I love how html5 beta need less clicking when runing. With map from NIS it will be super!

That's the kind of thing you won't notice anymore after a week.

I am so looking forward to the new interface system. It should make combat so much more enjoyable. Might be time to get a second computer screen....

All the items have a black hazy outline over them making it really difficult to see them, I much preferred bright colors.. but I suppose I could live with it.

basically it looks like your inventory and bank rolled around in tar, for the purpose of making the item easier to see

 

easier solution: don't [bleep]ing make the windows so dark colored

The black haze is a problem with how the new HTML5 engine handles the blending of shadows. All items have shadows (ever since RS2), just that they are properly blended and much more subtle.

 

I'm not up to date on any potential problems with WebGL, so I'm not sure if it's something they can fix or not. Either way it's a bit annoying, but it's the kind of thing we will get over very easily if they can't.

It's because they switched over from using 2D inventory icons to using 3D models.

The inventory icons have always been runtime-rendered 2D made from the 3D models for the item. That's why they sometimes have weird problems with their inventory icons being larger/smaller/etc after updates.

 

It's still that way--they have no reason to make them full 3D considering how much more unnecessary processing power that would require for absolutely zero graphical difference.

Opening the bank in the earlier days of the HTML5 beta made the FPS drop quite a bit for that reason actually.

I just want the shadow haze gone lol it looks ugly

Just wanted to post that the NIS Alpha forums have been renamed to NIS Beta...

 

Soon. :)

I, for one, can't wait to try the NIS.

 

One thing, just ONE thing has prevented me from playing in fullscreen and resizable mode.. Is that the chat box is transparent. Making it impossible to see some text depending on what area you are in. Dark colors? GG seeing anything in morytania. Bright colors? Not going to see anything in any snowy area.

Good thing that the NIS Alpha will allow us to make it partially transparent, so that the text in chatbox will be visible no matter the colour and no matter where.

Now the only thing they need to do is allow us to make text sizes for chat bigger.

I never found chat colours an issue with transparency.

Pretty much all the game messages are in colours that will show right globally, or in the only areas they appear and you can change all the actual chat colours to suit your needs.

Anyone else here sending in an entry for the NIS competition?

I just finished sending in mine, I ended up spending much longer on it than I expected. I really like the result, though.

- Various memory and performance optimisations

- Fixed double world-build on login

- Fixed crash in Draynor area

- Improve performance of string decompression

- Improve download speeds of some config types

- Implement a couple of minor missing protocol handlers

- Don't remove roof in reflections...

- Specular effect in shadowed areas removed

- Parallelise downloads from content server

- Improve water diffuse textures

- Fix a variety of hard-to-reproduce concurrency issues in the script engine

- Optimise shadow map pass a bit

- Pre-process interface sprites to match Java client

Now the only thing they need to do is allow us to make text sizes for chat bigger.

For what's it's worth you can use ctrl-scroll to make them bigger in the html5 beta.
