Dungeonsweepers (DGS) - Huge changes; read first post.

Ezka's lappy must be fairly old, seeing as I'm getting fairly good loading times when I dg. Door lag still kills me, though - moreso when a lot of doors get opened right after another, which happens a ton in larges. Still, it's only 1-2 seconds of downtime for me.

 

And Ezka, my offer to dg with you still applies <3 and to Gwyn, w99 was horrible at times yesterday when I did some larges with some HYT'ers. It was fine most of the time, but then it'd lag like bloody hell for 10 seconds, then back to normal. Wasn't my pc either, everyone was effected in the team (ie, we all started complaining at the same time).

 

Anyway, 87 dg achieved yesterday, and I still only have one DGS keyed floor on my DG'ing resume. I should remedy that.

 

Slightly off topic, but since I have my rapier out of the way (and most of the smaller rewards purchased already), what should I aim for next? I know if I have a viable goal, I'll be more likely to dg. I don't boss hunt very much though, so more chaotics probably won't be much more than niche uses for me :/ I'm really quite... confused as to what to target next. I was thinking surgebox (mage slaying, although it won't be needed as much soonish seeing as I'm 98 mage), herbicide (for abby spec tasks more than anything else, tbh), and antipoison totem (for pyramid plunder, if I ever go back to that instead of punching monkeys). I'm not sure on any of the other items, really. Maybe demon horn necklace for when I look to getting the rest of the champion scrolls...

Guidelines have been reorganized and somewhat cleaned up. There's still a lot to read, but hopefully it's a little better now. Any thoughts on improvements I could make?

One thing about the guidelines, the drag ggs job should probably be moved out of the wingmen/wingwomen section and into the more general section as it's something everybody needs to do at certain stages.

What exactly would I use primal rapier on? I know the general stuff, like demons, hellhounds (I think), brutes, dragons, lower level forgotten mages/rangers, and slashing on zombies. Is there anything I missed? Also, which bosses would the rapier be worthwhile to use on, other than the eyeball ones (or is prom 2h better on those too?). And if ragered, does rapier>prom 2h in dps on bosses?

AFAIK, of the bosses you'd actually do (ABD and up), Shadowforger is the only boss where a rapier outhits a 2h.

AFAIK, of the bosses you'd actually do (ABD and up), Shadowforger is the only boss where a rapier outhits a 2h.

Actually, all ragered bosses are primal rapier territory, plus flesh is ridiculously weak to stab.

 

As for what you should do, enter gd's with the plan on killing monsters weak to you first(depending on having a hex on the team this may change somewhat), then low def, and then decide to either mage or 2h the rest of the gd(either ghosts/fire giants or forgotten rangers and skeles). I would give more specific guidelines but it varies alot depending on if you have a hex on your team(if you don't then you enter with 2h and kill mages/necros first).

Saradomin Mage: Naw I don't have silk hood atm but that is a bind I would like to get nailed down because it'd make the DG's with kandy etc better. I am suffering from roughly 5 seconds, but it happens on all types of screen setting I do, so I've just left it on the "Auto set up" one of HD resizeable. I even use the client as that reduces lag but there's just times when it totally freezes up. And alrighty I will do <3

It's an Acer Aspire 5536 with an AMD Turion X2 RM-74 (2.2 GHz), ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics, 4GB Ram, 500GB HDD. So it's not that it's old it's because the processors really don't like me o.O I had it for 3 months, by december I lagged horribly. I can't do anything like I do when it was new such as listen to iTunes, browse the interwebs and play rune. It's just rune or internet or iTunes. Sent it away last August cause I couldn't cope. January exactly the same thing happened. Dunno how, dunno why. :/

But it felt fast :3 and tbh 70K exp in roughly an hour and 15 isn't honestly bad at all for me! I actually enjoyed it a fair bit. Just have to try and keep up :P

 

But I think I did ok for my first DGS DG's...

Managed to key a couple of 40min floors a few days back, and I realised how much faster I could make my keying overall, I just need practice with those that dont mind slower floors...

Just posting to say thanks to DGS I just got 80 Dungeoneering ^_^. Finally started attempting to key, 6 deaths 34min floor first 5:5 large.

Random tip:

If you plan to alch a start table item, grab a red-eye and sell it. This nets 160gp, which you can use to buy 3 essence, just enough for 1 nat and 2x3 fires.

That floor we did was great, Torstol Pie really should key more often, I think s/he's a natural. Seeing you get that hood gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

 

Nobody is ever perfect when they're new, but you were willing to learn and had a good attitude, so I hope to DG with you in the future.

My lappy is actually new since August 2009 just before I went to uni. I wanted a top of the range dealy and my grandad paid for it as a present to go to uni. It's an Acer Aspire 5536 with an AMD Turion X2 RM-74 (2.2 GHz), ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics, 4GB Ram, 500GB HDD. So it's not that it's old it's because the processors really don't like me o.O I had it for 3 months, by december I lagged horribly. I can't do anything like I do when it was new such as listen to iTunes, browse the interwebs and play rune. It's just rune or internet or iTunes. Sent it away last August cause I couldn't cope. January exactly the same thing happened. Dunno how, dunno why. :/

Here's what you need to do. You know that disk that came with your laptop that had the Windows logo on it and was probably labeled something to the effect of KEEP THIS OR ELSE YOU'RE A GIGANTIC MORON? You kept it, right? You need to back up anything important on your computer, and then use that disk to format your hard drive and reinstall Windows (Google this, it's not hard). Then, you need to not wander around the Internet downloading whatever strikes your fancy so that your computer doesn't get bogged down by a mountain of spyware again, because that is almost definitely why a computer with specs like that can't run RS. Formatting it will take all the crap off easily and it should start running as smoothly as the day you bought it- if not, you do have a legitimate hardware problem and should probably see if it's still under warranty.

 

If you didn't keep that disk, you need to contact Microsoft and see what you need to do to get them to send you a new one. Good luck!

It is actual genuine hardware :3 I've formatted it before and installed windows 7 with no effect, sent it off to the TechGuys and they sorted it, 3 months later and I formatted it again due to same problem. Again restoring it doesn't work and so I've left it this time. CBA sending it off to have it break 3 months later... I use Spybot etc and regularly clean my comp anyways.

 

Basically my processors are broken. :/ and it overheats too much even when all fans are clear.

In that case, get into your BIOS and make sure that none of your fans are disabled or underpowered, and that your processors aren't underclocking themselves. Also get yourself one of those laptop fans that the laptop sits on top of. If you aren't confident messing with your BIOS, you might want to find somebody who is.

Not that I expect to see another hexhunter bow before 100 dungeoneering, but I was wondering...the current suggestion for sub-100 dg'ers with a hex bound is to bind sagittarian arrows and a hood as well, and to craft surge runes. But would binding a hex with a hood + surgebox, and buy arrows from the smuggler asap, be more effective and cheaper? I mean, novite arrows are only 40 gp each, and I believe grimy said they have half the DPS of sagittarian, and doesn't the majority of hex's damage come from the bow's special effect + desperado ring?
