise guidelines to make them more readable.

- 3rd bind guide including strategy, advantages, etc.

- Fix some links on the front page.

- Kick some of your asses into gear (we need keyers and wingpeople, and that means YOU . . . yes you).

- Get 120 dungeoneering.

- Change my name back to Obtaurian to prevent hex drops.

Anything else?
